18. From Queen to nothing at all

1048 Words
I enrolled at Cypress High, which was the only one who accepted me after my month long drop out. Today is my new start and I need to make a good first impression. I got up really early, took a shower, got dressed and now I'm admiring my work. I decided to go with a mid tight navy blue skirt and black crop top. My long hair are brushed in a high ponytail. My freshly tan skin didn't need a lot of makeup so I went with only highlighting my eyes with eyeliner, some mascara and chapstick on my lips. On my way to school I began to think if my new friends would be anything like those at home? Will they become my new family and my life will gain that last missing piece. I parked my car by the entrance and full of excitement went inside. I needed to find a main office to gather my schedule. I stood in a crowded corridor studying the school map and trying hard to figure out where I should go when suddenly from behind someone pushed me. Papers flew in the air and I landet on all fours. "Watch where you're going looser." - I heard some black haired bimbo saying. Her two minions started to laugh, and three of them went away swaying their hips like trained prostitutes. "You need a hand?" - asked a browned haired girl with honey coloured eyes. There was something familiar in her, yet I couldn't quite put my finger on it. "No, I'm fine. Thanks." "You're new here?" "Yeah, is it this obvious?" - I answered "You're a little pale for LA so yeah." - she joked - "So I guess you already received our famous welcoming" - she said pointing at direction where those bimbos went. "I suppose I did." "I'm Ana by the way. Do you know where to go, or need some help?" "I sure need some help, this map is useless, and I'm Cece." "Cece as in Cindy?" "No, Cecilia." "Alright Cecilia, right this way." She led me to the main office and waited for me outside till I was done with all the formalities. When I came back to her she took my schedule and showed me the way to my first classes explaining on the way how I can get to another. We agreed to meet during lunch as we didn't share any classes that day. My first day was really embarrassing as every teacher's mission was to introduce a new student, just like my classmates didn't know already that I'm new. I received many curious glances but most of the kids kept to themselves and others gave simple "Hi" but that was it. Not exactly what I expected. To be honest I thought I would become this new shining thing, everyone would be curious about and wants to solve her mystery, but none of that happened. This place was nothing like my old high school, I certainly wasn't the center of attention here. It's strange how in a building full of people I could feel so lonely. I was really looking forward to lunch break and my meeting with Ana. I guess I really need some actual conversation. After my fourth period I made my way to the cafeteria following Ana's directions, and just like she promised she was waiting for me by the entrance. "Hey, how's your first encounter with Cypress High?" - she asked "Not at all what I expected." "Oh really? And what did you expect?" "Well for starters maybe some decent conversation and less creepy staring." She started laughing. "Well I hope that conversation with me will meet your expectations and I promise to keep my stares to minimum. Now come on let's get something to eat and sit outside on the patio, that's my favourite spot." I was really hungry but the food looked so unappetizing that I decided to go with a salad and water. Ana led me outside to the patio and we took our seat by the table at a very far end. " Well Cece, can you tell me what is one of your kind doing here three months before graduation." - she asked when we sat down. "What do you mean 'one of my kind?' " "Oh, don't play stupid. A Werewolf." I looked at her dumbfounded with my jaw dropped slightly. But I remind myself to put my act again. "What? A Werewolf? Girl you have to stop reading to those fantasy nonsens" - I answered with a fake laugh. "Oh please Cece, I can feel your scent. You're a strong one. Beta, perhaps?" "What?! Who are you?" - I asked shocked. I didn't catch a scent of another werewolf so that means she is a human. But the only humans who can sniff a Werewolf and know about us are hunters. They think that we are a threat and kill us without hesitation. I started to panic a bit here. " Relax Cece, I can basically smell your fear. I know who you are because I'm just like you. Well sort of." "What? You don't smell like a wolf your scent is 100% human" - I replied "I know. It's a long story but the point is that my family didn't live in any Pack for three generations now and also my father is a human so I never went through change. But I still have some qualities like smell for example." - she explained "Oh." "I know, right? So, would you like to share your story?" "You were actually close. I'm Alpha not Beta. I ran away from my mate and since I couldn't return to my old Pack I came here." "I see, was this jerk abusive?" "What?! No, he never lay a finger on me." " Cheater?" "No." "So what happened?" "Everything I did was a mistake in his eyes and he didn't support me." "That's it? And you left your home because of that." "Well, yeah." "You Cecilia seems like a very interesting person. I actually am an outsider here too you know, so what do you say if we two lone wolves would stick together?" "I think I'd like that." And that's how I made a new friend.
