13. Confronting Luna

1149 Words
Keith P. O. V. Pack was never really under attack. John, Seth and I decided that it would be good to make false alarms once in a while to check how well our people are prepared for actual danger, and which areas need improvement. I left Cecilia in the living room and went with the guys to my office to prepare a report from action and evaluate it. "So what are our results? John, tell me about warriors' performance." - I instructed my Beta "All went surprisingly well, all forces were by the western border in a total of seven minutes. We have one issue though, few of our warriors who at the time of attack were assigned to patrol other posts also came to the western borders, what leaves us without eyes and ears in case of attack from more than one side. We could avoid this in two ways either we should order that while patrolling not even attack release them from assigned places, exception would be Alpha order, or we need to specify orders for those on patrols in the mindlink message." " Ok, that's really good insight. I leave up to you which solution we'll implement, but make a decision quickly and inform me." " Yes, Alpha!" " Now Seth, how about civilians? Running around pack lands I've spotted few outside the safehouse what went wrong?" " Actually, Cecilia… "- He answered " What do you mean Cecilia?!" " I've spoken with two Omegas and they told me that when they got to the safehouse it was already locked and Luna didn't answer her mindlink. Does she even know she is supposed to count everyone and wait for weaklings till the last moment if needed?" " Yes, I told her that. Guess I will have to remind her about it. ok, Guys, great job you may return to your duties." - I dismissed them " Yes, Alpha" - said John and left. Seth on the other hand waited for doors to shut after him and looked at me. "Keith, I'd like to talk to you about Luna." - he said "Yeah, and what about her?" - I asked "May I speak freely?" "Yes, you may." "Cecilia is not acting very Luna like. She's rude, and self centered, she doesn't fulfill her duties and is not interested in any form of development of her skills. I think you need to talk to her, Man before the pack will hate her." "Seth, relax she's still young she'll get there and will become a great Luna one day." "Alpha, with all due respect but I believe you're blinded by mate bond. Did you know that she wants to punish Omega's for their mistakes." "What? I never heard of it, what do you mean?" "She spoke with Rose earlier today, and told her that with every mistake whether it is a burned meal or dirty window, Omegas will get their salary cut." I was speechless, I didn't know what to say. My Luna was supposed to take care of our Pack not make their life's even harder. " Thank you Seth, I'll talk to my Luna. Please ask Rose not to pass Cecilia's order just yet, ok?" " Yes, Alpha!" - he bowed and left. I buried my head in my hands trying to gather my thoughts. Was it possible that I've been blind when it comes to Cece? Yes, she's amazing for me but what about those lesser in her eyes? I still remember her outburst when someone spilled some coffee on her. And today's events showed clearly that she might not care about our pack at all. With a heavy heart I went upstairs to our suite to talk to her. I hope that she will understand. Cecilia P. O. V. Doors finally opened and in came Keith with unease written all over his face. I jumped from a couch and ran to him, throwing my arms around his neck and giving him a longing kiss. "Baby, thank Goddess you're here, I was worried sick." - I greeted him "No need, I was perfectly fine." "Keith, I know you are almighty Alpha but it's my duty to take care of you. How about I'll fix a bath for us and then we can eat dinner in front of TV, just the two of us?" - I proposed. "It's funny that you mentioned duties because I'd like to talk about yours." "What about my duties?" "Cece, I don't know how to put this, but do you even care about our pack? I've heard some disturbing news considering you." "Of course I do, I'm their Luna. What news are you talking about?" "Did you know that today you left a few members outside the safehouse? If it were a real attack all of them would be dead." "What?! What do you mean real attack?" - I ask not believing what I just heard "Well, it was a simulation thanks to which we know our strengths and disadvantages. But never mind, that's not the case. Why didn't you wait for everybody to arrive? You know that members from all around the pack land seek shelter in a safehouse, and they need more time to get there than you." I was speechless. I haven't even thought of it, well till now. What should I answer? Sorry? " I don't know why I guessed I panicked. I'll do better next time." " Cece, you need to understand that there might be no next time for some of our people if we failed them. It's a great responsibility, and you need to try harder. It is literally a matter of life and death." - Keith said firmly. I felt like a total disappointment. He clearly couldn't see my point of view. If that attack was real, waiting for those few who took long enough to get to shelter could cost us the lives of those who I actually protected. I built my courage and started to open my mouth to verbalize my thoughts when he spoke again. "Also could you explain what was it all about with your idea of punishing Omegas?" He looked mad now. "I wanted our home to work as good as it possibly can" - I barely whisper feeling my voice starting to tremble. "Cecilia, what makes you think that it's not working? Besides everyone in this Pack has the same rights. Making mistakes once in a while is a normal thing. Please don't go that way or your own people will start to fear you or even despite you." I felt like a disciplined child, and I could no longer hold my tears. I didn't know what to do with myself at that moment, so I muttered quietly 'Sorry' and went to the bathroom so that my Mate won't see how much his words had hurt me.
