Chapter 6

Frank's POV It was time that I gave some sort of cover story for Stacy. Being an Omega wolf, I didn’t think she would be noticed. Unless the king is talking about a different anomaly.  “There have been more portals opening from the demon realm in Tokyo recently,” I reply, trying to hide Stacy’s presence. Waiting for the king to respond, I look at Toya who is sitting nearby on the other side of the table. Hoping for some help as I try to contain my composure.  “The anomaly felt more like an animal from America.” The King solemnly replied, looking at each of us now, waiting for an explanation as to how an unmonitored supernatural being entered his kingdom without clearance.  “Yakumo and I will investigate the anomaly in Tokyo, father. We were just there earlier and will continue our investigation. There should be nothing to worry about.” Toya responded to his father, with a reassuring determination written all over his face. Thank the Moon Goddess too. If there was one person, or being in this case, that would be merciful towards Stacy, it would be Toya.  The last time a werewolf was in Japan, they were sent home immediately before they even left the airport. The excuse was that drugs were found to be in their possession. Sure there were drugs, but it was Wolfsbane. And centuries before that, any werewolves that entered the Golden Moon Kingdom were sent home in body bags. As to why the Golden Moon Court discourages werewolves is still a puzzle to me.  Having been able to avoid a disaster with the king, at least temporarily, our dinner party came to an end. It was now time for me to return home to prepare for Stacy’s training. Third-person POV The back of the house where Stacy and Shaman Frank are residing had a dojo that was wide enough to fit about 50 people to practice martial arts. The wooden dojo looked like it came out of an anime illustration. With the thin paper sliding doors on all four sides. A high ceiling with aged wooden beams that hipsters would love to have in their farmhouse homes. A soft scent of incense lingered behind Frank on the offering altar. Frank sat with his back at the altar looking out of the opened doors into a zen rock garden. The rocks made perfect circular lines using all their energy to aid in Stacy’s first meditation session. Stacy and Frank were sitting on the floor facing each other in the middle of the empty dojo, with their legs crossed. Frank was in his Judo outfit with a black belt. Stacy was in her black with pink striped yoga pants and a black AC/DC tank top.  The two sat there with their eyes closed with the whistling of a mild wind walking by as the only background music.  They sat on the tatami mat made of a bamboo straw for half an hour, simply practicing breathing.  “Deep breath through your nose and relax.” Said Frank as he and Stacy did the breathing a few times. Then Frank and Stacy opened their eyes. Frank continues to explain.   “Anxiety comes from fear.“ He said and then he pointed to his head.  “Fear comes from the mind.” He said and he laid his hand gently back to rest on his thighs.  “When one is in a space with many people, they become overstimulated and overwhelmed. While many people are used to being in this type of situation, some people like you Stacy feel fear.” Frank continued. “Neuroscientists would say it is the chemical distribution disorder that causes anxiety, but it is more of an instinctive thing which has nothing to do with a disorder.” Stacy sat and listened intently.  “Our modern world where we live is ruled by laws, for example, it is illegal to kill or hurt one another. Most people are blindly confident about the rule of the law that they assume that the crowd can not and will not hurt or kill them and they take it for granted. But rule by law is itself a very unnatural thing. Dogs or cats do not have laws or lawyers.” Stacy nodded to Frank’s explanation. “People like us, werewolves and werebears, we are a part human and part animal, living in human civilization, but we also have a stronger instinct compared to regular humans that come from our wolf or bear side. Also, in our world, rival packs may hurt or even kill us even though we are all living in human society or ruled by the law. That is why we tend to have or easily develop anxiety compared to regular humans.” Frank continued.  “In your case, witnessing the death of your father caused you to develop and have anxiety.” Frank was blunt about mentioning Stacy’s father. Stacy tried to hold back her tears remembering the love she has for her father. She never really talked about what happened to her father or what she witnessed during the rogue raid that took her father from her on her 18th birthday. Frank was probably told about how her father died from Alpha Kane.  “Because deep down inside of you, you have the feeling of fear that you will be next, or somebody from a rival pact has sent an assassin to hunt you for what you might have seen. Not knowing who or what would kill you can and will be a scary thing.”  Frank continued with the explanation to aid Stacy to recognize her fear.  “But it is important to know that such a thing is statistically low in possibility. Also, if you can get into and maintain the state of awareness, but get used to your fear so that you don’t have to exhaust yourself, and have the confidence that you can handle such a situation, it will become a cure for your anxiety.”   Stacy sighed. “You make it sound so easy, Frank.” She said.  “That is why I am going to teach you how to control your anxiety. And in the process, I will also teach you other things. Let’s start on how to use the portal. Are you ready for this?” Frank looked straight into Stacy’s grey eyes. “Heck yeah!” Said Stacy with a smile.
