CHAPTER1
Loud music playing in the background. Prisca is sipping a glass of gin and nodding to the beat of the music. Putting on a short Red gown and seated alone in a club around 2 am. She was already tipsy and couldn't stop demanding more glasses of gin. She looked so worried with her hair so unkempt like she got into a fight with someone. She seems to be going through some trauma and trying to get some things off her head. One minute she is talking to herself and the other she is feeling sober, the next she is laughing and yelling. A man walked up to her from behind and tapped her. “Hello young Lady,” said the man. Prisca looked up at him and continued her drink without uttering a word. “I noticed you have been all here alone drinking and talking to yourself. Did you have a fight with someone?” the man asked as he sat beside her looking at the bruises on her face. “No, that is my brother's legacy. He always leaves them on my face”, Prisca answered with a little smile on her face. Prisca, a 19-year-old smart and pretty girl, had a misunderstanding with her brother Zack which led to the brother beating her up and leaving some bruises on her face. “I am Barry”, the man said as he stretched out his hands. She grabbed his hands reluctantly and introduced herself as Prisca as she turned in his direction to take a look at him. Barry is a black, huge and handsome man in his late 30s. Very rich and among the big boys in the city every girl would like to mingle with. He is so full of himself and always believes to be in control of everything. He asked the bartender to stop serving Prisca drinks and cleared all her bills. Prisca, with her eyes blurred, waved at the bartender to bring an extra glass for her and Barry also. They already know her very well at the Bar as a regular customer, and they understand she knows when to stop demanding more. Barry felt embarrassed, yelling at the bartender about why he had to serve an extra drink to a young girl that was almost drunk even when he had ordered him to stop. The bartender apologized politely while still serving the drinks to them. Now, the club is almost empty and only a few people could be seen drinking or dancing. Barry, already furious but still doesn't want to miss this pretty young girl as he always does with others, calmed himself while trying to show a fake smile. He joined Prisca in drinking and they also danced and had some fun. It was almost 5 am and Barry offered to drive her home. Prisca declined his offer and said, “My house is down the street, I can walk”. She stood up, waved at him, and took the exit door. Barry had already collected her phone number for a business proposal he would like to link her up with, and they agreed to meet at the same place in two days' time. Barry was so astonished how a girl of her age could drink that much and still be able to walk herself home majestically. He ordered his men to follow her and make sure she got home safely. Prisca entered her house while Barry and his men parked outside watching. They heard some noise and arguments coming out of her apartment. Barry came down and got closer but all he kept hearing was “ you prostitute, you have vowed not to stay off the street at your age, I can't imagine I have a call-girl as a sister”. Barry smiled and thought to himself that she would be an asset to his business. Prisca lost all the vibes and good feelings she had gathered at the club. She has this habit of clubbing and drinking which she learned from her father. Her father had a bar when she was young and, as her dad's favorite, she is always with her dad at the bar whenever she is back from school. She loved her dad so much that she had to drop out of school to take care of her dad as their mum was late. Her dad is the reason why she still finds it worth coming home. She has been trying so hard to get rid of this habit of drinking and clubbing, but whenever she seems to be getting it right, her brother always pushes her back through his beatings and foul words he uses on her. The only way she can heal her brother is by going back to her old life. In two days' time, Barry came to the club looking dapper in his expensive Versace jacket. The time he did not show up with his boys. He drove in his latest Lamborghini. He wanted to show Prisca how wealthy he is. Barry sat at one corner of the club waiting for Prisca to arrive. He waited for about an hour before he saw Prisca walk in from the entrance door. She looked so gorgeous that no man could resist. Barry was so overwhelmed and was so eager to receive her with a warm embrace. Prisca had already seen Barry and was walking up to him before a young man pulled her back and took her hurriedly to another section of the club.
