Love Interview

“HI," A LOUD but soothing voice spoke to her from across the booth. She nudged her large round specs up with her middle knuckle, her sharp green eyes slowly dragging its way from her book to the table to her steaming cup of coffee and to... a boy? "Umm..?" she trailed off, her brows furrowed together. I don't remember having to meet anyone. A boy nonetheless. A cute one that is. His grin widened as he stared back into her eyes before outstretching his hand towards her,"Hi, I'm Lucas Merdoth also known as the column writer for our school's paper." She gingerly took his hand with her own, careful not to not knock over her coffee. "Isabelle Winston," she paused, "Also known as the freshmen of junior year." If it was even possible, his grin seemed to widen at this, "Ohh, I know." Isabelle raised a questioning brow before dismissing it all together,"So you're the kid who writes that gossip section at the back of every paper?" His grin turned into a sheepish one as he rubbed the back of his neck,"Well.. I don't really get to choose what to write. They give me the topic, I ask around then type them out." She flipped a page of her book before taking a sip of her coffee, humming to acknowledge his statement,"Interesting." Lucas stared at her, unsure of how to initiate that he wanted an interview but his worry was thrown out the window when she dog eared the page she was at and closed her book. Isabelle shifted in her seat, aligning herself in front of the blonde. She finally allowed herself to really look at him. Upon analysing his every feature, she came to know that he was one of the senior boys in school that the girls in school gush about. In the past two months that Isabelle has been in this small town, she was informed of the infamous group which consisted of - of course - the hottest boys in town. There were four of them; the bad boy who does nothing but gets into trouble, the quarterback who - well - plays football, the golden boy who is the schools writer and the smart alec who is the head of the student body and by far the smartest student. One thing they all had in common was their looks and wealthy background. So this is the golden boy, Lucas Merdoth. His golden brown eyes stared back into her green ones. He cleared his throat before gesturing to her book,"Got some time for an interview?" She brushed her bangs away from her eyes before shrugging,"Sure. What's it about?" "Well," he shuffled through his book bag, taking out a small stack of papers,"Valentine's day is coming, so I've to write about love." Isabelle cringed. Why am I doing this? Lucas took note of the wince she had made, as though his sentence had bit at her. A sense of regret started to make its way into his gut, making him feel uncomfortable. However, being the kind hearted girl that her parents had raised her to be, she agreed to the interview - causing Lucas to sigh in relief. "Okay, so I'll ask you a few questions and I will be out of your hair," Lucas assured her as he clicked his pen, his hand positioned at the first question on the paper and his body slightly hunched to get a better look at the paper. "First question; do you believe in love?" She scoffed,"No." He glanced up at her from under his long lashes,"Why is that?" She merely shrugged, stirring her coffee that was slowly turning cold,"Why believe in a word that holds no value?"
