chapter 1
"I don't want to ever see you again around my farm you little rascal." yelled the old grey man limping as he chased a young woman.
"sorry Mr. Bradley. I will ask for your permission next time I return." responded she rushing out.
"I will s*******r you like a Guinea pig if I ever see you again. " replied the old man closing his little farm gate heading back inside. "what's with this little girl?" said he chuckling to himself.
Wondering why the young woman was being chased by the old man? this is what happened.
She woke up early that day and decided to look for a real job. As she walked along the streets of Armsville, a notice caught her eye and she decided to read it. closed in as it stated.
workers needed to do loads of jobs at Mr. Bradley's. strong men willing to work. your compensation is discussed with Mr. Bradley.
will be waiting.
it was there as she was lost in the notice when the owner of the store window where the notice was pinned snapped her out of it.
"I told you not to ever get close to my store you brat." said the average aged lady to her.
"oh... sorry Ms. tiffany. it had passed my mind. my apologies. I will try not to forget that again." replied she walking back to her home.
A big house at the very end of the large forest where Armsville started . The Thompson's mansion. it's where she placed her little home up their attic for about a year and they had never realised that they lived with a stranger in the same house who regularly served herself with their food as well in the night.
it was about a year and half ago when the Thompsons needed helpers at the house and she was hired among the many. By then, she lived at Mr. Bradley's his godfather. who after a number of mischiefs she brought to the old man, he made a decision to throw her out of the house.
She though never left but had Bradley convinced that she really had gone until her lucky days ran out and the old man found her snoozing in his stables.
At the time, she was already working at the thompsons and had discovered the sweet spot. When Mr. Bradley took her out, she packed off and moved in with the thompsons.
The idea of her taking Mr. Bradley's job offer was already sank in her disorganized mind and she decided to go home and transform herself into the description of the notice.
Dressed up into her blue baggy pants up her waist, around her was a brown belt with a cobra buckle, brown collared shirt and a dark inner vest with a black hat and a fake moustache. white socks and the black thread boots. Gazed at herself in the window mirror, smirked and then headed out.
It was about two miles from the thompsons to Mr. Bradley which took her about an hour to walk there as she practiced her masculine voice.
When she arrived Bradley's house, a number of men where sat outside waiting to get interviewed.
They all looked strong and masculine which had her worry for a while but didn't back out.
Reach the empty seat that was placed between the three men and sat as she greeted.
"Good morning to you gentlemen?" said she picking up her male voice as the few of the men answered her.
"Good morning." responded the gentlemen who sat beside her.
"so? um.... we are . hmm hmm.. good right?" inquired she instinctively yet no one answered her back then deciding to keep silent and wait for her turn.
it was after several entries and exits when it was her turn to get in.
She clumsily got inside the room where Mr. Bradley was seated at the table with a little tea cup. his fake eye glasses that sat at the start of his nose made him look ridiculous as he spotted her.
"please come in young man." said he to her.
"thank you sir."
"what is your name son?"
"my name? um... I'm... um... my name is patrick smith sir."
"oh .. your new in town Mr. patrick. haven't had of a smith around Armsville. "
"yes sir. Arrived Armsville yesterday and I was lucky to see this notice at a*****e window which I thought would be my chance sir. I really need this job since I just started over in this new town."
"oh yes? where are you from Mr. Patrick? " inquired Bradley curiously.
"um, I'm from hemingsville sir."
"oh... hemingsville? it's a very nice town with nice people... I can see that your a good man son and since you just arrived Armsville, I will surely have you as my new worker." complimented Bradley.
"thank you so much sir. I appreciate the help."
"yes. so? can you do farm work. care for the animals?"
"sure sir, I definitely can do that."
"when can you start?" inquired Bradley.
"right away sir."
" okay, I will have my young man James show you where you start from as I continue with the interviews. welcome to Bradley's son."
"thank you sir." replied she as james walked her out of the room living Bradley smirking to himself in joy.
Out the house they came past the quarters and the lilly flower gardens to the farm.
the land was filled with maize plantations, a number of pigs and sheep... A few cows, goats and behind was a big coat yard of hens.
"you will have to feed these animals Mr. smith." informed james. "And also clean up there puttings.
"Alright." she responded.
" follow me please, I will need to show you were you will find the food and where the wastes are damped. "
"I think I can figure that out for myself James. I believe Mr. Bradley needs you right now. thank you again.
"Are you sure you can do it on your own?"
"of course james. Your sure an honourable man. Mr. Bradley is lucky to have you." said she as james took off to return to the interview room.
She though was left there smirking at herself wondering where to start. walked into the stables and reach out to a black horse with white spots on its forehead.
"oh Barney dear. I can't tell you how much I missed you but I believe we shall be seeing ourselves often from now on ." said she to the horse as she slowly caressed it's back.
it was five hours after she was shown to her post when James reappeared to see what the young man was up to.
when he arrived in, she wasn't anywhere to be seen, the animal looked to have been not fed for the longest time. No work hand been decreased but alot was added.
James walked around in order to find the young man but he could and as she was heading back, he spotted a leg leading out of the horse stables and decided to check it out.
when he reached, he found Patrick's other leg stuck into a hall and she was trying to pull it out.
"hey patrick, are you okay?" inquired james.
"No! I've been stuck inside this hall for sometime now. you can help pull me out." replied patrick.
"Alright." said james as he grabbed Patrick through his under arms and gently pulled him out.
"thank you."
"you should hurry up. the boss is nearly doing a roll walk to see what the new guys have done."
"sure... I will be on my fastest." responded he as james headed back and he grabbed a spade and a wheelbarrow to start with the work. "that was close. I really needed that rest." said she to herself.
As fast as she claimed to get in doing all his duties, she did... cleaned the cuttings as she threw them to the ends of the garden when the wastes were set then fade the animals. It really was easy for her since she had lived and done the same stuff again.
It was about three hours our when Bradley appeared the farm with James and to there gaze, they both were impressed by the great work young Patrick had done. Bradley as him to stop for the day and head into his office for payment.
She arrived talking a seat at the table as Bradley was still at the fields collecting the other new workers.
After about thirty minutes as the day was turning to dawn, Bradley arrived his office and found patrick still seated calmly at his seat.
"you did a great job young man. i think this is employee and employer permanently."
"thank you so much sir."
"And. here is your compensation for today.. ninety dollars and forty seven cents" said bradley handing Patrick who rose to pick it..
it was then after her taking the money in hand when unfortunately, the moustache fell off her lip and Bradley recognised her immediately.
