Chapter 4 Kris stood nervously in a small in a small courtyard on campus, snow falling softly around her. She’d talked with her mother a few hours ago and had agreed to meet her. The weather was cold but not biting. Kris didn’t mind. She was more focused on what it would be like meeting her parents after everything that had transpired since the last time she had talked to them. “Do you see them yet?” she asked. Tawni stood next to her, scanning the students moving to and from classes. The day was growing long, and the sun was sinking below the clouds, giving the dead trees an eerie glow.
