Nicole Heartwick isn’t just any werewolf—she is the first Red Wolf in centuries, a creature of legend and prophecy. Some say she will save their kind. Others whisper she will destroy them all.

As the only daughter of the Shadow Blood Pack’s Alpha, her fate is clear: claim her mate, ascend the throne, and lead her kind into a new era.

But then she finds him.

Nathaniel Heth. A human.

Or so he seems.

Nate knows nothing of werewolves, soulmates, or fate. He doesn’t believe in prophecy. He doesn’t believe in monsters.

But he is one.

His dormant bloodline is older than the packs themselves, tied to a lineage long thought extinct. His mother died to keep his secret. His father bound his wolf to protect him.

And now? The cage around his beast is breaking.

If Nicole doesn’t claim him and complete the bond, his transformation will be violent and uncontrollable—a m******e waiting to happen.

And worse—other packs already know what he is.

They will come for him. They will own him.

To protect him, Nicole must train and claim him and awaken his wolf before someone else does.

But Nate isn’t ready for war. He isn’t a soldier. He isn’t a killer. And he sure as hell isn’t ready to belong to anyone.

Yet the bond is relentless. It will not be denied.

If he refuses it, he will die.

If he accepts it, he will never be human again.

With time running out and enemies circling, Nicole must turn a human into an Alpha before they both lose everything.

And if she fails?

The Blood Moon will rise, and the world will burn.

Prologue
Twelve Years Ago The night smelled like smoke and fear. Isabella Heth ran through the forest, her breath coming in sharp gasps, her boots sinking into the damp earth with every desperate step. She couldn’t stop. She couldn’t slow down. Because if she did—they would find her. She clutched her stomach, a sharp pain curling through her ribs. The baby inside her was restless, as if he knew. As if he could sense the danger chasing them through the dark. A distant howl split the night air. Too close. They were coming. She pushed herself harder, heart pounding, lungs burning. One more mile. Just one more. She could make it to the cabin. To Daniel. She had given up everything for him. Her pack. Her title. Her entire world. And she would do it all again. Because her mate—her true mate—was human. And now, their child was something neither world had ever seen before. Half-wolf. Half-human. Something more. And the wolves hunting her? They knew it. A branch snapped behind her. She whirled, claws unsheathing instinctively. Her breath came in ragged bursts as she scanned the trees. Silence. Then A shadow stepped forward. Isabella’s stomach dropped. The elder was dressed in black, his silver hair slicked back, his eyes cold as death. Marcus. “You thought you could run forever, Isabella?” His voice was calm. Too calm. “Did you really think we wouldn’t come for him?” She swallowed hard. “He’s mine.” Marcus sighed, shaking his head. “No, child. He belongs to the pack.” Isabella snarled. “Not anymore.” Marcus tilted his head. “And what of him?” She flinched. Her hand instinctively went to her stomach. Marcus smiled slightly. “Ah. So you do know.” A chill ran down her spine. “I know he’s mine,” she said, forcing her voice to stay steady. Marcus took a slow step forward. “He is more than yours, Isabella. His blood is old. Stronger than any Alpha born before him.” His gaze sharpened. “And if his wolf awakens, he won’t belong to you anymore.” She bared her teeth. “He will never belong to you.” Marcus exhaled. “Then it’s a shame you won’t live to see him grow.” Then—he moved. Too fast. Isabella barely had time to dodge the blade as he slashed at her. The silver dagger sang through the air, missing her throat by inches. Pain exploded in her side as the tip grazed her ribs. She staggered, her vision blurring with red. No. Not like this. She clenched her jaw, ignoring the pain. She lunged forward, claws tearing through flesh, her wolf roaring inside her. Marcus hissed, stumbling back. It was the only opening she needed. She turned—and ran. Faster than she ever had. The cabin came into view, candlelight flickering behind the windows. Daniel. She burst through the door, slamming it shut behind her. Her mate was already moving. “Isabella?” Daniel was at her side in an instant, hands gripping her arms, his eyes scanning her bloodied side. “What happened?” She gasped, gripping his shirt. “They found us.” Daniel’s face hardened. No fear. No hesitation. Just the fierce, unwavering loyalty that had made her fall in love with him. “We need to leave,” he said. She shook her head. “We can’t. They’ll follow us anywhere.” Daniel’s throat bobbed as he swallowed. His gaze flicked to her stomach. Their son. His jaw tightened. Then—resolve. “There’s another way.” His voice was quiet. “I can protect him.” She froze. She knew what he meant. “No.” She shook her head fiercely. “Daniel, you can’t.” “It’s the only way, Isabella.” Her chest ached. Because she knew he was right. A low, distant howl carried through the trees. Time was running out. Daniel cupped her face. Gentle. Steady. Unshakable. “Trust me.” Tears burned her eyes. She didn’t want to. She didn’t want to give up their son’s wolf. But if she didn’t? They would never stop hunting him. She closed her eyes. Breathed. Then, slowly, she nodded. Daniel pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “I love you.” Then he turned and began the spell. Isabella clutched her stomach, feeling the first tendrils of magic curling through the air. And deep inside her womb, their son’s wolf went silent. Bound. Caged. And for twelve years, it would sleep. Until the day he found his mate. Until the day his blood awakened. And when it did The world would tremble.
