Alexa POV Tonight was the annual gala my dad threw to celebrate another fruitful year of success and high sales in his business. As the daughter of a high-profile, wealthy man, I was required to attend these gatherings. The event was packed with wealthy politicians, and other high-profile businessmen along with their kids. Suddenly Dad stepped on the stage to give his speech. “I have been in business for many years, and most people ask Donald how you manage your business empire all on your own” Dad took a deep breath before replying. “Today I want you all to meet the man who is responsible for a huge part of our success, Rafael Romano” Moment those words left my father's mouth I felt my whole body tense. The doors of the hall opened and in stepped Rafael, my father’s best friend and business partner. He looked so handsome in that black suit. Press immediately gathered around him taking pictures and asking questions. I felt a hand tap my shoulder snapping me out of my daze. “You know eyeing a man twice your age is illegal Alexa” my brother teased smirking. “Oh please I’m not into older guys” I lied through my teeth. “You better not be, dad would kill both of you. Plus he’s already talking about you dating William’s son”. “That rude asshole? Over my dead sexy body,” I muttered, glaring in his direction where he was busy flirting with the whole female population at the event. So much for boyfriend material. Rafael's eyes scanned the crowd before finally landing on me. He walked over to me, and each calculated step he took sent my heart racing. “Alexa?” Oh my days, that voice- deep and smooth with that Italian accent that had my panties soaked. “Wow oh my god, it's been so long like nine years” I laughed awkwardly regaining my composure. “Yeah anytime I visited whenever I could you were at boarding school or summer camp” he replied laughing. “So how is your wife I heard from my dad that you were engaged so you must be married by now?” “No we broke up, she cheated actually” Rafael sighed. My heart was doing backflips at this point. “Oh my bad, so you're single now?” I smirked, Rafael laughed “Yeah I am. I should probably go check in on some things with your father, I'll see you later yeah?” he winked at me before heading towards my dad leaving my heart hammering like crazy in my chest. The rest of the event went by in a daze and I decided to go home early. I crashed on the bed the stress of the whole day melting away. I changed into a silk robe and called my best friend- Aria. “So what you're telling me is you have a thing for your father's best friend” Aria giggled. “Well I mean yeah, f**k I need him out of my system” I groaned. “I need him so bad it hurts, he would never sleep with me “ I added “What makes you think so?” Aria c****d an eyebrow. “I'm not his type I bet he loves tall slender women who own businesses and look like models” I said frowning. “You're basically describing his ex” Aria laughed “Of course I'm describing his ex” I whined. “Look she's perfect. Olive tan skin, model slim figure, she's tall with the prettiest green eyes I've ever seen” I frowned. “And then there is me, short, busty, spoilt business man daughter who happens to be his best friend's daughter” I added. “Hey now! I don't call you ‘never fail Alexa ‘ for nothing. Remember in high school when you wanted to date that snobby cheerleader's boyfriend to prove you are better than her so you guys made a bet and you got him in your bed by Friday” Aria said smirking. “Why don't you channel that same energy to get Mr Italian in bed” she added wiggling her brows. “Hmm you have a point I mean I'm hot who wouldn't want me” . “I just need a way to get close to Rafael without my dad suspecting anything”. I added. “Why don't you just ask to be his assistant or something, you know since Mr Italian is staying in the city before he travels again why don't you just tell your dad you want to be his assistant to build your business experience before you join the family business “ Aria replied. “I love you so much that's brilliant, you're the best Ari I have to go now talk to you later” I squealed blowing her kisses before hanging up. I took a nap and woke up some hours later, Dad was already home at this point. I knocked on his study before coming in to see my brother was already there. “Thank god you’re here, Dad Alexa is perfect for being Rafael’s assistant” My brother Kevin said giving me a wink that my dad fortunately did not see. “Alexa is busy with her fashion brand, Aria, spa, Manicure basic girl things, I don’t think she has the time to “ but I cut dad off. “Of course I have plenty of time on my hands, I mean Aria is out of the country and mom is busy with charity organizations so I don’t really have anyone to go on shopping sprees with or have a girl’s day out” I pouted. “But since Rafael is here I would love to be his assistant, you know learning about the family business, accompanying him for client meetings, and catching up with my favorite uncle” The word “uncle” tasted so bitter on my mouth, I like daddy instead. Dad sighed before dismissing both of us. “Give Rafael a call to let him know I changed the position of his assistant to you and not Kevin” says before I leave his office. “Tell me thank you” Kevin smirked. “Why did you do that?” I asked crossing my arms over my chest. “It doesn't take a wizard to figure out you have a thing for Rafael” Kevin snorts rolling his eyes. He adds “ I have better things to do than being an assistant, this way I'm free to do whatever I want and you can spend time and seduce ‘Mr Italian’ “ I blush hard, “How-?” “You should really try locking your door before you call Aria talking about how you want to f**k your dad’s best friend” he chuckled.
