Third Person POV
The next morning, Stacy woke up at 5:30 in the morning. It was now the third day that Stacy has been studying under Frank to cure her anxiety. Stacy could only do one thing, which was open a portal to only one shrine in Tokyo. Stacy would wash her face with a simple face wash with shaky determination, change into her Yoga outfit of grey yoga pants, and instead of an AC/DC tank top, today it was a Rolling Stone tank. She headed to the dojo behind the house. Frank was already in his white judo gear doing some meditation of his own in the middle of the room.
“Good morning sleepy head!”
Frank said with a warm smile. Stacy was still sleepily rubbing the nightmare away from her eyes. She could not understand why Frank can be so bright and awake at such an early time in the morning.
“So, let’s begin today’s lesson.”
Said Frank as he tightened his Judo wear belt.
Stacy and Frank sat on the floor facing each other like the day before and meditated.
“Deep breathing.”
Said Frank as they both took a deep breath.
“Now Stacy, I want you to keep your eyes shut.”
Frank instructed, and Stacy nodded.
“OK.”
She said.
Then Frank snapped his fingers twice. Stacy began to hear multiple voices as if she was sitting and meditating in the middle of a crowd. Stacy began to feel nervous. The Shaman can see Stacy’s eyebrows move nervously.
“Now relax. Inhale deeply through your nose. Breath out with your lips when you exhale.”
Stacy did accordingly to how Frank instructed.
“Think about a quiet river or the woods back in Harrisonburg.”
Said Frank and Stacy did so.
Her hands began to sweat and Stacy’s breathing began to become heavier. She can still hear the crowd and she was about to hyperventilate.
The Shaman snapped his fingers twice again and the voices in the crowd disappeared.
“Now lay on your back and relax Stacy. Let’s regulate your breathing before we try again.”
Frank said.
Stacy did so. She had her eyes closed. She worked on normalizing her breathing. After a few minutes, Stacy felt relaxed, but she also realized there was so much more to learn.
After about an hour of repeating the same exercise over and over again, Frank called for a break and returned with a tray filled with breakfast goodies. A glass of lemon water, a lightly toasted bagel with jam and cream cheese, slices of bacon, and an assortment of fruit.
“Are you hungry?”
He said with a smile.
Stacy felt her stomach rumble. She blushed.
“You read my mind.”
Frank smirked at the irony of the comment.
“Another skill you’ll learn in Japan.”
He said and placed the tray of food and drink in front of Stacy. Stacy sat up and began to munch on the bagel.
“So, today will be your first day of work. Here is some information about today’s training session.” Frank explained a little bit about the contents of the information in the packet.
Stacy looked at the packet Frank handed to her. It contained the address of the training session, who the instructors are, a brief description of the company, and much more. Stacy’s eyes seemed to pop out just looking at the large packet.
“You will be working as an Assistant Language Teacher. It’s being the foreign figure at an English class of Japanese schools.”
Stacy felt nervous about the job. The job description was briefly explained to her before she came to Japan but now that day has come to start working, she is worried whether she can go through with this or not.
“There will only be a few people at the training today. I know you will be fine Stacy. I believe in you.” Frank said to Stacy as he gave her a hard pat on the back with the sound of impact on her back echoing throughout the dojo.
“Be sure to take the packet with you when you go to your training later this morning. I also have something else to give you before you go.” Which was Frank’s last instruction for their morning training.
“Sure thing” Stacy replied, “I better get ready for the training, not sure what to wear,” Stacy said to Frank as the two of them got up from their relaxing breakfast overlooking the rock garden. “Well, everything you need to know is in the packet,” Frank told Stacy, hoping to avoid another conversation that could lead to disaster for the werebear.
Toya’s POV
During our dinner party, father decided to call out Frank about the anomaly. I am not sure why dad did that considering I have been monitoring Tokyo the past few months. But the way Frank looked at me, pleading for help I complied. There has to be a reason he avoided answering directly. Maybe Frank was being honest and didn’t know anything. He knew I have been in Tokyo, probably figured I would know about the anomaly. Of course, in reality, I have no idea where to start looking for it.
After dinner, Frank politely hurried home. Maybe something was up, but I’m not going to push the subject just yet. He has always followed our laws and rules. There is no reason he wouldn’t start now. Yakumo and I took a portal to my penthouse in Roppongi. The view is nice, not as great as the one at my private residence near Lake Biwa. But Yakumo loved the view of the apartment in Tokyo. Or at least the women he brings home do. A bachelor pad is what I wanted and my interior designer didn’t disappoint.
The dark Italian leather couches in the living room face outwards to overlook Tokyo Tower, kitchen to the left with a full 6 seat kitchen island, and a 12 seat dining table in the room farther behind. Unlike my father who prefers a more traditional woodwork style, I prefer a sleek modern feel. All the furniture is either black or white with clean straight lines in contrast to the white with gold-trimmed walls. Although the gold accents were Yakumo’s idea, anything with color and extravagance is his doing. I can’t complain too much since he stays here more often than I do.
I get to work once we arrived. Changing my clothes from the traditional cotton Yukata to a more western look with dress slacks and a white buttoned-down shirt. I kept the collar open, sleeves rolled up, I needed my Tokyo intel crew to know I am here to work and we won’t stop until we find this anomaly.
