Blurb

Before her, Sean had kept his distance from all women. Later, She was the only one by his side. He was so jealous that he could barely stand anyone else laying eyes on her.

When he loved her, he cherished her like the very heart in his chest. But when they fell apart, the rupture was just as brutal—no courtesy left.

Then, at a gathering one evening, someone idly flipped through the channels and landed on a film festival awards ceremony. On the screen, the newly crowned Best Actress shone with breathtaking brilliance—stunning, radiant, utterly unforgettable.

No one noticed the way Sean's fingers pressed white-knuckled against his wine glass.

He muttered under his breath, barely audible:

"That girl… she has a heart of stone."

When they met again, Sean showered Quinn with a devotion so deep it seemed to seep into her very bones. At last, on the brink of life and death, she spoke the truth that had been buried in her heart all along:

"You loved me for eleven years. But I loved you for the whole of my short life. So tell me—who really loved more?"

Chapter 1 Caught in the Act
The air conditioner in the living room hummed loudly, blowing out waves of cold air. From the bedroom came the unmistakable sounds of a man and a woman tangled together, their voices making her stomach turn. "Do you think your girlfriend is better, or am I?" "Of course it's you, baby." The man's voice was painfully familiar. It belonged to Ethan Hayes, the man Quinn Carter had been seeing for three months after their families set them up. She had no idea who the woman was, but at this point, it no longer mattered. Because that cheating bastard and that shameless woman were in her bedroom, doing something so disgusting it made her sick. Although Quinn and Ethan had never truly developed feelings for each other, Quinn had still held onto some hope for their relationship. Maybe, if she listened to her mother and married him, their life together would turn out better. At the very least, her mother wouldn't make things difficult for her whenever she came home. But now, that little fantasy had completely shattered. Quinn felt her vision go black, and she almost passed out. Maybe it was because she had been busy all day and hadn't eaten anything. The thought of those two people still inside her bedroom, shamelessly doing that disgusting thing, made Quinn feel nauseous. She covered her mouth and dry-heaved several times. She glanced at the time. Three minutes had passed since she walked through the door. Quinn leaned against the entrance, not even bothering to change her shoes. She was still wearing the high heels she had put on for her shoot earlier that day, and after standing there for so long, her legs had started to feel weak. Her suitcase was right beside her feet. If she hadn't finished filming early and come home ahead of schedule, she would have never witnessed such an entertaining little show. The living room was a complete disaster. The man's and woman's clothes were scattered all over the floor. Quinn felt disgusted just looking at the mess, let alone taking another step inside. 'Forget it. I would go get something to eat first.' Just as her hand touched the doorknob, the sounds from the bedroom suddenly stopped. Quinn honestly hadn't expected Ethan to finish that quickly. She remembered that when she first walked in, they seemed to have only just started. She looked at the time again. Before she could leave, Ethan came out of the bedroom wrapped in a bedsheet, looking utterly ridiculous. His voice was filled with panic. "Quinn, when did you get back..." Hearing her own name come out of his mouth now made Quinn feel sick. She didn't care what the woman in her bedroom looked like anymore. But since this bastard had walked out and insisted on making a scene, she would make sure he understood that she was not someone to be messed with. Quinn let out a cold laugh. Before Ethan could react, she swung her arm and slapped him hard across the face. Ethan froze. It was as if he had never seen Quinn like this before. He stood there dumbfounded, covering his cheek as it quickly swelled. Quinn casually pulled out a tissue, wiped her hand, and said coldly, "Before I come back, remember to clean everything up and get out." ***** The bar was filled with all kinds of noise that night. The dance floor was packed with people who seemed tireless, swaying endlessly to the music. Quinn glanced at her phone. Her best friend had said she would arrive in another ten minutes. By then, several men had already come over to hit on her. She gave them all the same answer. "I'm bad luck for husbands. My husband just died. I'm not interested." Whether it was true or just an excuse didn't matter. Her refusal was obvious enough that most people stopped bothering her. Except for one man who clearly didn't know when to back off. Hearing her words, he leaned closer with a grin. "Sweetheart, I think you're interesting. Give me a chance." Quinn turned her head and smiled sweetly. "Bro, if your don't have a mirror, you can just look down in the toilet water to have a good look at yourself." The man froze for a moment before finally realizing what she meant. His face instantly twisted with fury. Just as he raised his hand, Quinn grabbed a wine bottle and smashed it over his head. Blood immediately started pouring down his face. Upstairs in a private room, someone casually said, "Looks like someone's causing trouble at the bar again." Sean was sitting lazily on the sofa against the wall. His long legs were stretched out casually, and he gently swirled the wine in his glass. The ice cubes knocked softly against the crystal, creating a pleasant sound. Hearing that, he turned his head and looked down indifferently. Through the flashing lights and drifting pieces of confetti, his eyes locked onto the woman standing near the bar. 'It's her?' Sean's heart skipped a beat. He immediately stood up from the sofa. 'There is no mistake. It's Quinn.' The woman he had secretly loved for so many years. The music was too loud, and he couldn't hear what they were saying. All he could see was a man and a woman arguing and struggling. The man grabbed Quinn's arm and tried to drag her outside. "Let's talk outside." "Let go of me!" Quinn's voice was sharp. The man was much stronger than her. No matter how many times she tried to pull away, she couldn't break free. Then her eyes caught sight of a wine bottle on the bar. Without hesitation, Quinn grabbed it and smashed it toward his head. The bottle made a dull sound but surprisingly didn't shatter. Quinn froze for a second. Then she lifted her leg and kicked him. She didn't even notice where she had kicked him. The man's face instantly twisted in pain. He crouched down, clutching his lower body. Pointing at her, he shouted through gritted teeth, "Go! Get her! Tie her up and bring her back!" The people who came with him immediately surrounded her. Quinn quickly stepped backward and disappeared into the crowd on the dance floor. After finally squeezing her way out from the other side of the crowd, she looked back. The men were already pushing through the crowd, heading straight toward her. Quinn looked around anxiously. Then she turned and ran toward the women's restroom. It was right in front of her. Afraid they would catch her, she glanced back— And suddenly crashed into someone. Quinn froze. She looked up and saw an unbelievably handsome face. Before she even had time to be amazed by his almost flawless features, she hurriedly looked back. Those men were getting closer. Their eyes were about to find her. The tall man was standing directly in front of the restroom entrance. Without thinking, Quinn grabbed him and shoved him inside. The two of them stumbled into a bathroom stall together. Sean didn't resist. Instead, he calmly followed her lead and squeezed into the tiny stall with her. The woman he had loved in silence for all these years was right in front of him. Even if she dragged him into the women's restroom— He accepted it without hesitation.
