Safety
I told you she wouldn’t be able to handle it. The bond was too much! I’m surprised she’s even moving. A voice whispered, heavy through Samantha’s ears, trembling as each word cut through the shrouded mist covering her mind.
Darkness was all she could see once again, one she knew from her lost sleeping days, trickling down her spine as the feel of something soft brushed against her skin triggered her nonreactive state. Her arms quivered from a burn of warmth echoing over them, creasing its way over her body.
The aches she had felt all throughout the day had started to fade away, the warmth caressing every inch of her, curling her toes in relief as she finally relaxed against the firm ground below her, never minding the voices still whispering around her.
