The Shopping Spree
The black Rolls-Royce glided to a stop in front of the grand entrance of the Queens Mall. Tinted windows concealed the interior, but from the outside, one could sense an air of wealth and privilege. The car door swung open, revealing a uniformed butler with a stern yet respectful demeanour.
"Ladies, if you please," he gestured towards the backseat.
Two young girls, wide-eyed with excitement, stepped out, followed by an elegant older woman, Grandma Florence. She was a picture of refined grace, her silver hair perfectly coiffed and her posture straight.
"Oliver sent you?" Florence asked the butler, her voice a soft whisper.
"Yes, ma'am. Mr. Cortez requested I ensure your safe arrival and departure."
“I will wait over here for you guys.”
The girls, twins named Laura and Luna, couldn't contain their giggles. The butler's formality is something they can never get tired of. Butler James always knows how to do his work dutifully.
"Well, then," Florence said, a mischievous glint in her eye, "let's make the most of this little outing."
While they entered the mall, the twins couldn't help but marvel at the high-end stores and the bustling crowd of shoppers. Shopping is something they were addicted to. Call them the shopping spree masters. Florence, however, seemed more interested in the window displays, her gaze lingering on a particular boutique.
"Oh, dear," she murmured, "that dress would be perfect for the charity gala next month."
Oliver, ever the attentive grandson, had anticipated his grandmother's desires. He'd arranged for a personal shopper to be waiting inside the boutique, ready to assist her with her selections.
Before arriving at the mall, everything was already and only the mistresses were left and now, they have arrived.
“Yes, yes Nanna, let’s go in.” Laura excitedly replied almost immediately entering the boutique followed by her sister Luna leaving the old woman standing there.
Laura and Luna were lost in a world of designer labels and so many luxurious accessories they couldn’t wait to shoved it in the faces of their group of spoiled rotten friends. They’d forgotten all about their grandmother, their eyes fixed on the latest fashion trends.
“Ah, this one will make that Margarita go crazy,” Luna beamed with a mischievous grin as she picked a gold plated earring.
“And of course that Susan can’t stand a chance with this baby here,” Laura too said while looking at the floral dress she had chosen from the latest designs.
“You should just say we are getting everything right then sis, hahaha,” Luna was beyond happy as she continued mumbling nonstop while they shopped.
“Hahaha!” And the twin sister’s laughter could be heard all over the boutique while they shop to their hearts content.
“Laura, Laura?” She heard her sister yelling at her.
“What now crazy girl?”
“Live, let’s go live.” And that was what Laura needed to get her influencer garment on.
Laura, ever the social media influencer, couldn't resist the opportunity to document their shopping spree. She whipped out her phone and started a live stream, her followers instantly tuning in.
"Hey, guys! We're at the Queens Mall, having an absolute blast!" she exclaimed, the camera panning around the luxurious boutique. "Look at these amazing dresses! I can't wait to try some of these on."
Her sister, Luna, joined the frame, a wide grin on her face. "It's so much fun! We've been shopping all day, and we're not even tired yet," she said, her enthusiasm infectious.
Laura turned the camera towards her sister, giving her a chance to address the viewers directly. Luna, a natural in front of the camera, waved at the screen.
"We're having a great time, so stay tuned for more update," she said. "Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe!"
Meanwhile, Grandma Florence, having observed their growing obsession, decided to explore other parts of the mall. She smiled to herself, a knowing glint in her eye. She knew that sometimes, a little independence was a good thing.
As she wandered through the store, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia. She remembered a time when she, too, had been young and carefree. She smiled at the thought, a gentle warmth spreading through her.
Suddenly, a loud commotion caught her attention. A group of teenagers were arguing, their voices rising in pitch. Florence, ever the peacemaker, approached the group.
"Young people," she began, her voice calm and authoritative. "Why don't we settle this calmly?"
“Nothing good will come out if you fight with one another. Not everything should be fought over.”
The teenagers, surprised by her intervention, quieted down. Grandma Florence, with her wisdom and grace, managed to defuse the situation. As she turned to leave, she couldn't help but chuckle.
They were fighting over silly things. Teanagers! Even she was one too.
Perhaps, she thought, a little adventure wasn't such a bad thing, even for a grandmother.
Meanwhile, Alicia, being the sales manager, was making her usual rounds through the Queens Mall. She was known for her efficiency and her keen eye for detail. But today, her routine was interrupted by an unexpected event.
As she passed the women's restroom, she heard a faint gasp. A quick glance inside revealed an elderly woman slumped against the wall, her face pale and her breathing laboured. Without hesitation, Alicia rushed to her aid.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
“Tell me, how can I help you?”
“What are you feeling?”
“Is it your chest?”
The woman's eyes fluttered open, a look of fear etched on her face. "I-I can't breathe," she gasped.
Alicia recognized the signs of a potential heart attack. She quickly guided the woman to a nearby bench, ensuring she was comfortable. Then, she calmly called for help, alerting the mall's security and medical staff.
“I have called for help, it will be over soon.” Alicia said, trying to calm the old lady down.
“Just breathe and hang in there.” She added softly, watching the woman closely.
While waiting for assistance to arrive, Alicia monitored the woman's condition. She spoke softly, trying to keep her calm. She knew that every moment counted.
Alicia hurriedly raised the woman’s head giving her a sip of water before helping the woman up to her office. And not so long while they were walking when the security guards came running giving her a helping hand.
“We will handle it from her Miss. Harris,” One of the guards said taking the woman’s hand from Alicia who made sure they were holding the old lady appropriately while they worked in her office.
