right of passage
On a hunting trip the king addressed his men. "Today my son becomes a man does he slaughters the monster that has been terrorizing our village." The young prince stood in his tent listening to his father. 'I can't do this.' he thought to himself. He packed up his gear and called his horse while everyone was asleep. With is gear on his horse, a sword on his side, when his bow and arrows on his back, he got on his horse and took off to the mountain valley. At the first light of dawn in a valley he saw a bear that had to be at least the height of three men. The bear saw him and charged getting close enough to knock him off his horse. Getting up as fast as he could he sprinted away from the bear. It chased him. The prince drew his bow, turned towards the bear and let the arrow fly. The arrow struck the bear in the shoulder slowing him down. The prince climbed on boulders near him and fired another arrow. This one managed to hit his eye. Holding his eye the bear's growl turned to a deep chuckle. The prince in shock just looked at him as he said "an eye for an eye." snarling through his teeth he swings his paw cutting the prince's face across his eye. The prince fell. He forces himself to stand blood running down his face. He draws his sword ready to fight. The bear chuckles again and chargers at him.
