Iman felt a new feeling planting itself in her heart, so tears formed in her eyes, even though she had no fault in her condition, and she did not decide to be like this, and despite everything, she thanked God and thanked Him, and in the middle of her deepening thoughts, she heard the voice of her father who entered, to find his wife screaming, so he spoke in his harsh voice. He said: What's happening again?
Amal smiled slyly and said: Come, Mr. Abdul Rahman, to see your daughter who has been wandering in the streets until this time, and only God knows who she was with.
Abdul Rahman felt his blood boiling in his veins. He grabbed Iman by her hair, over which she was wearing her veil, and from the force of the tug, the pin wounded her in the neck. She screamed from the pain of the wound and the pain of her hair, which she felt almost being pulled out of its roots.
Abdul Rahman: Where have you been, animal, so far, and who have you been?
Faith in Pain: I was not with anyone, father. I swear to you, I...
Amal interrupted her when she said: Don't trust her. I noticed her standing by the windows with the phone in her hand all the days, and even doing the housework she only does when she sees you.
Iman was shocked by his words, and felt the bitterness of injustice that made her scream, saying: Don't lie, I'm not like that. I went to visit the graves of my grandfather and grandmother as I do every month and came back immediately.
Abdul Rahman left her hair, and before Iman could sigh in relief, she received a strong slap from her father, leaving his fingers drawn on her cheek, which had become red.
Abdul Rahman added in a sharp voice: You have no shame.. I am standing and you did not respect me, and you are shouting at your mother as well.
Iman's psyche was so exhausted that her tongue could no longer move, and even though she wanted to say a lot, she remained silent, and the reason she was always silent was that any word she said would harm her, so she always resorted to silence.
Abdul Rahman: Give me your phone.
Iman saw his looks that described the extent of his anger, because he quickly took her phone, so he opened it directly because she did not have a secret code for it, and she remained standing with tears in her eyes due to the lack of value that Abdul Rahman made her feel at every opportunity he was given. She looked at him as she saw how the person who was supposed to be her support was doubting her, and after he finished his search, he returned the phone to her and acted coldly, saying: This time I will pass the matter unnoticed. The next time I find you two quarreling, you will suffer bad consequences from me.
This time, Amal was shocked and said: But what is my fault?
Abdul Rahman: You know what you did, and this time I was satisfied with a warning. Next time, I will not guarantee you my reaction.. I will go into my room now to rest, I do not want to hear a sound.
The look in his eyes made them bow their heads, so he went into his room and fell asleep immediately. As for Iman, she looked at Amal helplessly and whispered to her, saying: God is sufficient for me and He is the best disposer of affairs. My Lord will reward you for your actions.
Amal bit her lips to suppress her anger for fear of her speaking and Abd al-Rahman hearing her voice. She could no longer bear his beatings, and she had been somewhat relieved by him during the recent period. As for Iman, she entered her room, where she found her sister Salma sitting on the bed, hugging her legs, and she put her hands over her ears so that she would not hear anything, and when Iman saw her in that state, her tears fell with sorrow for a young girl who wakes up every morning to the noise and quarreling of her parents, so she sat next to her and hugged her to comfort her in this situation. The time she needs is someone to relieve her.
Salma: Why does my mother do this to you? And my father, whenever one of us makes a mistake, hits him without waiting for us to defend ourselves. And my mother, why does she hate you so much?
Iman patted her shoulder because she had no answer to that question, and had no energy to speak or do anything. They remained in that state until Iman felt her sister relax, so she looked at her and found her asleep, so she put her quietly on the bed to sleep comfortably. Then she got up, performed ablution, and prayed. She continued crying and complaining of her worries to God Almighty, so she felt deep relief, and she got up to prepare dinner in order to avoid any discussion with her stepmother.
With Nasr al-Din, he was on his way home when the Maghrib call to prayer was called. He stopped in the nearest mosque and prayed, then prayed to God to light his way and protect his father for him, then he continued on his way home.
Nasr al-Din entered calling for his father, who answered him from the living room. When he entered, he was shocked by Doaa sitting with him. His father, Omar, said: Come, son, sit with us. We were waiting for you to eat.
Nasr al-Din: Can someone explain to me what is happening here!
Omar: Doaa came and apologized to me for what she said, and explained to me her good intentions. The poor woman was thinking about me, and she said that because she knew that I would refuse to stay with you and leave this house.
Nasr al-Din: Your words are contradictory, father. Since you knew that you would refuse to stay with us, then why did you underestimate your value?
She quickly prayed crocodile tears, as she was accustomed to acting in difficult situations, and said: I told you, uncle, to go before Nasr al-Din returns, but you did not allow me, but now please allow me to go, I cannot stay any longer.
Nasr al-Din looked at her and felt remorse because of her words, and also the tears that he struggled to keep from falling one day because of him, and he felt himself hurt to wake up from his distraction when his father said: No, my daughter, sit down. Nasr al-Din must know exactly what happened, and you, my son, sit down so we can talk a little. .
Nasr al-Din sat watching Doaa with half his eye, and she impressed him because she had mastered her role well, and at the same time he was listening to his father’s speech, who went on to say: Doaa said that speech so that she would not put pressure on me, because she knew that it was impossible for me to leave the house in which I spent the most beautiful time. The moments of my life are with your mother, may God have mercy on her, and I will not go to live in another house, and this is the reason behind her words.
Nasr al-Din raised his eyebrows in surprise at his words, and he could not accept them. If she had succeeded in convincing his father with that statement, since she knew well Omar’s attachment to his late wife, she would have played on his point of affection. As for Nasr al-Din, he used his mind, but he refused to show anything in front of his father.
Nasr al-Din: I will go to prepare dinner, your medicine is almost here.
He did not give them a chance to comment, and hurried to the kitchen, so Doaa took advantage of the opportunity, saying: I will show him where the food is that I brought, and then I will leave, uncle.
Omar: You will not go anywhere until this problem is resolved.
Doaa: But Nasr al-Din is angry with me, and it is impossible for him to forgive me or listen to me at all.
Omar: Nasr al-Din loves you, and he who loves forgives.
Duaa with a smile: I hope this happens. I will go wash my face.
Omar: Home is your home.
Doaa went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator, taking out a bowl from it that she presented to Nasr al-Din. Then she said: There is no need to bother yourself preparing dinner, I have prepared it already and now I will leave.
Nasr al-Din: Why?
Doaa looked at him questioningly and said: I did not understand you.
Nasr al-Din: Why did you say that, and do not repeat to me what you told my father because I will not believe him.
