Accepting The Future Is Real
It had been in agonisingly long three week wait since Molly got her acceptance letter followed by her copy of a finalised signed contract. Her new job role was for accountancy and specialised in taking care of clientele while negotiations took place for further deals with the heads of departments and CEO of the company. The CEO of the company was actually one of Molly’s neighbours, who lives at the very top of her road in a small, not too overpowering, mansion on the hill side of her road. From Molly’s understanding, the CEO of the publishing company was a gentleman, Mr James Atticus. Molly didn’t have much dealings with the guy. In fact, she had barely ever seen him in the last 4 or 5 years since he moved down her road, only driving past her on the way home from school or college, or when she noticed him in the local coffee shop. He’d never say much, just a smile came from his rouge lips when he passed her by but then again he was like that with everyone. He kept himself to himself very much. Molly had just woken up for her first day at the office, it was a rather huge company with over 40 thousand staff members in just the UK division alone. She was nervous, but excited. All of Molly’s hard work and dedication finally paid off. She got her degree and she got everything she needed to be able to apply for the position, to which she was excepted pretty quickly and she was ecstatic about her job offer. Her father particularly was pleased that she was no longer in education and wasn’t working a part-time job as a receptionist at a mechanics. In her father’s eyes, she was finally getting a proper job one that would be full time and pay her handsomely for her efforts. Molly actually really enjoyed working in mechanics and she learnt a lot from the trade as the receptionist during her time there and make quite a few friends mostly the young guys but there were two female mechanics who worked in the garage that she’d befriended over the last 4 years. Now a mature young woman at the age of 22, with a distinguished degree and exceedingly bright future ahead Molly was looking forward to climbing corporate ladder. Her degree was in accountancy and bookkeeping, and with the special clientele that Molly will be handling now she was more then capable with her past experience as a receptionist answering the phones. Molly’s commute to work was around 15 minutes walk. She had to be at the office for 9 o’clock in the morning, so she got up at eight usually to prepare for life. Once finishing her make up for which she went for a natural look with a cute winged eyeliner she wore her golden hunny hair half up with a claw with the rest of her long hair running down along back just before it reached her bum. For her outfit, Molly slid on a pair of black opaque tights, followed by black knee length pencil skirt and tucked in a navy blouse with a sweetheart neck, which showed off her silver necklace she always wore. It had a tiny solid heart that her Dad bought for her 18th. With the time catching up with her, Molly grabbed her black hooded coat and slipped on her black loafers then headed off to work. Molly walked through the small town that she lived in, past the coffee shop, past the supermarkets and library until she got to the main street with the buildings that had all the important ones on them. Like banks and expensive car dealerships such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin. Once arriving at the building Molly walked into the lobby up to reception and asked to speak to Cameron who wrote to her. Five minutes and a call later, Cameron came down in the elevator and met Molly in the lobby. “ Molly, it’s a pleasure to see ydepartment any problems or issues you have come straight to me and I’ll help you out with them. If you get lost as no doubt you will this place is like a maze at times and can be daunting to say the least just give me a text and I’ll come find you”. Cameron kindly spoke. Cameron took Molly on a tour around the building showing all the offices, the main toilets on the floors she’d be working on and the cafeteria just so she can get her bearings a little bit easier as she settled into her new role. With the tour over Cameron seated Molly at her desk in the office on the 5th floor. The accountancy department was sat right opposite the meeting room and next to that was the main big boss’ office, Mr Atticus. A few hours have passed, and Molly had mostly gone through all her introduction paperwork and was getting to grips with the system that she’d be dealing with for the bookkeeping and familiarising herself with the names of the big clients she’d be working with. After showing Moly around, Cameron had back to back meetings with other staff members, so Molly was left to her devices to get settled in. Always being a huge note taker and always had her notepad with her wherever she went, she began taking notes of the things she needed to know for the first few weeks, that she thought she might forget or might need to hand quick. It was while she was taking notes that she heard the elevator ping. Hearing a males voice she looked up. “Dammit Will for the love of God can you just make sure you escort her on that flight so that she can be here start on Monday morning, she has a whole 4 days to get her s**t together”. A low yet raised voice came from the elevator as a tall dark haired man in a maroon suit with a white shirt entered into the walkway heading for Mr Atticus’ door. It was hard to see his face. The gentleman seemed to had ended the call as he pushed the CEO’s door, then rushing back out towards Molly’s office. “Cameron I need you to-“ he paused as he looked through the glass walls. “Your not Cam?” He questioned Molly. “No, sorry it’s my first day. I believe Cameron is still in a meeting would you like me to pass on a message for when he returns?” Replied Molly with an authoritative tone. “Molly isn’t it?” “It is indeed…sorry I didn’t catch your name?” “Ah..I’m James. But when the clients call be sure to use Mr Atticus” he replied. “Oh, I’m sorry Mr Atticus I’ve never actually-“ he interrupted her. “Firstly stop apologising, secondly Miss Cole..your allowed to call me James ya know”. He smiled at her. Molly’s cheeks feeling flushed as he addressed her. James pulled out a chair and sat beside her.
