Chapter 13 [ 8:00 am; October 2040] "Have you gathered any information about Le'Roux?" Luther asked as he sat in his swivel chair in his office. Within a minute, his two companions joined him. The three young men continued their mission after visiting the girl yesterday, and they are now embarking on a new plan. "I can't get any information; all the wealthy families I've asked have no idea; it appears that that clan has truly been dissolved," Kheed replied, shaking his head, a frustrated expression on his face. "How come they still give me their name?" Luther wondered. "I'm not sure," Kheed replied with a shrug. "Perhaps because you were wanting to know which clan was involved in your parents' death." "Then let's just concentrate on one clan," Lucas suggested. "This still works in our favor; we can concentrate on just one clan." "Yeah, even I don't like them being dissolved; I want my revenge on them as well, but what can we do? There's nothing left in that clan? For now, let's just focus on Asano like the first plan," Kheed said as he took his cell phone. Luther did not respond further, but his thoughts remained in the disbanded clan. He is upset by this news because he believes that everyone involved in his parents' death should be held accountable. "Look at this, dude," Kheed said, pointing to his cellphone. Lucas took the phone and turned to face Luther. "What?" "You're in the news." "What?" Lucas handed him the phone and saw that he was in a newspaper column with a picture of him facing the girl he had run over. "Look at the title, the cold young CEO has melted and has a girlfriend?" Kheed laughed, " What the fvck!" The two responded by shaking their heads. "What do you expect from the media? They will go to any length to make people enjoy their gossip," Lucas explained. "On the other hand, it's in your favor for pretending." Luther nodded, hoping that this would help him. "Speaking of her, someone is looking for her; it was her brother," Lucas explained, "her sister has been missing for quite some time and they are only now looking for her." "At the very least, he tried, how about her mother" Kheed replied, shaking his head. "She doesn't appear to be concerned about her daughter." "Her mother was sick." "Oh" "What bothered me was, if she was sick and worried about her daughter, why didn't she ask her son to find her the first day she went missing? Why wait two long months?" Lucas wondered. "I, too, am curious." "Something appears to be wrong with that family," Lucas observed. "Well, maybe they don't really care about Samantha," Kheed replied. "Anyway, shall we pay her another visit?" "We have to start with his plan," Lucas replied, pointing to Luther. "But I won't be joining you; I'll go to her mother; I need her cooperation on this." Kheed nodded. "And I'd like you to show him how to be a boyfriend." "My pleasure," Kheed replied, smiling. "I don't need him for that; I can do it my way," Luther replied with a shake of his head. "How? Attacking her to the point where your eyes almost burn with rage? Do you think the girl will believe you?" Lucas inquired with a bit of scolding. "I'm not gonna do that." "Then tell me how you're going to do it," he said, Luther looked at the two young men. "It's a secret." "It's a secret. You just don't have a plan," Kheed teased. "Just call my name, boss, I'm here." "I don't need your assistance." "OK, but I know you're going to need me later," Kheed said, ignoring the young man's remarks. Looking at it, Lucas shook his head. The two went straight to Lucas's private house at the end of the day, while Lucas went to the girl's house. "Hello, anyone home?" he called from outside the gate of a small house. It's a bungalow with cement walls and an iron roof, but from the outside, it's clear that the family is struggling. The house is almost completely destroyed and has numerous holes. He yelled once more, and after a while, the door opened, revealing an elderly woman in her 30s. It has black hair and black colored eyes, and a slender body that is almost emaciated, most likely due to her illness. "Good day," Lucas said, smiling. "Good day to you as well, who are they?" the lady politely replied. "I found out your son was looking for Samantha, which is why I came here," he explained. The lady's face abruptly changed from one of concern to an expression of fear. "W-who are y-you?" Lucas was surprised by this stammered question. He can't say they met the girl who now has no memory of them and will be their friend's girlfriend. He had to give a compelling reason. "I'm acquainted with Samantha's boyfriend." The lady's blood seemed to run away after Lucas replied. It turned pale and was unable to speak. She appears to be unsure whether to enter their home or speak with the young man. She trembled as she approached the gate, bent as if afraid to see the young man's face. "F-forgive my son. H-he's only concerned about his s-sister... Don't w-worry, we won't f-find her again." Her response surprised Lucas yet again. Her fear was noticeable, but what she said surprised him the most. According to the lady, the girl already has a boyfriend. And the lady is afraid of her boyfriend. If that's the case, he can't use the previous strategy because if she's afraid of the lover and the girl has amnesia, she'll take the girl away. He needs to alter his strategy, and he already knows what to do. He will use her terror from the frightening boyfriend into cooperating with them. "No, that wasn't what I meant." Lucas addressed the lady. "I'm here to inform you of her condition." "W-why? What's the p-problem?" I stammered again. "May I enter?" Despite her hesitation, the lady let the young man inside and despite her lack of funds, the lady was still able to provide the young man with something to drink, "thank you." "W-what h-what happened to my daughter?" she inquired once more. "She was in an accident, but she's fine now. There's just a small problem," he explained after drinking the juice she had given him. "But before I go any further, I'd like to apologize for the lie I told earlier," he said, surprising the lady. "I'm not a friend of her boyfriend." "T-then who are you?" "We are the ones who witnessed your daughter being involved in an accident." "Oh my god!" she exclaimed, cupping her mouth. "She crashed into a car and it appeared to be a hit and run, luckily my friend saw her and quickly called me, my family owns a hospital if you're wondering why he called me, and now he is in a private place that we also own," he made up a story. " Oh my God, thank you so much!" the lady sobbed with overwhelming emotions. "Now, my friend who saw her fell in love for the first time with your daughter; if you ask, he had no interest in women but when he saw Samantha, it was as if his outlook on life changed; every day he visits her, getting updates on her condition," Lucas added to his lie. "My daughter has a boyfriend, and Samantha will not agree; she does not want to leave her boyfriend," the lady replied, sadly shaking her head. "But what if I told you your daughter has no recollection of her past?" "What exactly do you mean?" "She has amnesia, she can't remember anything, even her name," The lady was shocked once more and went silent. She thought and this time she looked at the young man. "What do you want to do?" "Well, after all, she does have a boyfriend, so I'd like to introduce my friend as her boyfriend, rather than her true lover," the lady goes silent and thinks for a moment before returning her gaze to the young man with the certainty shown on its face for her decision. "Alright, I'll agree."
