Chapter Eleven

1302 Words
“She still gets nightmares about her mom occasionally, and she gets really scared when it storms. She always ends up in one of our beds on those nights.” Tyler says with a more serious voice. I nod my head; I remember how bad her nightmares were when she was younger. I thought maybe she had outgrown them. “Good morning, guys.” Adalina’s soft voice comes from the doorway. Before I can turn to see her, I feel her arms wrap around my waist from behind. Her soft body presses into mine and I have to bite my tongue to keep from groaning out loud. “Good morning baby.” I say as I rub her arm. “How did you sleep?” “Good.” She says as she releases her hold on my waist, placing a kiss on my cheek, before doing the same to the other guys. Adalina is still wearing her tight tank top and short shorts and I really wish she hadn’t come downstairs wearing that. “Good morning baby.” They each say as she hugs them. “What is everyone doing today?” Adalina asks in her sweet innocent voice as she pours herself a cup of coffee. “I have to go to the jobsite, to make sure everyone knows what they’re doing before I leave to start a new job.” Spencer says. Spencer owns his own construction company, but even though he is the boss he still works all the time. He says he likes being there with his guys. “You work too much.” Adalina says with a soft smile. “I’m going to get my classroom ready for the second semester since I won’t be back from my parents until right before Christmas break ends.” Tyler says. He has been a teacher at our old high school for the past few years. Tyler loves it, but I don’t see why anyone would graduate school and want to go right back to being at school every damn day. Adalina pouts, “I can’t believe you are going to be gone all Christmas break. I am going to miss you so much.” “I am going to miss you too baby, but I will make sure to bring you something really special home.” Tyler says with a wink, making Adalina blush. “What are you doing today Jace?” Adalina asks. “I have a photoshoot this evening, but I’m not doing anything until then.” Jace says with a smile. Adalina smiles “And what about you Austin?” She asks turning to look at me. “I have no plans.” I say shrugging. “So, we can do whatever you want.” Adalina gives me a mischievous smile. “Great.” Oh God. It’s going to be a long day. I have a feeling she has some torturous plans in mind. Not that I really mind, but I wish she wasn’t sleeping with Jace. If she was single, I would have jumped all over her last night. Spencer and Tyler, leave to get ready for work, leaving me, Adalina, and Jace alone in the kitchen. “What do you want to do today?” I ask Adalina, with genuine curiosity. “Ummmm.” Adalina says pausing. “It’s really cold outside today, how about we just stay in and watch some scary movies. We can cuddle up on the couch and drink some hot cocoa.” Adalina says with a huge smile. How can anyone say no to that smile? Jace and I exchange a glance before agreeing to Adalina’s suggestion. “Yay!” Adalina says clapping her hands together. I chuckle softly. “I’m going to go change for the day and I will be back to pick out some movies.” Adalina runs out of the kitchen smiling like a kid in a candy store. Jace and I laugh as we watch her running out of the kitchen. Once we are standing alone in the kitchen the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Jace knows Adalina’s feelings towards me, and I know what he has been doing with her, making things very awkward between the two of us. After a couple minutes of standing in awkward silence I decide to try and cut through the tension. “What kind of photoshoot are you doing later?” I asked Jace trying to make small talk. Jace clears his throat, shocked by my sudden question. “Umm it’s an engagement shoot. The couple is getting married in about three weeks.” Jace says with clear excitement in his voice. Jace has always been obsessed with photography even as a teenager. We all played football together in high school, but he preferred being on the sidelines with a camera more than being in the game where the action was. “Oh nice. That sounds like fun.” I say with a small smile. “Yeah.” Jace says. Another long stretch of awkward silence ensues, and I wish Adalina would hurry the hell up. I glance at Jace as he sips from his coffee and decide I will wait in the living room for Adalina. It may be silent in here but at least it’s not awkward. Taking a seat in the recliner I scroll through a few emails before Adalina finally comes back downstairs. Adalina walks in wearing a pair of black tight short yoga shorts and a clingy white t-shirt that does nothing to hide her beautiful curves. I watch as she bends over the coffee table to grab the T.V. remote, making her shorts ride up a little. The bottom of her ass is peaking out of her shorts, and I bite my tongue to silence the groan building in my throat. Adalina sits on the middle cushion of the couch, turning the T.V. on she scrolls through the streaming services as she picks a new scary movie that just came out. “This one is supposed to be really scary, lots of jump scares.” Adalina says with half excited half terrified eyes. She is just so damn cute. “Jace, we are ready in here.” Adalina yells towards the kitchen. A couple moments later Jace strolls into the living room, and flops down on the couch next to Adalina. “This is that new movie that’s supposed to be super scary right?” Jace asks Adalina. “Yes. I am kind of freaking out, but I am so excited.” Adalina says excitedly. Jace laughs softly. “Don’t worry if it gets too scary, I’ll protect you.” Jace says with a wink. Adalina nudges Jace with her elbow, before looking over at me. “What about you Austin? Will you protect me?” Adalina asks with a flirtatious tone. “Of course, I will baby.” I say with a smile. I can feel Jace glaring at me, which only makes me smile bigger. I love how much it bothers him that me and Adalina made up. “Wellllll” Adalina says pouting at me. “How are you going to protect me from all the way over there?” Adalina pats the empty cushion next to her. “Come sit by me please.” I smile at Adalina for a second before granting her request. Sitting down next to her on the couch I graze her thigh with my hand on accident causing her to shiver. I love how her body reacts to even the lightest of my touches. “Are you cold baby?” Jace asks. Adalina’s face turns a light shade of red, as she clears her throat. “Umm, yeah can you hand me the blanket please?”
