Coming Home

Dallas woke up to the gentle rocking from Nash on her shoulder.  She felt every muscle in her body stretch as she moved to look at him.  She had been totally spent a few hours ago and now she wondered how long she had been asleep. “We are just starting to land Babe.  I didn’t want the landing to wake you and scare you.” Nash snuggled in next to her kissing her neck.  Her scent intoxicating him and making him feel stronger.  He knew he was running on wolf strength and Colton was getting tired.  He just wanted to get home and go to bed if he really wanted to be truthful. “You are so sweet.  How did I get so lucky?” Dallas folded her fingers in his and took in a deep breath.  He made everything alright for her.  If she was tired, he gave her energy if she was scared, he gave her calm.  She never wanted to be without him again.  “How is Owen?” “He is perfect.  I can’t say the same for Jezz tho, she is still reeling from everything.” Dallas started to sit up even though it was like lifting a 1,000 pounds.  Nash held her down with the one arm around her. “She is fine and Owen is working her through everything.  It is literally his job as a mate.  She will be just fine.” He assured Dallas as she laid back down oddly feeling okay with relinquishing her older sister tendency to be overprotective to Owen.  “I know she will be.  She is pretty resilient; more than me, she always sees the bright spot in every situation.” Dallas relaxed and felt the plane start to make its way to landing. Back at the condo Nash had called ahead and had the staff clean and furnish the condo next to theirs for Namid and now Dugan.  They made their way toward the elevator and the staff was all smiles but kept their distance.  In the elevator he handed the key to the condo to Dugan and Namid.  “I will walk you over there but I am sure you don’t need a tour.  This is YOUR condo and you can decorate it however you want.  I can get you in touch with the decorators when you are ready.” Nash paused for a moment and looked at both of them. “We will probably not be leaving our condo for a while, but we will be in touch soon.  You are always welcome to come over too.” Namid looked at her daughters and saw how tired they were “Yes, rest is on all of our minds.  We will have plenty of time soon.” She smiled showing her perfect teeth and reached out and touched each daughter looking them in the eye.  They both nodded in agreement and then the elevator binged noting that their ride was done. Nash led the way holding Dallas close as he walked up to the door and then stepping out of the way allowing Dugan to open the door.  They said their goodbyes and the four left Namid and Dugan in the doorway of their condo. Dugan was older, probably 50 something.  He knew things only time could teach you.  His hair was black with some grey strands and parted on the side and his hair floated over his forehead and sometimes touched his long eyelashes.  His eyes were a dark yellow/green with big black eyebrows.  His chin had a dimple and when he smiled, he had a small dimple on each side.  His skin was tanned by the sun but naturally paler compared to Namid.  Before Namid could say anything, he scooped her up in his arms and carried her over the threshold.  She smiled at him not wanting to complain that he was pulling her hair.  She swung her arms around his neck and looked around.  He walked her back to the bedroom and her heart started beating wildly.  He noticed it and gently put her down, so they were standing face to face. “I…..I” Namid was not sure how to put anything into words. Dugan gently took both her hands in his and knelt in front of her. “My darling, you never ever need to explain anything to me.  I am here, I will always be here and when you are ready for anything I am here. Please know that and do not ever feel you need to explain anything to me.” He kissed both her hands and he felt her calm down a bit. He stood up next to her and turned her around to show her the view. The view took her breath away.  The sun danced off the ocean waves with boats, yachts, jet ski’s and all kinds of other things happening on the ocean.  It was beautiful to her.  She walked up to the window and stood and watched life happen.  Dugan came up next to her and slid his arms around her waist pulling her close to him and kissed the side of her neck.  She felt her wolf for the first time in a long time and she was happy.  “What would you like your first meal to be here?” Dugan asked as they looked out the window. “What is your favorite meal?” She honestly had no idea what she liked anymore.  To even have a choice was new for her. “I like Mahi Mahi.  Its’ a fish and it is fresh.  I like it with a mango salsa and fresh fruit.”  He pulled away from her mostly because he could not take it anymore, his wolf was screaming for her.  He smiled at her when she looked at him.  He hoped that he did not look too desperate. “I would love to try that.  I have never heard of any of those things.”   She said as she turned in his acutely aware of the feelings, she was getting from him. “Fine it’s settled then.” He pulled away from her desperate to gain control of his wolf “Mahi Mahi it is!” I will call and have some brought up.  He walked out of the bedroom wondering how he was going to keep control. ‘Trenton!’ Dugan shouted at his wolf ‘Our mate has been through a lot.  We are not going to be able to seal the mating bond tonight and maybe not for a while. Please control yourself and just enjoy what you can.’ ‘I can’t make promises I can’t keep.’ Trenton said back in a deep dark voice. ‘No promises have been made. Please just have patience my friend, it will be okay.’ ‘It was not okay last time. Remember that.’ Trenton had almost a sharp tone to his words this time and then closed the connection.  Dugan knew he was right as he thought about his first mate.  Losing her was extremely hard on both and they had to work hard together to get to this point.  They were a team, but Trenton still has a lot of resentment towards Dugan. “Hello?” He heard the lady on the other end of the phone, and it pulled him back to reality.  He ordered their food and started looking around the condo.  Some his stuff was there from his place and he noticed that they had gotten some cloths for Namid.  He looked through it and pulled out something he thought would look nice on her.  “Hey dinner will be a bit.  Looks like we have everything we need to shower.  I think I will go over to the other bathroom and shower if you want to use this one?” Namid agreed and made her way toward the bathroom.  He watched after her and then laid the outfit he picked out on the bed.  He looked at the closed bathroom door and started to imagine a day when he would be able to join her.  He took a deep breath thankful that Trenton had locked himself away for now and made his way to the other bathroom. Namid stood in this huge bathroom full of mirrors and sinks and flowers and towels.  The towels were so soft and smooth.  The shower was huge with a glass front to show off the beautiful tiles in the shower.  She noted shampoos and conditioners.  When was the last time she used conditioner?  The soap smelled fantastic, like lilacs and vanilla.  She looked in the mirror and was able to see her entire body for the first time in a long time.  She took her clothes off; it was the red dress that Gibbe had gotten her.  It was ugly with big flowers on it, and it just hung from her and you did not know where her body was in it. She watched the dress fall to the ground and then she looked at it.  Suddenly she could not control herself, she found the scissors in the drawer and she started screaming and cutting the dress up, tears burned her eyes as they fell one after another.  The dress could not be cut up enough as she slashed it again and again.  She maybe heard Dugan knock and say something out the door, but she would never be able to say for sure.  In her fury she looked at her hair that fell in her way and she grabbed it and cut it off.  The screams coming from her body were not hers.  She barely noticed that Dugan kicked in the door and grabbed her hand with the scissors and pulled her close to him. Tears flowed, she sobbed and sobbed and just let it all out.  She cried for the years that were stolen from her, her daughters that were stolen from her.  She cried for her first mate; how could she love another?  He has been everything to her these last 30 years.  She has been keeping his memory alive.  She was so angry, so hurt and so lonely.  After a while, her sobs faded a bit and she started to realize what had happened.  She pulled back and looked at Dugan and he had blood on his face and all over his chest.  He saw the look in her eyes as she noticed he had blood on him and he felt her emotions.  It scared her to think that he was injured.  “You cut yourself with the scissors by accident.  This is not my blood.” She let out a cry of relief and he pulled her back to his bare chest. ‘Yeah, she is going to need some time.  She is going to be worth it.’ Dugan heard Trenton say to him and closed the connection again. They sat on the bathroom floor long enough for dinner to come and go untouched and he just held her and rocked her.  Saying supportive things and just letting her cry on him.  He was sending her calming vibes through the mating bond, but he also wanted her to get it all out.
