Chapter 14 Battle Speeches

1009 Words
Jasmine POV “Thank you all for volunteering to go into battle for our pack. I am sure some of you have heard my son, my daughter and myself are all joining you in the efforts of reinforcing our warriors already in battle to protect, defend and reclaim our land. The land that has been passed down for generations for our pack to thrive and prosper on.” My father paused and was looking around the crowd making eye contact with some warriors trying to be inspiring and all, and on he went, “We will reclaim what is rightfully ours and thrive once again!” His voice boomed over us. I barely resisted the urge to roll my eyes at him. I glanced at James who seemed to be buying into this speech and my father’s arrogance. “It’s time to head out. James, please join me in leading our warriors out today.” He called unto my brother who would soon take over the pack. James nodded and walked to the front of the crowd with my brother. “Everyone shift.” My father commanded the pack. We all bowed to the order. Theo jumping in front of me to block the crowd as I stripped my clothes and shoved them into my bag. Theo doing the same all while keeping his back to me, not daring to sneak a peek at me. I quickly forced my wolf forward to shift. I could feel the fur spurt out covering my back and my spine and bones realign. I landed on all fours in wolf form and shaking out my fur and my wolf stretched out her hind quarters and then her front and strutted in a circle. Theos large black wolf sitting in front of us watching with an almost amuse looked. My wolf c****d her head to the side looking at him. His wolf definitely just smiled at us. I giggled in my own head and picked up my bag with my teeth to carry. Theo did the same and many other wolfs. My father our Alpha let out a large, long howl. The whole pack joining in. When he broke off his howl James and my father took off running in northeast towards the front lines our packs battle. We all followed suit with them. Being of Alpha blood and starting at the back it was not long before I had passed more than half the pack that was traveling with us. Theo being a gamma was matching my pace for now but if we ever put our speeds to the test, we both knew my wolf would win. I steadily my pace knowing that we would likely run for about two days before we reached the front of battle to be able to do anything. We would stop at some point tonight and rest but only in shifts, I am sure. I caught James looking back a couple times over the pack and probably me. Being a protective older brother was his specialty. Us being in wolf form meant that we could only communicate via mind link. Before I knew it James forced himself in my head. Don’t leave Theo’s side. I know you are faster but keep pace to stay with him. We are among our pack and there are many unmated wolfs from our pack here. – James I know Brother. I am not dumb I do not wish for any of these males to force themselves on me. I will stay with Theo or you at all times. – Jasmine James’ wolf nodded at me while he ran and then glanced at Theo whom I was sure was getting the same speech from my brother that I just got with some sort of threat that if he didn’t obey him, he would regret it. I doubt even without an order Theo would leave myside. He personally cared for me and would make sure nothing of that nature would happen to me over his life. I glanced at Theo, and he nodded at me, as if to confirm what I already thought. You don’t have to run slow for my sake. I have been training and working on my speed Jaz. – Theo Theo popped inside of my wolf and my mind. All the training in the world wouldn’t change that I will always be faster than you. – Jaz Teasing him was too easy for me. Then keep up slow poke! – Theo Theo took off ahead of me. I pushed myself to catch up with him and stay there. Apparently, his training was pretty intense because I was almost at a full sprint to get and stay at his side. My wolf loving the chance to run off some steam and be in this form. After hours of running the pack slowed to a jog and about dusk, we found a place to rest for the night. Father gave us orders to all stay and sleep in wolf form, that it would be safer that way if we were to be attacked during the night. He put ten wolfs at a time on duty for patrolling the area while the rest of us slept. James and Theo taking turns until my shift. My father of course had volunteered to be on shift when I was. The assignments were all given out and James was first. Then Theos, and after his was my fathers and I turn to patrol. For now, I found a suitable spot and curled up to sleep when I felt Theos wolf curl up against my back. My wolf’s head turn to confirm what we already scented. Theo’s wolf laid with his back against our back. It protected both of us and would keep up warm. I am sure when him and James switched that James would take his place there in a couple hours. Right now, I laid my head back down and let sleep take over knowing that we should be safe for the night.
