Aurora
“You did WHAT?!” Jennifer slammed a stack of patient charts onto my desk, nearly making me jump. I bit back a smile. “I rejected the job offer.” “Please tell me you're joking, Aurora.” “I'm not. I rejected the position with the Blackridge Wolves.” Her mouth fell open. “You rejected a job with one of the biggest hockey organizations in the country?” “I didn't have a choice.” “You had a choice! They offered you the position!” “Before Adrian made the team.” Jennifer went silent for a moment before letting out a disbelieving laugh. “Oh, my God. This is about Adrian....first your f*****g scholarship now these” I looked away. “He's worked for this his entire life.” “So have you!” She pulled out the chair opposite me and sat down, looking at me as though I'd lost my mind. “You've spent years studying physiotherapy because you wanted to pay your father back..... “Dont bring my father into this!!.” Jennifer stared at me. Her angry expression softened. “I'll talk to him about it,” I muttered, reaching for my bag. “I'm clocking out anyway.” Jennifer gave me a look that suggested she had absolutely no faith in my ability to change my mind. “Like that's going to help,” she muttered. Before she could say anything, I adjusted my bag on my shoulder and headed outside, my smile slowly fading as I remembered where I was going. Adrian's house. I needed to talk to my boyfriend about the job I'd rejected for his sake. ... I stared at the mansion in front of me, my slightly dusty shoes tapping against the pavement in rhythm with my heartbeat. This was only the third time I'd visited Adrian's house in our entire relationship. I know. It sounds bad. We'd been together for six years, yet I barely ever came here. The reason was simple, His family hated me. Not the normal kind of dislike, either. They hated the fact that I...a low-class girl...was dating their precious heir. And what had Adrian done to fix it? You already know. Nothing. I rushed toward the mansion. I barely noticed the maids as I hurried past them, throwing quick greetings over my shoulder until I finally reached Adrian's room. I stopped outside the door and took a deep breath. Why was I always so nervous whenever I came here? He was my boyfriend. I'd known him for six years. Yet every time I stood outside his bedroom, my heart acted like I was about to meet him for the first time. “Adrian?” Silence. I slowly pushed the door open. And then I froze. The room filled with moans and the sound of clapping skin. I recognized Adrian’s groans right away. He had a girl on his lap and was f*****g her. My heart skipped. This had to be a dream. His bare, muscular back faced me. Then the girl looked up. It was Stacy Jacobs. Heir to the TV female producer and director Addison Jacobs. The one who was supposed to marry him before I ever came along. The one he said he rejected because of me. The one who kept insisting she was no longer part of his life. When she saw me she smiled, an ugly little smirk. She pulled his face down and kissed him hard, her fingers in his hair, all while staring straight at me. “Mmm, you love the way I’m f*****g you,” she said. “Yeah, I love it, babe.” “Even better than your dumb girlfriend.” He glanced up at her like she’d crossed a line. “For the last time, she’s not my girlfriend.” His voice stayed even as he kept thrusting. “Besides, that boring virgin b***h couldn’t do anything right. She’s slow and pathetic...” I slammed the door. He stopped and looked back. His face stayed blank, like he didn’t care that I just caught him “I thought I told you not to come to my house unless you told me first.” Adrian breathed out like my presence had been nothing more than an inconvenience. "Hold on baby" He released Stacy, picked up the towel from the floor, and casually wrapped it around his waist. "Seriously...I was just about to cúm" Stacy said so I could hear loud and clear He gave a small smile Then he looked at me. Not guilty. “Say whatever you came to say, Aurora. I'm kinda in the middle of something” I stared at him. After everything I'd just seen, those were the words he had for me? “Six years.” My voice cracked. He scoffed. "Oh please... don't tell me you were taking this relationship seriously..." He said "I finally made the team. Why would I celebrate with someone who has nothing to do with my future?" Adrian added I froze, what team? "Oh that right, I haven't told you yet, after three years of trying, I finally go into Wolves." “Six years, Adrian!” My voice cracked. “I sacrificed my own opportunities for you...” Adrian sighed impatiently. “Must you make everything so dramatic?” My heart stopped. He shrugged. “You helped me pass my exams. I kept you around. We both got something out of it.. I mean didn't you love dating the billionaire heir” I shook my head, unable to believe what I was hearing. I stared at him, tears gathering in my eyes. "My scholarship....I gave up my scholarship for you..." My stomach twisted. “Did I force you to do that?” I went still. My mind went blur “My family has money. I have connections. I'm a billionaire heir, and I'm about to become one of the biggest names in professional hockey. You think a girl like you belongs in that world?” A tear slipped down my cheek. I turned back to Adrian. “You know what hurts the most?” I whispered. “I believed in you when nobody else did. When you were failing, I stayed. When you wanted to give up, I pushed you forward. I sacrificed my own opportunities because I thought we were building something together.” My voice trembled. “And now you're standing here acting like you did everything alone.” His expression darkened. “Watch your mouth.” “Why? Because the truth hurts?” I stepped closer. “You had money, tutors, connections, and an entire family willing to give you anything you wanted. Yet you still needed a low-class girl like me to help you get through school.” His jaw clenched. “So tell me, Adrian. Which one of us should be embarrassed?” “Don't flatter yourself!” he snapped. “You helped me with my grades. That's all. You didn't make me a hockey player, and you certainly didn't earn my place on the Wolves.” Adrian stared at me, his breathing hard. “I don't love you anymore, Aurora. I don't want you anymore. And I'm tired of pretending otherwise.” My lips trembled. I couldn't breathe. Six years of memories suddenly felt like a story I'd been telling myself alone. Stacy reached for his hand. “Baby, can you please get her out of here? Looking at her is making me nauseous.” Adrian didn't hesitate. “Get out, Aurora.” I stared at him. “You're going to regret this.” He laughed coldly. “Regret what? Losing a girl who has nothing to offer me anymore?” My hands trembled. He pointed toward the door. I searched his face for even a trace of the boy I'd loved. There was nothing. “You know what, Adrian?” I whispered. “I hope you remember every word you've said to me today.” He rolled his eyes. “I'm sure I'll sleep just fine.” I nodded slowly and turned toward the door. Stacy laughed. “Oh, don't cry, sweetheart. At least you got six years of pretending you were special.” “Shut up!” I snapped. Her smile vanished. “Shut up? Who the hell does this b***h think she is?” She snatched a towel from the bed, wrapped it around herself, and stormed toward me. Before I could react, she grabbed my face, digging her nails into my cheeks.
