After being abandoned while pregnant by the father of her child, Amelia spends years rebuilding her life.

Everything changes when a mysterious man moves into the cottage next door.

Adrian claims to be a writer looking for peace and quiet.

In reality, he's a prince hiding from an arranged marriage and the suffocating expectations of royal life.

As Adrian grows closer to Amelia and her daughter, feelings neither of them expected begin to grow.

But when Damian returns demanding a place in his child's life and the royal family discovers Adrian's location, Amelia becomes trapped between a dangerous past and a future she never imagined. While Damian offers wealth, security, biological fatherhood and a "proper family", Adrian offers respect, genuine love, total acceptance of Lily, and of course, a future as his equal. Amelia's struggles are numerous; can she trust another man? Does Lily deserve to know her father? Can a prince really choose her over a kingdom? But even Amelia isn’t ready for the secrets that lie ahead of her.

It was a cold rainy evening. Amelia Hart stared at the glowing screen of her phone, her fingers trembling around the device. The article had only been published thirty minutes ago. Yet it had already shattered what little remained of her heart. "Business Tycoon Damian Cross Announces Engagement to Socialite Vanessa Sinclair" Below the headline was a photograph of Damian smiling as he slipped a diamond ring onto another woman's finger. A woman who wasn't carrying his child. A woman who hadn't spent the last eight months waiting for him to return her calls. A woman who hadn't cried herself to sleep every night wondering why she wasn't enough. Amelia swallowed hard as tears blurred her vision. The tiny apartment around her suddenly felt suffocating. One hand instinctively rested on her swollen stomach. The baby kicked. A sharp reminder that she wasn't alone. "Easy there, little one," she whispered, forcing a smile she didn't feel. The smile disappeared when her phone rang. It was Damian. For a brief, pathetic second, hope fluttered inside her chest. Maybe he was calling to explain. Maybe the article wasn't true. Maybe, just maybe… She answered immediately. "Damian?" His voice came through the speaker, cold and impatient. "You saw the announcement right?” The hope died instantly. Amelia closed her eyes. "So it's true?" He sighed. "Look, Amelia. We both knew this relationship wasn't going anywhere. My family would never accept someone like you." Her grip tightened around the phone. "You should have thought about that before choosing to be in a relationship with me then, why now?" "Listen, we've been together for three years now and things change. You should know this." The words struck harder than any slap. "And the baby?" she whispered. Silence. Damien, "what of the baby"? She screamed with shaky breath. Then another sigh. "I'll send money." "Money? Money? Not love. Not support. Not responsibility. Just money." A painful lump formed in her throat. "Our child deserves a father." "No," Damian replied. "The child deserves stability. Vanessa and I are building a future. I won't let unnecessary complications ruin that." Unnecessary complications. That was what he called their child. Amelia felt something inside her c***k. Reality struck like a brick. "Please don’t call me again." Before he could answer, she ended the call. The room was silent except for her uneven breathing. Then the tears came. And a scream that sounded like her heart was about to explode. She cried for the future she had imagined. For the family she would never have. For the man she had wasted three years loving. But most of all, she cried for the tiny life growing inside her. Eventually, she wiped her face and slowly stood. She placed her hands on her stomach and gave it gentle rubs. She burst into tears again. This time, she smiled through her tears. "You still have me," she whispered. "And I've still got you." The road ahead looked terrifying. Medical bills. Rent. Childbirth. Single motherhood. Everything rested on her shoulders now. But for the first time that day, Amelia realized something important. Damian leaving wasn't the end of her story. It was the beginning. The baby kicked again. She tapped gently on her stomach and stared out the rain-speckled window. "I don't know how we're going to do this," she murmured. "But we will." Outside, thunder rolled across the dark sky. Inside, a mother made a promise to her unborn child. No matter how difficult life became... She would never abandon her baby the way Damian had abandoned them both.
