Chapter 20

1519 Words
"Was it a bad day for you, young master?" Manang Lucinda inquired of the young man who was sipping wine from a glass quietly. The young man didn't respond, still irritated by the girl's questioning. Nobody can meddle with his life. No one. "Your girlfriend is so beautiful and kind, no wonder you like her," the old lady said again, expecting a response from the young man, but there was none. The elderly lady sighed and shook her head, pitying the young lady who had just arrived. The girl was so happy a while ago, as if the long-dormant mansion had come to life. She likes the girl even though she only spends a short amount of time with her. They are lively and cheerful, which is ideal for their master, who has lost his smile. The old lady did not speak again, knowing that no matter what she said, nothing would change; the old lady felt pity for the girl when she suddenly remembered something. "Oh my God!" She exclaimed. The young man turned around when he saw the old lady's reaction. "Young master,... Yuki!" she said to the Young man. Hearing that name, the young man was taken aback. He quickly dropped the cup he was holding and left the scene. He didn't like the girl and was still annoyed by her, but he had to see her before Yuki did. Because if that happens, she'll perish in no time. But when he got to the dog's cage, it was empty. "Where is she?" he queried the old lady who also followed. "Clemente released it after eating as you instructed," the elderly lady replied. The young man cursed and fled the Garden. He may not kill the girl by running over her, but it appears that she will die by being eaten by his dog. Despite wearing tight work pants, he ran quickly. He looked left and right; panting from his run, when he heard the dog barking, He followed the sound and came across the girl and his dog. The scene was not what the young man had expected. He came to a halt, panting from running and staring at the girl and the dog. " Doesn't Yuki hate women?" Asked the old lady who followed, looking at the playing girl and dog. It licks the girl's cheek, and the girl happily rubs the dog's thick fur on the dog's head. The two are lying on the floor. Both Luther and manang Lucinda were taken aback by the dog's actions. The girl finally noticed the two newcomers. "Manang Lucinda!" she exclaimed, then turned to face the nearby young man. "Oh, and you." The tone of the girl made the old lady want to laugh. Because from joyous pronunciation of her name, the girl's voice died when she mentioned the young man. "Yuki," Luther called out to the dog. The dog immediately turned around and approached him. "So, your name is Yuki, and even the name is lovely," the young woman said, still staring at the dog. The dog barked, as if he appreciated what she said. "What race is he?" the girl inquired as she stood up and shook her clothes. "A German Shepherd who is incredibly gentle with you," replied the young man. "Why? can't it like someone else just because it's your dog?" snickered the girl. " My dog despises women; she would bark and bite anyone but the keeper and me," Luther replied, rubbing the dog's head. "Really? I don't think so," the girl responded skeptically. Before the young man could say anything, the dog could be heard barking at the old lady. "Get inside, Manang," the young man said, and the old lady quickly obeyed before she was eaten. Samantha was astounded as she watched the young man calm the pet dog. "Do you see what I mean?" She turned to face Luther, who was looking at her while holding the dog on the left. She nodded and returned her gaze to the dog, while the young man marveled at how the girl had tamed his ferocious dog. Because of the dog, the girl returned to the mansion as if she and her boyfriend had never argued. She spent the entire day in the garden playing with the dog. She only came to a halt when she felt pain in her legs. The young man, on the other hand, was sipping wine on the mansion's veranda while one hand rested on his laptop. " It would seem that even your dog recognizes that the girl you brought here to the Casa is one of a kind," the old lady said as she brought the young man something to eat. The young man did not respond and simply stared at the girl. "It's no surprise you like her; I think even Señora will be delighted to meet her," the old lady continued, pausing the young man for a moment. He had forgotten about his grandmother because he was preoccupied with the company and the mission, which was aggravated by his pretension to the girl. He believes she saw the news and knew already about the girl. But even before she returned home, the young man was exhausted. He knew he'd be bombarded with questions, and she wouldn't stop bothering him. He has yet to come up with a reason why she should believe the situation. His grandmother is clever, so he must compose a plausible story. He sighed and looked at his laptop, where he found an email from Lucas. He opened it and read what was inside. He frowned as he pondered the contents of the letter before turning to face the girl in the garden. He cannot believe what he is reading. The girl's brother was seen in the underground where the clans met once a month. He's perplexed as to why it would go to that location and why it is looking for this girl there. Many thoughts raced through his mind when the old lady reappeared. "Young master, you have a visitor." He looked around and recognized someone he'd seen before. RiverStone University's dean. "Good afternoon, Mr. Cromwell," it greeted. The young man frowned, perplexed as to why the old man had come. "I know you're wondering why I came here," the old man said, nodding. Then Luther realizes it could be because of that damn competition. " If this was due to the selection, my grandmother will handle it." He wouldn't want to come back there. "No, it's not about that; it's about something personal," the dean explained, making the young man frown. "It's just that I feel guilty about what I said to you before, and it kept me awake for several nights, so I came here to apologize. Please excuse my tongue; I didn't know what I was saying that day." Again, the young man had no idea what it meant. "What do you mean?" Instead of responding, the old man turned to look for the girl. "I had no idea she was your girlfriend." The young man was still perplexed because he couldn't make sense of what the old man was saying. "I didn't even notice that the reason you were defending her is because she is your girl friend and knows the real her. I'm sorry if I said something that hurt your feelings. Now I know that the rumors about this are factually inaccurate. Again, I'm very sorry; Mr. Cromwell." When Luther finally understood what the old man was saying, he looked at the girl. He didn't pay attention to the old man who kept speaking because his mind was preoccupied with the girl's identity as he remembered the rumors that had been spread about her. It was now clear to him why her brother had been seen in that dangerous location. He returned his gaze to the girl, who was constantly smiling while playing with his pet dog. "I'm truly sorry, Mr. Cromwell; I didn't mean what I said; I hope you can forgive me and continue to support the university," the old man said. He raised his hand to stop it. "I've heard enough; you may depart; I'll contact the school as soon as possible." Even though the old man didn't want to leave without hearing a proper answer from the young man, he did nothing but leave. Meanwhile, after the old man had left, the young man dialed his friend's phone number. (Yow, boss; this is the first time you've called me instead of Lucas; what's gotten into you?) Kheed took the call. "I want you to find out more about this girl; I want everything." (Have I gathered enough?) "You haven't gathered everything yet." (Ooh, boss. That's different. It appears that the cold prince has truly melted. Woohoo!) Kheed teases on the other line. "I'm not; I just want to confirm something," the young man replied solemnly. "Because, if my intuition is correct, that accident was not coincidental; it was planned." (What exactly do you mean, boss?) Luther returned his gaze to the girl before responding, "She's a Mafia."
