Owen
Owen found himself drawn to a bright light and it gave him a warming comfort as he got closer to it. He saw parts of his life as he floated toward the light. He saw him and his brother as toddlers running around their bedroom playing space men. He saw his mother cooking his favorite meal, he could smell it too. She looked at him and smiled. He saw his father cheering him on a high school football game. The light continued to get closer and the feeling warmer he did not want to stop. He saw himself looking at Jezzabelle from outside the restaurant that night he met her, and it pulled at his heart strings. She was talking with another man even smiled at him. He started feeling jealous, she was his and he saw it on his face while he made his way up to the door of the restaurant. Then he saw her laying on the bed asking him to take her, she was so beautiful, he thought to himself as he watched himself make love with her for the first time. The light was so strong now, so warm and it was beckoning him.
Suddenly there was a dark figure between him and the light, it made him feel anger. He started to come closer to him and he could feel his adrenaline kick in getting ready for a fight. He was still floating but now he did not see any loved ones, only darkness. The light was almost completely gone as the dark figure got closer to him. He felt a hit on his chest, and it knocked the wind out of him and pushed him so far away from the light he did not see it anymore.
He heard Jezzabelle screaming his name, she was desperate for something. He needed to protect her, he needed to see her. He felt his eyes open, and the bright light forced him to close his eyes and hold up his hand to protect his eyes. He felt Brenden rush past him and take over.
Jezz
Jezz almost lost control when Owen became unresponsive. Nishiime was howling for Brenden who was not answering. His skin got colder and colder as she screamed louder and louder. Tears rushed out of her eyes and she could barely see what she was doing. She could feel him slipping from her grasp, she could feel his life drifting away from her. It was her most desperate moment when she felt a steady hand on her shoulder. It was Nash, she looked in his eyes and backed away from her mate.
Nash took Owen’s head in his hands and closed his eyes and brought them forehead to forehead. Shaking with difficulty he sent Colton into Owen. If anything separated them from each other Colton would be stuck inside Owen and Nash would die. Colton found himself with a light behind him and Owen dreamily floating towards the light and he was the only thing that was in the way. He charged him, making him aware that he was being threatened. With all his might he slammed his shoulder into Owens’s chest pushing him as from the light as he possibly could. Just as fast as he had appeared Colton returned to Nash. This maneuver they called “shadowing” can only happen between identical twin and Nash knew it was the only way to reach his brother. He was relieved to feel the life return to his brother but knew he needed medical attention. Over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, it was hard to decide what to do.
Nash gave Owen back to his mate where he really needed to be and walked toward the cockpit of the plane. “What is the closest destination that we can land and get good medical care?” He asked after he greeted everyone.
“Home.” The pilot stated, “There are a few islands that we pass over on the way to Miami but there would not be good medical care.”
“Please get us there as fast as possible and I will call ahead and have an ambulance waiting for us on the tarmac. Your Beta requires immediate medical attention.” Nash began to pull out his phone and the pilots nodded to him and he nodded back taking his leave back to the living area.
He stopped texting and looked up at his family who was still looking at him with mouths open and he realized that they did not know about shadowing. It was quite violent to watch so I am sure they were concerned for both of them. He looked at Dallas and walked towards her putting his phone in his pocket. Dugan was giving him a half smile because he knew they could do that, but he did not tell anyone else what they had just witnessed. Jezz was holding Owen close to her and Nash noticed that Brendon was still in control but doing everything he could to get Owen stronger and keeping his mate close as possible. He stopped once he got next to Dallas.
“What was that exactly?” Dallas asked the only obvious question.
“Twin werewolves can sometimes shadow each other or share wolves for a brief time. I sent Colton in to bring Owen and Brenden back from the edge. He was dying and Colton saved him for now. He needs medical attention, and it will be waiting for us in Miami.” Nash was looking and talking to everyone.
“Did it hurt?” Dallas placed her hand on his arm with concern in her voice.
“Not as bad as losing my twin brother would but it’s not a cure-all move. I only stopped him, but I cannot heal him.” Nash said the last part with regret.
“I think we can, can’t we Mother?” That word was still so strange for her to say but she was getting used to it.
“You can my darling, and we can help you.” She took Dugan’s hand in hers and walked toward her. “Place your hands around his head, like you are holding him to look at you.” Dallas reached for him and Brenden tried to avoid her. He did not want her touch, but she prevailed. “Now Jezz I want you to push your energy into him, I will lay my hand on you Dallas as will Nash and Dugan’s hand on me. Together we act like laser with our energy each person accentuating the next.” Namid became quite and could feel the energy from Dugan and her hands warmed upon Dallas’s shoulder.
Dallas saw a light glow from her hands, and she felt Winona begin to chant something in Native American and the light became warmer and brighter. Brenden closed his eyes and just let the energy come, he could feel his headache disappear and the ringing in his ears stopped. The pain on the left side of his face subsided and the numbing burning in his left arm also retracted. He was having a stroke and Dallas found it and cleared the bleeding on the brain and restored him to good health.
She felt exhausted from the effects and began dropping to the floor when Owen caught her in his arms. He seemed unaware of what was happening looking genuinely concerned for Dallas. Nash quickly took her in his arms and helped to restore her energy. “Is she okay Nash?” He asked with true concern.
“Yes, she just worked her healing powers on you, and it must have taken it’s toll. I will take her back to our room and lay her down.” Nash easily scooped her up in his arms and left the room with her.
“What did that mean?” Owen asked with a perplexed look in his eyes.
Jezz, who was almost unable to talk, turned him around and he was astonished and instantly concerned for his mate. Through her crying gasps for air “She…she saved your…your life like she…she saved mine.” She tossed herself in his arm and they were so strong folding her in next to him she wanted to stay there forever.
“What?” He more asked Dugan and Namid as he held Jezz close.
“You must’ve had some residual injury from the bomb and with all the recent activity you maybe relapsed or something. You will be going to a check up as soon as we get home. Nash already has an ambulance with a doctor waiting at the airport.” Dugan answered with both his hands on Namid’s shoulders.
Owen nodded and sat down with Jezz still crying on his chest. He just rocked her and stroked her hair trying to calm her down. He thought about the first time he saw her, walking out of that perfect tiny little house in her bright yellow dress. Her hair blowing in the spring breeze as she opened the car door. How she could sense his presence and looked right at him burning a hole through his heart. He sent her those feeling through the bond and she began to calm down. When she looked back up at him her hair was all disheveled and her eyes were swollen from tears and she looked like the most beautiful girl in the world to him. Those tears were for him, they showed how much she loved and cared for him. He smiled at her and wiped a tear away and then slid his hand around her neck and the base of her head pulling in her for a kiss. Suddenly he wanted her so badly he could hardly wait to get her alone. He pulled away before it got out of hand and she laid her head on his chest.
“He is so good for her.” Namid watched them interact and saw the love between them. She felt Dugan leave her and she turned and looked and saw he went into the next room. She followed; she had not really had any time to talk with him. She came around the corner and he was looking at her with emotions swirling around him. She smiled at him with a slight side look as she approached him her heartbeat quickened as she got closer to him.
“I wanted to get you alone and finish what we started.” He was taken by her simple natural beauty, her hair danced with the air and his pulse quickened as she approached him with that sly smile he would grow to love. He reached his arm around her waist and pulled her close. He brought his face close to hers but resisted kissing her. He wanted to feel her, feel her heartbeat and her excitement. When he was satisfied, he placed his lips on her ever so gently almost teasing her. The kiss grew in passion as she reached her arms around his neck and pulled her body closer to his and it felt so good to her and she let herself get lost in this kiss. Talking in the other room pulled her back to reality and she pulled away from him.
“We will finish that later, Dugan.” He loved hearing her say his name. She walked back into the next room and saw Nash was back without Dallas.
“There you are Namid. How long will it take Dallas to re-coup her energy? Is this normal?” Nash was genuinely concerned for her.
“Healing takes a lot of energy. She had just done Jezzabelle and maybe was just a bit more depleted going into healing Owen. Give her some time to sleep.” Namid sat down on a couch and Dugan was right behind her. Nash took notice and looked back and forth, and they answered his unasked question with big smiles and she placed her hand on his knee leaning into him. To say he was surprised would have been lacking description.
