Chapter 8 One day Until We leave for the War - Chad

Chad’s POV

I woke up to the sun light filling my room, this morning waking alone after falling asleep alone. I had to practically make Sarah stay away the last couple of days. I needed to focus on what will lie ahead going into the battle zones tomorrow. I had no training today since it was the last 24 hours at home, all the pack members leaving out tomorrow morning had no training today and no patrol for us either. I wanted to spend some time with my mom today and Tammy.

Tammy has been checking on me every day from a distance and has been encouraging. The way she knows exactly what to say drives me crazy and wanting to spend more time with her. I had been considering that when this war is over and I come back home making the proposal for her to be my chosen mate. I can’t imagine feeling as close as I do to her to any other she wolf. She already knows me, and the pack loves her. She was strong and gentle at the same time; she could make for a strong Luna for our pack. Of course, that is if she would choose me in return and once, we marked each other and mated it would force a bond in place for us. But these were thoughts to save for another day.

I hopped out of bed and threw on some shorts and a fitted tee shirt for the day and headed downstairs. I could already smell the breakfast feast that was being prepared below and I knew the omegas and my mother would be down there feeding all the children here at the pack house. I jogged downstairs to see just that. Mother making plates with other she wolfs getting all the little ones settles. My mother greeting me, “Morning son!” and pecked me on the cheek. “Morning Ma.” I told her. I jumped right in helping them. After making and handing out several plates, My favorite little girl comes walking up. Lily.

“Sit and eat with me Chad!” She pulled at the bottom of my shirt and looked up at me with those puppy dog eyes. I looked at her and I knew I couldn’t tell her no. Defeated I smiled down “Alright, take your plate and find us somewhere to sit.” Glancing at my mother out of the corner of my eye she smiled and shook her head at me. I plated out some food for myself and went over to join her. “YAY! Chaddddd!” She shrieked as I sat down, it was barely noticed with all the other children’s banter and cries as well. “Shhhhh! No screaming please;” I begged her. She smiled up at me and continued eating her pancakes and bacon. She was struggling to get it cut into bites. I sighed reaching over, “Can I help cut it up for you?” I asked her. She nodded. “Sometimes I can cut it. Its hard right now though. One day I will be strong like you and then I won’t need your help to cut them.” She went on. I nodded at her agreeing one day she would not need me to cut her pancakes. I was almost done cutting them all up when she asked, “Will you be sad when that happens?” “Hmm, of course Lily. But that just means I will also be proud that you learned to do it on your own!” I smiled down at her as she poured way too much syrup all over her plate and some on the table. I chuckled at her and ate my food.

Once we were finished I helped her wash her sticky fingers off with a warm wash cloth and sent her on her way. I headed back into the kitchen. Everyone’s food had now been plated out and my mother and the kitchen omegas were all eating together at the kitchen bar. I went ahead and grab another cloth and went out and began cleaning the dining table and bring in the dishes knowing that it would help save them time and that my mother would not leave it for just the omegas. I was able to get all the chairs wiped off and pushed in and swept under and the table cleared off and wiped down plus get one load of dishes in the dish washer when the omegas got up and began taking over.

In attempt to steal my mother away, “Can you take a walk with me?” I asked her. She immediately began looking around at the dishes still to be washed and put away. “Please Luna, go, we can finish this up. Thank you for getting it started Chad.” Omega Angela spoke up. I nodded to her with a pleasant smile, “Of course.” I told her.

“Fine, but I will stay and help clean up after lunch!” my mother told them with a pointed look. I looped my arm into my mothers and we walked out back through the packs house’s back lawn. She smiled at me and trotted beside me.

“Any big plans for today?” she asked. “Not many,” I grinned at her. “Spend some time with my fabulous mother, and a fantastic young lady later this evening and relax during the time in-between.” She smiled, “Well I am glad I am on my list. But you know that spending time with these young ladies in our pack is going to make it difficult for when you do find our future Luna.” She scolded me.

“I have a plan for that.” I tell her. She raised an eyebrow and I debated telling her of my earlier thoughts. “ I am waiting for you to enlighten me son.” She said flatly.

“Tammy.” I smiled looking out ahead of where we were walking feeling like it was an obvious and confident choice. “Tammy is a fine young lady however, if Tammy was supposed to lead this pack then the Moon Goddess would have made her your fated mate. I know you both were disappointed when she wasn’t but you mustn’t get discourage and go out and find your mate. She is out there waiting on you to find her and bring her here to lead our pack and create a stronger generation to protect our packs future.” She went on. My smile slipping from my face knowing that what my mother had to say was right but wishing she wasn’t. I nodded at her. She began talking of some of the children and going on about her garden she was beginning to create off the patio to a path out in the woods. I am glad my mother was content. I would remember her like this for when I would be away.

After a while we headed back in and I let her get to her duties as our Luna. I sent off a text quickly to Tammy.

Chad: Where are you?

I hoped for a quick reply. Which I did receive.

Tammy: In the library. Join me?

Chad: On my way.

I slide my phone into my pocket and kissed my mother’s cheek bye. I headed down to the house library where we held a couple hundred books. It was more like a large office with some furniture in the middle to read the books on. I entered and found Tammy in a perfectly fitted sun dress the sun light hitting her hair from the window with her head bowed reading away. Even if she wouldn’t be my future mate and Luna, I would not allow today to slip by without treasuring a little time and pleasure with her. I stepped behind her chair and ran my hands down her shoulders to her collar bones and then slipping then to her sides down to her hip causing me to bend over and my lips to meet her forehead and she looked up at me with a smile.

“Well, aren’t you affectionate today and in public, none the less.” She teased me. I chuckled with my lips still against her forehead. “I came to steal you away for the day. That is if you would allow me to?” I asked She nodded, “It would be a pleasure, I am sure.” She winked at me as she closed the book and put it on the table in front of her. I caught her pun indeed smiling to myself and nodded to her. “But first, want to go on a run?” I asked and she nodded eagerly leading the way out of the library and to the end corridor exit. It was a short walk to the tree line where I slipped my clothes off and stuffed them into a hole in the tree for when we returned. I shifted and turned facing Tammy who was standing the naked in front of me, clearly, she waited to shift to give me a peak. My wolf calling at her, walked over and rubbed my head on her stomach and licked her hip. She giggled and stepped back shifting as well. She wolf was a brindled color and much smaller than mine but beautiful none the less.

We took off through the trees racing each other. Being the faster wolf, I stayed mostly in the lead and slowing to allow her to keep up. It was nice to let my wolf roam and take the lead. He even killed and ate a rabbit while we were waiting on Tammy’s wolf to catch back up to us. We ran allowing our wolfs to burn energy for a couple hours before we headed back. I let her get a little ahead in order to shift and throw her dress on first.

A few moments later I trotted up to the tree mine was in, shifted back to my human form and slid my clothes on. It was getting kind of late. Dinner would be started soon.

“Meet me at my room,” I told Tammy. She nodded and headed in. I went to the kitchen and made us both a sandwich to hold us over until dinner was ready and asked omega Angela to prep a plate for myself and one additional and to have it left at my door with just a knock once it was ready. She agreed and I took off, up to my room to meet Tammy and to take a shower.
