Jasmine POV
It was about half past noon and we hit the battle front. I had no time to ask about my friend as the fight was already in full swing. There were so many of our pack lying wounded and covered in blood in both wolf form and human form. It raised an anger in me that I had never felt before. These were my people. My friends, family, have been around my whole life and more. This was my pack and they were being torn apart. I could settle for this no more. I was already in wolf form and I was not going to hold back.
My wolf released a howl that was loud and demanding. We wanted blood, we came for blood and that is exactly what we were going to get. James was by my side and joined in my rage-filled howl and right behind us was Theo also howling and others of the pack joined in and broke out. Almost instantly, as our howl ceased, my troop of reinforcements joined the front line, tearing apart the other wolves across enemy lines and I was at the front of that. I ran through a break I saw and pushed behind the line. There stood a wolf of leadership I knew because he stood back and watched rather than fight. Another wolf interfered with my path. It tackled me from the side, spinning me around, earning a ravenous snarl. It was a male. He was taller than myself, so I let him start to tower over me slightly and at just the right moment I let my wolf lunge in for his neck. I dug my wolf's teeth deep into him, filling my mouth with blood. He was strong, trying to shake me off, but I was of Alpha blood. I was only smaller because I was a female. We held tight with our jaws clutched around him and paws digging in, tearing across his skin. It only took about forty-five seconds for him to have lost enough blood to pass out. When his body went limp and right before he blacked out, he looked up towards the front line with a whimper and his eyes closed. He wasn't dead yet, but he would be. At that same time, we heard a loud cry, one of sorrow and pain. I dropped the wolf in my jaws quickly. The cry. It came from behind me and before I knew it a wolf had sunk her teeth into my hind quarters. My wolf wined out. It only pissed me off more that this wolf was so cowardly that it attacked me from behind. I saw Theo's wolf jump clear over the front line and charge into the wolf that had bitten into me and with another motion snapped her neck against the tree. Theo looked at me and the wolf in front of me. He shook his head, disapprovingly. Why was he doing that? I didn't have time to think about that because another wolf was snarling in front of me.
It was the wolf I had intended to kill when I broke the line. The one of leadership aura. He growled at me with his aura forcing down, trying to get me to cower underneath him. Stupid man, I could feel it but I would not submit. It would not affect me. I snarled back and forced my aura forward. I heard several wines around me. He stopped snarling but did not submit. I didn't need him to. I just needed to get his attention enough to catch him off guard with it. Theo tackled him from the side and ripped out his neck. Blood sprang forward and covered my coat even more with red.
I turned around and saw that my aura had affected several of the enemy wolves that were close to me. I counted about five that were bowed, giving our front line an advantage. They hesitated, unsure if it was a trick. My warriors looked at me and then back at them. I nodded and spoke through the pack bond.
Kill them. I spoke with Vengence seeping through every syalble. They attacked immediately. Clearing a huge hole in the front line. I stood there and watched my pack three and five at a time start pouring through and taking out those wolves. My rage faded quickly, seeing their wolves fall left and right. I stood still. This is an advantage we needed. I looked down I saw the wolf of leadership that was bleeding out. I leaned my snout down and sniffed him and listened closely. His heart was barely beating. When it stopped, he would have been the first wolf I ever killed. The first one of my kind, even if not of my pack. I looked over and saw that the wolf that Theo had snapped their neck against the tree had shifted back to human form. It was a woman. I looked at them. My stomach fell. It was a warrior couple. We had many in our pack. Both mates were here in battle today. My stomach sank. I was killing off her mate. That is why she attacked me. I looked over and I realized I was about to be a murder. My lack of attention got me attacked from behind and caused Theo to kill her.
I heard his heart slow even more. And in a moment I heard it stop. My heart sank in my chest. My wolf wined, telling me I was defending my pack not to mourn this wolf who would kill us. Theo rubbed his head against me and i wined more. He circled around me as the sorrow filling me caused me to shift into human form. There I laid bare and in a fetal position sobbing. Theo threw his wolf's body over me, gently shielding me. I laid sobbing.
I am not sure how long but I felt Theo get up and a blanket wrap around me. I looked up to see the front line had been pushed back more than 300 yards. I looked down at my bareness and saw I also broke the skin of a murderer wearing their blood like a predator proud of their kill. I could only sob harder. Theo wined at me and I turned to him and saw who had brought the blanket to wrap around me. It was none other than my best friend, Lindsey. I threw my arms around her and she held me tight. I sobbed even more. I knew she was okay but now I also know what she is doing and having to do to defend our pack.
"Its okay, I know. Its your first kill." she said softly. "We have some tents a little back, I can get you cleaned up and some privacy." I nodded. "I want to get you out of sight fast. Climb onto Theo's back and he will be able to get us there quickly." She climbed up and then helped me on. I laid down on Theo's back, holding onto his fur and let the tears continue to fall. It was a short trip to the camp site. Lindsey got down first and then helped me off. We headed inside, Lindsey cleared out all the warriors and only left the nursing staff. They had potable showers in there where she and another nurse had put me in and turned the water on over me. I knew they were washing me but it was like I was no longer there. I was watching it happen to me. I was standing crying silently and they were bathing me, talking about cleanliness and food and putting on some clothes. But the feeling in my heart was heavier than any words I could utter.
