Mike went to bed, alone. The other guest rooms in the penthouse were occupied by his squad, who’d ribbed him gently about living the high life. Green had also stripped down to his shorts and done a cannonball into the pool, but somehow Mike couldn’t complain. In fact, the penthouse hadn’t seemed so alive since Mike moved in. Sometimes Mike wondered about Bio Dad, who had a name Mike hadn’t ever bothered to learn. Would Bio Dad approve of the way Mike had expanded his business? Would he approve of the way he’d lived his life since Mike took over? Would he observe the shenanigans going on now, with six scarred men the Army used up and cast aside, with a fond smile, or would he turn his back on Mike the way he had when he found out Mike’s mom was pregnant? Did it matter? Mike ordered food
