Jasmine’s POV
The next morning, I awoke in the chair next to my brother’s bed with a blanket covering me. I assume one of the nurses had brought it in and covered me up. I appreciated it no matter who did it though I remember getting chilly and then warm kind of in my sleep.
I stood up and stretched watching over my brother still sleeping, his heartbeat was strong this morning. My blood healing him and his wolf regaining strength to finish the healing process and filtering out the Wolfsbane poison of his bloodstream. I am surprised he isn’t already awake.
*Knock Knock*
I heard the knock on the door just before it came open with Dr. Newsome coming into the bedroom with a clipboard and some notes. “Good morning Jasmine. I am going to check on your brother’s condition and make sure he is healing properly.” He told me. I nodded at him, also walking over my brother running my hand across his forehead moving his hair off of it. “I am going to grab some breakfast and bring It up here. Don’t leave without giving me a report.” I order him with my aura slipping out using. Being of Alpha blood mine was strong. Strong enough for it to cause him pain if he were to try to break it. “Of course.” He replied.
I hurried down the stairs to our kitchen and was greeted by Onya who had already prepared me an egg sandwich and a glass of orange juice. Without a word she wrapped an arm around me and squeezed slightly. I laid my head on her for just a moment allowing myself to feel everything that was happening. My big brother James had been badly injured in a war for our father. Our father who wouldn’t even go to the front lines himself. Coward. That is what he was. A tear slipped down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away. I had no time to be sad I would turn it into angry and let it fuel me for revenge. I nodded to Onya and turned back towards the stairs to return to check on James when my father stepped in front of me. “How is your brother?” He asked. I scoffed at him, rolling my eyes. I tried to step around him however he did not allow me to pass. “I asked how your brother is.” His aura coming out and over me, causing a sweat to break out across my body from defying it. “Why don’t you check yourself?” I spat at him. He raised his eyebrows at my disobedience. “Very well.” He stated and dropped his aura then turned and walked up the stairs.
I followed closely behind. I wanted the report from the doctor. I was the one who sat beside him all night while my father laid comfortable in his own bed without worry for his own son. Angry bubbled inside me, I said nothing. We made it to the top of the stairs and walked in my brother’s bedroom together the doctor taking notes on his clipboard. I had a seat in the chair I had slept in and ate my breakfast.
“What’s the verdict?” my father asked. Dr. Newsome baring his neck to him out of respect. “He is on track for healing. He should wake up anytime.” He reported. “Very well. You may be dismissed Dr. Newsome. Thank you for your help.” My father nodding at him and Dr. Newsome left the room. For a moment I thought I saw genuine concern on my father’s face for my brother. Just as quickly as I thought I saw it, it disappeared. This man showed no emotion if he could prevent it even in a private moment like this with just his children. “Are you going to sit in here until he wakes up Jasmine?” He turned his head to look at me. I nodded my head my mouth full of the last bite of my sandwich. “What are your plans when he does?” my father asks. “Find out what happened, prepare and train and I will return with him to seek revenge for our losses and injuries to our people.” I said matter of fact-ly. He nodded seemingly pleased. That is until I continued, “What are you going to do? Stay hidden in this pack house?” He face reddened immediately with angry. “Jasmine, you will not speak to me in that manner regardless of company.” He spat his aura rushing over me again sweat beads forming across my head, if I wasn’t already sitting I would be on the floor right now. “I am not hidden. I am doing what is best for my pack, losing it’s Alpha would mean a merge with the other pack or death. Do you want that?” He roared at me! I shook my head no, afraid to even speak or I would vomit from his aura pressing on me so harshly.
“I have training. If you want to train you may, but only after your brother is healed so he can deal with your bratty ass.” His words harsh but not as loud as before.
“I’ll deal with her bratty ass any day.” My brother James weakly said from the bed catching us both off guard, causing my father to drop his aura.
“James! You’re awake!” I shrieked a little too loudly, coming over and sitting by him on the bed. His eyes open looking up at me. “Hey Bratt.” He teased me. “Hey.” I laughed back at him.
“Finally, you decided to join us.” My father stated, his face flat. “I am glad you are okay. I will give you some time to adjust and I expect a full incident report by the end of the day.” Again, this man had no emotion or care for us. My brother nodded in his direction and my father exited the room.
We looked back at each other, and I hugged my brother tightly. At least he cared and I would help him take his revenge.
“When ever you are ready James, I want to know what happened. I want you t train me. I want to go back to the front with you and fight and help you gain revenge on whoever did that to you!” I start with tears like fire in my eyes. “SHHHHhhhh, I am fine, Jaz. I am here. I would tell you over some food if you got any.” James tells me trying to soothe my emotions.
“Yes, I will go grab you some from Onya now. I will be right back.” I told him. I knew he must have been starving burning all the calories from healing.
