The Werewolf with Type 1 Diabetes

My name is Nina my mom says its pronounced 9ah. I am a very special and very different type of Werewolf for two reasons.   ⦁ When I was 5 years of age I already have my wolf but we'll get to why later ⦁ The second is I am the only werewolf to be diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes I was diagnosed at the age of 3 years not long before my 4th birthday. Ok so on with my story I have sandy blonde hair and smoky eyes and my mom says an attitude that is very sassy like. When I was three I woke up at 3am screaming and was burning up but not running a fever and no one could calm me down not even my grandpa. Mom called off of work the next day and took me to the pack hospital and the Doctor informed her My Blood Sugar was 573 and they called another bigger pack hospital in a different territory that dealt with just children and got permission for me to fly on a helicopter there. Unfortunately mom and grandma could not ride in the helicopter due to something going around called the pandemic but they got to drive and meet me there it turns out I had Diabetic Ketoacidosis which can be fatal to both Humans and werewolf's if not treated immediately.    I spent one night in the PICU and 3 more on the regular hospital floor while mom and grandma learned all about how to poke my finger. Give me injections of Insulin, and Count my carbs so they would know how much insulin to give me.  After about a year I was finally allowed to get what is called a Dexcom and that would stop me from getting my finger poked about 5 times a day maybe more if they thought I was high or low and then there were the Insulin injections those came 5 times a day plus the one for my long acting so I took 6 a day. They finally gave me something called an Omni pod dash as my Insulin pump so no more shots but sometimes we have do stick my finger to determine if the Dexcom is matching my finger.   Now I said I got my wolf earlier than most. Well my wolfs name is Izzy for short Izetta is her full name and while I was in the hospital I would hear a soft soothing voice in my head  Nina, I am your wolf and I will try to take as much of your pain as I can little one the moon goddess sent me to you early so as to try and help with your suffering she said she has plans for us so for now just think of me as your invisible friend you don’t have to talk outloud I can hear your thoughts. So as I grew older I found that most had gotten their wolf at 16 and at 18 we find our mate but I was going to find my mate at 17 1/2 only because the moon goddess wanted us to have 6 months of getting to know them before we had to leave our family but in my case my wolf said the moon goddess was letting us find ours earlier because we had to teach him how to help us and have him watch things we did in case we ever needed his help. I am pretty self sufficient and more mature than most wolfs my age because I have to keep myself alive and know how to take care of my self. I do train with the pack and most of them look out for me I carry a phone connected to my Dexcom with alerts for highs and lows and most of the people around my age from Kindergarten I have grown up with and they know the sounds my alarms make and will help if I need it.   I am one of the fiercest wolfs in my pack you can't go through what I've been through and not be tough. My best friend Avery and the Twins Delany and Jordie are great I have a couple of good guy friends Z and Ryd my nicknames for them. Ryd once refused to leave the nurses office because he wanted to make sure I was ok that was after all the kids in my class alerted the training instructor that my sugar was low because they heard the alarm. Ok well tomorrow is my birthday and I am really nervous because in six months that is when I may find my mate. Oh I almost forgot my wolf is the color of my eyes she is smokey almost blue in color my mom and grandma thinks my eyes are stunning and my wolf is the most beautiful and her eyes seem to turn the most Light stunning blue I've been told they stop people in their tracks my wolf thinks the moon goddess made us this stunning because of my diabetes Now you may be asking why cant my wolf just cure me? Well I asked that once and the Dr. Said it was because my pancreas is not fixable that if it had completely stopped working and I was a Type 2 diabetic then my wolf could help me get it working the way it should but because I was so young and its believed the Pandemic killed my beta cells in my pancreas that my wolf was to young to help me heal and so We grew up and learned how to live with T1D Together.
