Neo was strangely quiet throughout dinner. It wasn't unusual for him not to talk much, but there was something scary about him in deep thought. Aliyah hoped it wasn't a mistake to bring him here. She hoped her mother wasn't getting under his skin.
Frieda and her family were there and they did their best to include Neo in the conversation, but he still wasn't too responsive. When they were done eating, Aliyah's dad volunteered himself, Freida's husband, and Neo to do the dishes.
