Chapter 21

1476 Words
"Dude, you have to handle this on your own; the boss has other orders," I told Lucas as I got out of the car. He inquired, "Where are you going, and what did he say?" Samantha's mother and brother were standing next to him when I looked at him and shook my head. "I'll tell you later, I'm in a rush." I sighed as I shut the car door, unable to tell them what Luther had told him. They are still unsure, and there is no hard evidence. He also didn't want to offend the mother or her son. He can sense their anguish. Their tears are genuine, he knows they are really concerned about Samantha. Shaking his head, he left the location and began the mission assigned to him by Luther. He didn't like this mission. He didn't want to look into the girl's background. He is afraid that it might be the same as his sister who died at the hands of the mafia. This is also why he decided to join Luther's group. To find and perish the person responsible for his sister's death. There's a chance his friend's suspicions are correct, but he hopes he's wrong. He doesn't want others to experience what happened to his sister, especially since his heart has grown close to Samantha. He shook his head once more, dismissing his mission-related thoughts. He rented a car and began the mission to the location where the girl was frequently seen. RiverStone University Samantha's POV "Wait a minute, Yuki. Let's take a rest," I gasped facing my boyfriend's adorable dog. He came to a halt in front of me, his tongue protruding as if he was waiting for me. I gave him a friendly smile and stroked his fur. "I'm sorry, Yuki. Your friend is still injured. Don't worry, we'll play longer after I recover." I kissed it on the head and heard it hum softly, as if it liked what I was doing. I hugged it before lying down on the garden grass. Yuki did the same thing, and it lay down next to me. I looked up at the pitch-black sky. I just noticed the sun had gone down. I had forgotten about time because I was having so much fun with Yuki. Maybe it's like that when you're having fun. I smiled; if it hadn't been for Yuki, I would have already left, and my relationship with that man would have ended. I sigh, recalling their argument. I had no idea how the man had become my boyfriend. It's frightening and extremely rude. How could I possibly have loved him? Or was I the one who flirted? That he simply agrees with? But, based on what he said earlier, it appears to be extremely impossible. It will not follow anyone. He dislikes being meddled with. So how? How did he end up as her boyfriend? "What do you think, Yuki?" I asked the dog next to me. "How did I become your boss's girlfriend?" It barked three times as if to respond to my question. "Aside from the fact that I don't remember him, I don't feel like he's my boyfriend; do you think our relationship is real?" I asked again, looking at him. He didn't even respond, just stared at me. I sighed and shook my head, convinced that I was insane for talking to a dog. "Sorry! You might be confused about what I'm saying," I said as I sat down and ruffled his fur. "Why do you ask?" I came to a halt when I heard a voice, I looked at Yuki right away. "Is that you, Yuki?" I asked, still holding her face. "Look at you, you can talk, but you bark at me instead of talking so we can understand each other." " Stupid. " What he said next surprised me. Even his dog has an attitude! "I just lost my memory, Yuki; I'm not stupid; how do I know you can speak when you haven't said anything?" "So, why are you acting so stupid?" "You're being rude, Yuki. We just got close and you talked to me like that right away." I replied, pouting, "I'm just not used to this. I don't remember anything, so everything that's happening to me now, everything is new. Even you, it's our first meeting today, so I didn't even know you could speak." Actually, she has a lot of new things in front of her eyes and has no idea what's going on. She'd just awoken from a coma and had lost her memory. How does she remember everything so quickly? She couldn't force herself to live like she used to. She has no idea who she was before the accident. She didn't know how to carry on as they had been if she herself was unsure of her identity. "I don't even know who I am..." I exclaimed, taking a deep breath. "Do you want to know who you are?" I looked at the dog. He might be the answer! "Do you know something? Do you know who I am?" I asked Yuki, but received no response. "Tell me, I want to know what my life was like before the accident." "You... we're a Mafia affiliate out to bring me down, and your pretended memory loss is exposed." What he said made me frown. I? A Mafia? What exactly is that? "Mafia? Is that my family's name? I know our surname is Vasque." I'm perplexed. "Stop acting, you know what I mean." "You know, Yuki, instead of helping me, my brain just got more messed up, and now I don't even know what my last name is." I shook my head and tried to lie down on the grass again when I felt something hard behind me. I sat down again and looked at that thing, but instead of seeing anything, I saw two pairs of shoes worn by that person. "Luther?" I asked when my gaze was drawn to its face. He couldn't even smile, his face was so dark. "Are you calling us? I'm sorry, Yuki and I were talking so I couldn't hear you," I apologize, but instead of responding, he just stared at me. Why does it seem like everything I do irritates him? I simply spent too much time with his dog, and he is now enraged. "Alright, we're about to go in, don't be mad," I said as I stood up when he abruptly spoke. "Stop making yourself look stupid; you know you're speaking to me." I frowned at him, not sure if he's right when he says I'm stupid because I don't understand him. "You're both really rude and keep telling me I'm stupid, and you're both confusing to talk with," I shake my head. " Fvcking drop it! That dog isn't talking!" I was astounded when I heard his voice rise. What did I do to irritate him again? Wait, Isn't he aware that his dog communicates? So... Is it just me who knows? I looked at Yuki, who was also standing and just staring at me. "Is that a secret? He doesn't know you talk?" I asked, and it barked. "You bark again. Just say yes. Oh, your boss is here. Alright, I'll keep it a secret. Promise!" I said with a smile, taking his foot as if making a pinky swear. When I was shaking hands with Yuki, someone abruptly pulled my arm. Nobody else but my boyfriend who was already fired up, his eyes are glaring as if he wanted to kill me. "You are really stupid, don't you? Well, fvck it! That won't work on me; now tell me who you're working with." Here comes this man again, with his questions to which she has no answers. "I thought I was still studying? Why are you asking who I work with?" I wondered over and over. "You're working with the mafia, stupid!" he yelled. "Why are you shouting? We're only inches apart! Lower your voice, I've lost my memory, not my hearing." I shook my head, "And how do I know what you're talking about? I don't even know what that Mafia means! You're the one who said I'm studying? And also, can you please remove your hand from my arm? Maybe instead of the left one being injured, I won't be able to use the right one anymore because of your tight grip. " "I do the orders here; don't try to lecture me," he replied, then tightened his grip, causing me to come to a halt. Those exact words... Why am I feeling.. is it possible that I've heard those words before? 'I do the orders...' As my vision blurred, I turned to the man in front of me and said, "Y-you..." before collapsing to the grass and losing consciousness.
