“What did you just say?” Kaden asked, looking at Selene suspiciously. Selene’s eyes darkened. “I said you’re never gonna see her again, okay? Didn’t she leave you? Did she not dump you? Answer my f*****g question Kaden..If she wanted to come back, she would have returned a long time ago. It’s been almost five years, and you still haven’t forgotten her.because of your stupid love for her, you’re using it to affect my daughter and I. What kind of man are you? She shouted her voice raising loudly. A simp? Still wanting the same woman who used you, broke your heart, and ran away with another man? God, Kaden… you’re stupid. So damn stupid.” “Shut the f**k up, Selene!” Kaden roared. Before she could react, his hand shot out and wrapped around her throat. “K-Kaden… please… I can’t breathe…” Selene gasped, clawing at his wrist as his grip tightened. The door suddenly flew open. Jasmine rushed in, tears streaming down her face. She had been standing outside the room, listening. “Daddy, please leave Mummy alone!” she cried, trying to push Kaden away from Selene. The sound of his daughter’s voice snapped him back to reality. Kaden released Selene immediately. She collapsed to the floor, coughing violently, one hand clutching her neck. Tears filled her reddened eyes. Jasmine dropped beside her mother and wrapped her tiny arms around her. Both mother and daughter cried silently. Kaden staggered back as if only now realizing what he had done. “I’m sor—” “It’s okay,” Selene cut in coldly as she struggled to stand. “I don’t need your stupid apology.” She picked Jasmine into her arms and walked out of the room without looking back. Kaden sank frustratedly onto the bed and raked both hands through his hair. --- The Next Morning Williams Holdings Corporation. The large office was silent except for the low hum of the air conditioner and the distant sounds of activity outside. Kaden sat behind his desk, reviewing a file with a sharp expression. His jaw was tense, his patience already thin. But his mind was nowhere near the papers. It kept replaying last night. A knock sounded at the door. “Come in.” His thick voice says. His assistant entered carefully. “Sir, the CEO’s representative from Jorge Group is here.” Kaden closed the file. “Send them in.” The door opened wider. The soft click of heels echoed across the polished floor.A tall beautiful woman entered into the office, her aura screaming Classy. Kaden lifted his eyes— And nearly forgot how to breathe. It was the woman from the airport. The one he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about. She stepped inside like she owned the room, dressed in a fitted black suit that hugged her figure perfectly. Her gaze was calm, unreadable and powerful. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then Kaden rose slowly. “You.” Her lips curved faintly, pretending surprise. “Ohh you’re Mr Williams?” The assistant quickly broke the tension “Sir, this is Mrs. Hailey Jorge. She’ll be representing Mr. Matteo Jorge from the Jorge’s corporations for the partnership with Williams Holdings.” Hailey Jorge. The name rang in his ears. Kaden’s eyes narrowed. He walked around the desk and stopped in front of her. Up close, something about her felt disturbingly familiar. Her face,Her scent. Almost everything about this mysterious lady seems familiar. The way she looked at him as though she knew every secret he carried. He stretched out his hand. “Welcome to Williams Holdings Mrs Jorge. The name sounded weird in his mouth. Cassie stared at his hand reaching out for hers. That same hand that once held hers so tenderly. That same hand that once promised never to let go. She forced the memories away and slowly placed her hand in his. The instant their palms touched, tension cracked through the room. Kaden’s fingers tightened unconsciously around hers. Cassie’s breath nearly caught, but she kept her face cold. His touch still affected her and she hated it. He didn’t let go immediately. Instead, he locked eyes with her. “Have we met before?” Aside from the airport? Cassie gently pulled her hand free. “You asked this question yesterday Mr Williams and I clearly told you I haven’t met you before,If i had,” she said coolly, “I’m sure I would remember.” I have never seen or heard about you before. She added. The words landed like a slap. Kaden’s jaw tightened. No body had ever spoken to him like that in his entire life. Yet instead of anger he felt intrigued. He stood watching her silently. Cassie walked past him and sat in the chair opposite his desk, crossing her legs elegantly. “I assume Williams Holdings invited me here for business,” she said, opening her file. “Or do you always interrogate your business partners like this?” Kaden turned slowly, his gaze darkening. He returned to his seat, never taking his eyes off her. “It’s because you’re strange,” he said, his voice laced with annoyance” I question anything that feels suspicious.” Cassie smiled faintly. “Then perhaps you should start with yourself, Mr. Kaden.” Silence swallowed the room. Kaden leaned back, studying her like prey. Cassie met his stare without blinking. Neither of them looked away.
