Inception
Layla panted as she raced through the
dense forest. Suddenly, she heard a long
drawn out a howl nearby. Oh shoot! She
mumbled under her breath.They'd picked
up her scent. Her heart began to thunder
against her chest. At the same time, the
baby she was carrying began to stir. Trying
to cover her tracks as she went wasn't
easy. And the pain she felt was unbearable.
She clutched her abdomen. At the
intensity of it. Earlier that night... Ahhhh
she screamed as she thrashed around on
the bed. Calm down, the doula soothed her.
And patted her forehead with cool water.
Shock wave after shock wave racked
Layla's body. The pain of labor had her in
tears. Face sweating profusely, she told
her she couldn't do that. The doula
squeezed her hand reassuringly. As Layla's
mom stood in a corner of the room, staring
at her with indifference. The Doula moved
to the foot of her bed. To see her far along
Layla was. "Its time, she said." Layla laid
back against the bed, huffing and puffing in
between contractions. " Next time the
pain hits, I need you to push with all your
might." She'd been in hard labor for more
than eighteen hours. Her body and mind
were beyond exhausted. She wanted to give
up. Head against the headboard she
snobbed. But she knew she had no choice.
I need you to be strong for this baby. And
push! The doula demanded. Pulling her
knees up, she bared down and pushed.
After two strong pushes, the baby's wail filled
the hall. With a look of pure disgust, her
mother walked out. After a while, the
Doula was called out of the room. The
woman left the door partially open. Layla
lay back catching her breath, but was able
to overhear what was said. The doula was
told to "sedate her." And once she had
fallen asleep. She was to bring the infant to
the elders. "Yes madame," she told her.
But unbeknownst to Layla's mother. Over
the years she'd known Layla. She'd grown
to care for her, and now her unborn child.
Once she came back inside, Layla looked at
her. "Did you hear?" She nodded her
understanding and took the medicine she
handed her. After that, the doula came over
and quietly cracked open the door. Layla
carefully wrapped the medicine in tissue.
And placed it beneath her pillow. So her
Doula wouldn't face any consequences.
Seeing that the coast was clear. She
quickly gathered some warm things for
Layla. With a look of concern, she
whispered Layla. Take care and take it
easy. Once again, the doula left the room.
Until the medicine took its toll. Which would
take a half hour. But once she returned.
Layla and the baby were gone. The doula
took her time notifying the elders. In hopes
that she could give her extra time to get
away. Hunter wolves were immediately
sent after them. The night was bitter cold.
Layla crouched down low behind a
snow-covered tree. Trying like hell not to
breathe. Her face and body were
drenched in sweat. The salty liquid stung
her eyes. Squeezing them shut, she tried
focusing on the sounds around her.
Leaning the left side of her body against the
tree, she waited patiently. Hoping that she'd
lost the hunters. She watched as the mist
from her breath clouded her view. She
took this time to readjust the black cloak
with the fur lining she was wearing. She
wrapped it a little tighter around her baby
and herself. When she was satisfied and
had caught her breath. She rushed forward
to their 'meeting place.' She arrived in
minutes, and there the other three stood.
When Gab noticed her, he hurried to her. A
look of worry crossed his face when he
noticed her flushed appearance. She'd just
given birth to their baby. But he had been
banned by the elders, so he couldn't be by
her side. He wanted to be there for them
both. Grabbing her lovingly to support her.
He reached down behind her knees while
supporting her back. And swooped her up
into his arms. She sighed with relief and
leaned her head against his massive chest.
His heartbeat thumped against his chest in
a rhythm that matched hers. Feeling safe,
she drifted off to sleep. They made their
way to a hidden cave. Warmth engulfed
Layla. As she was brought close to the
fire that had been built. The lady that was
with them asked them to give them some
privacy. Nodding, the men stepped outside
and closed them in. A large rock blocked
anyone's entry. Walking a little ways away,
they decided to check their surroundings.
Making sure they covered their tracks.
Water had been boiled and Layla's clothes
had been pulled aside. Ella was Layla's
best friend. She gently and quickly bathed
Layla. Helping her change into some fresh
dry clothes. As well as her baby girl. Ella's
five-year-old son lay near her feet sleeping.
Ella handed her baby and she nursed
the stirring little one. She sucked greedily
on her mom's n****e. She also handed her a
cup of some liquid. "For pain," she said. It
will also help you rest. Just as her little one
had, she greedily drank it down. Slowly
her vision became hazy. As the liquid took
its affect. Nine months earlier. Layla had
always had a thing for black magic. That's
how the four of them met. Layla, Ella, Gab
and Michael had stuck out. It was a full
moon, the night was warm. The four had
found a secluded cave weeks before. It had
become their little hideaway. Candles lite
everywhere. They'd made a large star in its
center. They wanted to try out a new spell
they'd come across. Each person had
gathered two things they needed to cast the
spell. It was a spell to gain powers. Powers
that the elders had longed to possess. They
gather in the room and lit candles all
around. Gab went into the center of the
room and drew a strange, almost creepy
circle. They formed a circle around the
circle. Reaching out, they only touched
finger tips. As they started the spell.
Thunder could be heard rumbling in the
distance. They began chanting the spell
over and over again. The air around them
suddenly grew warmer. BOOM! The loud
clap of thunder shook the cave at the same
moment. Lighting struck illuminating the
cave. Strange shadows seemed to be
reaching out to them from all around. But
the four of them were too engrossed to
notice. Each of them placed the items they
brought in the center of them. Another clap
of thunder. Suddenly, the group grew quiet.
Lightning could be heard sizzling outside.
The air around them became almost
suffocating. And just like that, it returned to
normal. They looked around disappointed.
Maybe we didn't do it right, Layla said. We
followed the spell to a 'T'. Sighing, they
began to clean up. After that, Ella and
Michael left. Gab and Layla stayed behind.
Talking and spending some time alone.
Which was rare. As their romance was
frowned upon. The elders felt that Gab
wasn't good enough. As they spoke, Gab
looked at Layla attentively. Happening to
look over. She noticed him watching her.
Their eyes locked and he noticed a glimmer
in the depths of her eyes. Moving closer, he
lowered his eyes to her lips. She noticed
and licked them nervously. Leaning down,
he captured her soft lips. Layla's eyes
slowly closed. They kiss slowly which
clouded her thoughts. Reluctantly breaking the
kiss. He gently pushed his body against
hers, forcing her to lay back. Placing a
large hand on her back, he guided her
down. Following suit, he laid down half on
top of her as not to hurt her. As they
started kissing again. The kiss became
hungry. Their bodies became entangled, as
one thing led to another. Later that night,
after walking her home. He maintained a
safe distance, in order not to be spotted.
They said goodbye and Layla walked
through the door on cloud nine. All smiles as she
did. The entranceway was dimly lite. Upon
crossing the threshold, someone roughly
grabbed her arm. Letting out a cry of pain.
She was spun around by those same hands.
She inwardly flinched when her eyes
adjusted to the darkness. As the figure
before her loomed threateningly.
