Cassie’s pov The car finally came to a stop in front of the apartment. Matteo stepped out first, then opened the door for her. Cassie got down slowly, her heels touching the ground with quiet confidence. They walked toward the house without saying a word. Inside the elevator, Matteo pressed the button for the top floor. Silence followed. “You handled that well,” he said calmly. Cassie didn’t look at him. “Yeah,” she replied softly. Matteo studied her for a moment. “They didn’t recognize you.” That made Cassie smile faintly. “Of course they didn’t,” she said. “This isn’t the face they remember.” Her fingers brushed lightly against her cheek, her expression unreadable. Matteo’s gaze didn’t leave her. “But you seemed affected by seeing them both together,” he said. Cassie’s smile faded. “I wasn’t affected by _them_,” she said coldly. “I was just shocked to see them after such a long time.” The elevator doors opened. They stepped into the penthouse. “Mommy!” A little voice screamed, rushing forward. “Hey, my baby,” Cassie said, also rushing to hug her daughter, Imani. She bent down and gathered her into her arms. “How have you been, baby? I hope you didn’t disturb Grandma?” Cassie asked, pinching her cheeks. “No, Mommy, I didn’t,” Imani said, smiling brightly at her mom. “Ahem,” Matteo coughed slightly, breaking up the mother-daughter moment. “Daddy!” Imani ran and hugged his legs. “My pretty princess,” Matteo cooed, lifting her up. “I miss you, Daddy. What did you bring for me?” she asked, pouting. “I missed you too, my princess.” Alice came out of the room, watching the mother and daughter with a sly smile. “Well, look who we have here. Welcome back, Cassie,” she said, giving her a brief hug. “Thank you ma’am Alice. She smiled at her. I hope Imani is not trouble to you she asked glancing at her daughter. Silly, she’s my granddaughter so she can never be trouble to me. Alice said pulling the little girl’s cheeks lightly making her giggle. Cassie smiled looking at them both. She feels loved. Thank you so so much ma’am Alice, I don’t know what would have happened if you’re not here with me or if you hadn’t saved me four years ago. I’m really grateful to you,” Cassie said. “It’s nothing, Cassie. As long as we stick to our plan against the Williams family, we’ll be fine. They’ve hurt too many people to go scot-free,” Alice said, her countenance shifting to something different — and dangerous. “But you still haven’t told me what they did to you,” Cassie said looking at Alice and Matteo. Alice glanced at Matteo, He understood and nodded at her before taking Imani’s hand. “Let’s go inside, Princess. We have a lot of gifts for you.” “Yesss! That’s why I love you daddy,” Imani said, clinging to his arm as they headed inside. Cassie walked straight to the window, staring at the city below. Her smiling expression turned bitter. She poured herself a glass of wine, sipping it quietly. “So what happened between you and the Williams family?” she asked again. Alice stared at her for a while before sighing calmly. She walked over to Cassie slowly and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Cassie, you’ll understand what they did to me later. But for now, let’s just focus on how we’ll bring the Williams family down.” Cassie stared at her, doubt flickering in her eyes, but she waved it off immediately. Yeah“Well, let’s get started then. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. She said twisting her hair. Silence enveloped between them. I bumped into Kaden and Selene at the airport earlier,” Cassie finally told her. “What? That’s fast? What happened? Did they recognize you?” Alice asked, worry creasing her face. “Calm down. No, they didn’t. Though Kaden said I looked familiar — maybe because of my voice. But my body’s changed a lot over the years, there’s no way he will recognize me with this my new face Cassie said, rubbing her forehead. “Oh God… Cassie you need to be very careful, you can’t get exposed now. Please, I’m begging you. Do everything in your power to make sure you don’t get caught until we accomplish our mission,” Alice said sternly. “Sure, I won’t. I’ll mask this carefully. I need this revenge more than anyone, remember?” she said. “That’s good,” Alice replied. “You and Matteo will be introduced as the new investors in Williams Holdings tomorrow, so you’ll be going with Matteo. And please, I need you to control yourself when you get there. Jordan and Emily Williams will be there too,so you need to calm down and let them gain your trust, especially Kaden” Alice continued. “I understand, Ma’am Alice. Everything will be under control,” Cassie said, turning back to the window and sipping her wine gently. _Williams Mansion_ Kaden stood by the window in his room, his mind unusually restless. He couldn’t explain it. That woman at the airport… she looked so familiar to him. He kept thinking. Maybe he have seen her before. Selene walked into the room angrily. “Kaden, what was that stunt you pulled at the airport today? You embarrassed me in front of that woman, and you think you have the right to do so?” Selene snapped angrily, facing him. Kaden didn’t turn. “I’m talking to you, Kaden,” Selene said, crossing her arms. Kaden exhaled quietly. “Can you just get out of my presence and let me have some peace?” Kaden said, still not looking at her. Selene scoffed. “That’s it. You’re always pushing me away, always pushing me aside I’m sort of a stranger. even after all my effort just to make this marriage work. I didn’t force you to marry me Kaden, I didn’t. I know we got married because of the pregnancy — but I didn’t ask for it either. _You_ forced me, Kaden. And now that we’re married, you make me feel like I begged you for it. You even treat our daughter like she’s a stranger to you. When will you learn to care about us? What’s our offense? Is it still because of her? Is it because of Cassie? I know you’re still searching for her. But let me tell you something, you won’t ever find her. She’s gone and gone forever,” she screamed, tears rolling down her eyes. Kaden turned sharply to look at her for the first time since she walked in. “What did you just say, Selene?” Kaden asked, his brows furrowed.
