Jaxon’s Pov
“Vice prefect” A deep voice called me as I walked pass the teacher's room. I stopped and turned. It was Mr Orion, the instructor for weapon summoning.
“Good Morning sir.” I greeted as I stopped in front of him. I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. I realized it was almost time for his class with the 12th Grade.
“I need you to get them to the training ground.” Mr Orion said as he gets click his computer. “yes sir.” I answered I was about to leave but stopped in my tracks. I turned back slowly as wanting to ask him something. he seemed to notice and stood up with his phone in hand.
“got a question?” he asked. “Should I tell the Archprefect?” I finally asked. His expression looked uncomfortable as soon as I asked that question. I was about to object when he nods in agreement as he walked out of the teacher's office.
I get his attitude. Everyone fears the Archprefect, even the the teachers. Despite all, If it wasn't for the Archprefect the Academy would be running badly.
I sighed as I pulled out my phone and dialed his number. He picked the call as soon as it went through but there was silence on the other end of the phone. Well, He sure got an attitude.
“Cael, Mr Orion wants us in the summoner's Arena.” I said. The other line remained quiet only the sound of breathing was heard.
“It's a class for the freshers in senior year. 12th Grade, B class.” I added, hoping he would respond.
“Coming.” A deep voice finally answered before hanging up. I walked down the corridor heading to Class B.
I soon reached the class and hell it was loud with noise even when the doors were closed. I walked towards the door and slid it open.
The class was rowdy as hell. I rolled my eyes as I stepped in the class. The class became quiet immediately. I cleared my thoart as I looked at them seated.
“Who’s the class president?” I asked in a cold voice. “It's me sir.” A voice answered quietly. I looked in the direction of the voice and saw the class president already on his feet, his face looking at his feet. He's tall, Athletic but not ripped.
“Can't you control your class or what? do you think this place is meant for kindergartens?” I asked, trying to control myself. “I'm sorry vice prefect.” He quickly apologized.
“This academy doesn't take weak brats like you. If you can't do your job well just say it.” I sighed as I looked round, everyone darting their eyes around not wanting to look at me expect one who looked like he was bored.
“First class weapon summoning. Summoner's Arena Now.” I ordered as I watch them quickly arranging their stuff and darting out of the class room quickly.
I watched as the last person left the classroom. I sighed as I took a step back and closed my eyes. Soon the wooden floor beneath me started to turn to a puddle of water.
Soon the floor turned to water and I slowly sinked into it. As I reached the other side which was the summoner's Arena. I landed smoothly as I watched the students pour in like tide coming in.
“Weldone, Vice prefect. Got them here just in time, even the Archprefect.” Mr Orion whispered as his eyes shifted towards the farthest end of the corner which was dark.
“Okay students get in line.” He ordered as he stepped forward to address the students. “Today is your first day as seniors so today would be an introductory class, got that.” He said as the students responded uniformly.
I walked towards the Archprefect as Mr Orion continued his speech. “Thought you would take your time.” I said making the Archprefect scoff.
“School principles. Always make an appearance even if you don't want to.” He answered in a silk voice.
“So Cael, what do you think of these freshers?” I asked as his gaze shifted over to them. “They're useless. They can't even summon a proper weapon.” Cael answered as he continued to watch them.
“it's there first day so don't blame them.” I said but Cael wasn't listening to me. He suddenly points a hand to a brown haired student who looked confused, like he didn't know what to do. “His skill just got worse.”Cael said. I noticed him, he was the same student I met at the admin building. He had gotten in some trouble.
Cael knows every students in this academy even if they're new. “I forgot to ask something. isn't he…..”
“The Boy who had gotten into an accident at the science building.” Cael cuts me off. Wouldn't blame him, The two of us has been together for a long time so basically we understand each other.
“Yep.” I answered. “He's the one. Some accidents don't kill they just make the victim worse just like him.” Cael said.
I looked at him. “But he was average when he was a junior.” I said. but Cael tilted his head as he kept staring at the boy.
The student seemed to notice Cael’s gaze and looked in our direction. He squited his eyes as he looked at me then at Cael who kept staring back.
The student looked at Cael as if trying to see him clearly but it was no use as this corner doesn't have lights. only I was visible while Cael blended perfectly well with the darkness.
“Hey, pay attention.” Mr Orion voice rang in the Arena as he yelled at the student. He quickly apologized as he got back at what he was doing.
Cael stood up and walked towards the Front. All students stopped what they were doing as they looked at him. Surely they knew who he was and they better be on their best behavior.
“I don't know the council was thinking when they allowed strays like you to become seniors.” Cael said. Mr Orion was about to say something but shut his mouth.
I knew he wanted to defend them but interrupting Cael won't be the best way either. “You can't even summon a proper weapon in practice. how would you defend yourself.” Cael continued as he looked at a student's hand and saw a kitchen knife making him smirk. He was about to continue when a student interrupts him.
“Excuse me. You can't insult us just because you're a final year senior.” It was the student from the admin block. everyone looked at him in shock but he didn't waver.
A student shifted close to him and whispered something to him but she just rolled her eyes. she stepped forward as if he was ready to oppose Cael for whatever he said.
“Nobody is an expert on the first day they try something so don't look down on us.” the student said, drawing gasps from the others. Did he want to die.
“Coming from someone who got worse in every aspect of magic.” Cael answered, his voice low and dangerous. “Can't blame me. I'm human not a born spiritual being….”
“And that's why you get worse and become useless. Just end it now and spare your self a disgraceful death.” Cael interrupted.
His mood was getting bad and the students seemed to notice it because the temperature of the Arena was dropping seriously.
Mr Orion looked at me as if telling me to do something. The student was about to say something but I cut her off. Did be want to die or didn't be see that continuing would lead him lifeless in seconds.
“Don't you have manners? the Archprefect is correcting your mistake and you're opposing him. do you think you can win a fight with a stick.” I said making some of them look at the useless weapon in their hands.
“If you don't want to learn or take correction then don't die a disgraceful death just as the Archprefect said.” I added making the student grit his teeth as if controlling himself.
Mr Orion cleared his thoart. “Thanks for your advice Archprefect I would…..” He wasn't able to finish his statement when Cael walked towards the student and leaned in close.
“I thought the accident made you worse but now that I look closely. You're pathetic.” Cael said as he left angrily.
The student looked like he was about to follow cael and fight back but I stepped Infront of him. “Look just because you're human doesn't give you the right to misbehave. One mistake and you're out of the academy, got that.” I warned.
I spoke a few greetings to Mr Orion and left without looking back. Making my way back to class. Cael surely has improved but people should be careful. I thought as I continued my walk.
