47 I took the opportunity to jump onto a train so I could thumb through a glossy bridalwear magazine on my way into the city. There was nothing that caught my fancy. I had it clearly in my mind that I wanted peach, with Heather and her youngest daughter in dresses that were to be about two shades paler. I also hoped my designs, with a little alteration, might be used again. When I had it right, I was to send my mother my sketches and the material. There was still no word from my father, and if it had not been for Tony, I doubt that I would have got through that dreadful time. As it was, my mother’s letters were heartbreaking.
