*Saphira*
I was surprised that this Alphas wolf was not only as large as it was but that it was also able to somewhat speak my tongue. However as I studied him closer I became surprised, the name should have been a giveaway but this was Fenrir. The pup I watched my mother create and also the same pup who’s original name was Fenrir, I hadn’t seen the pup in some time due to the trickster god stealing him away from my mother. I suppose this is how my mother got back at the insufferable god, she stole his soul back and used him as the base for a new race.
I might as well see if he remembers anything from his puppy years. “Fenrir don’t you remember me?” I c****d my head at him and proceeded “It’s me Saphira, mother introduced us before that bastard god took you” I saw him stiffen, after a few minutes he looked up at me with wide eyes that had tears in them. “You’ve grown into such a big wolf Fenrir, I’m sure mother is so proud of you” I smiled at him as best as I could and seconds later I felt a fuzzy ball fling himself at me I felt wetness on my chest as Fenrir cried and whimpered, I put a paw around him trying to give him a hug.
Once Fenrir calmed down he looked at me somewhat embarrassed, I could tell that his pride had been somewhat wounded by his reaction but in all honesty I had missed this goofy pup myself. Now that I think about it there were many friends that I miss and sadly most of them are probably here with Yggdrasil. I’m scared to ask Fenrir about what had to happen for mother to take his soul from his body but I feel as though I must know. There’s a lot of things I must know.
*Fennris/Fenrir*
I looked at my paws ashamed of how childish I had acted around her but I had honestly missed Saphira so much. It felt like I had been reunited with a sister after eons of being apart. But with those good memories it also brought up bad ones from when I was a pup. Strangely enough I could also tell that my mind had locked many of these memories away. Mother probably has something to do with that because of how crowded it can be in me and my host’s brains sometimes. We had a long life when we were alive and we’ve had an even longer life here with Yggdrasil. I could feel that Lucian had lots of question but he’d just have to sit tight and listen to what I had to say. All of these memories started flooding back to me and I needed a few moments to sort through them before I began telling Saphira what happened to my whilst in the trickster gods care.
“He was horrible to me, he kept in a pitch black room for centuries. He only fed me when there was full moon, the only reason I didn’t starve was because of mother’s blood running through my veins. She made me strong and gave me hope that I could make it through anything.” Occasionally he would toss in beings that had wronged him in some way, those were the only other occasions that I could eat.”
I looked up at Saphira to find an unreadable expression on her face. “Eventually he began beating me if he became angry, he used me as his personal punching bag. At one point he even snapped my neck but because of my fast healing abilities it didn’t kill me, those months were the worst of it. I couldn’t move and I could barely eat.” I could feel Lucians sadness through our bond, he wasn’t happy about the way I had been treated. “I faintly remember hearing mother’s voice one day as the door burst open, I honestly thought I had finally lost it. I heard her frantic cries felt her sobbing over me, then I felt her become angry. Mother was a peaceful goddess she ruled over the moon and that made her mellow. But she was also out for blood, I remember feeling cold as I slipped from my body and felt my spirit curl around mother’s form.
I remember seeing my body lay there lifeless and I felt sick at the sight I was skin and bones. My once shiny black fur had no life to it my eyes were dull and I looked like nothing more than a skeleton. I hadn’t grown much or properly at that”. I looked over to see tears in Saphira’s eyes as she nodded at me to continue. “She gave me time to enjoy my home realm before she came to me with a request. She wanted to see if I was willing to bind my soul with a humans in order to make a new race, I’d get a new name along with a new chance at life. I was hesitant at first until she told me our grandfathers plans for me, he wanted me to guard the gates of the damned realm and kill any souls that tried to escape.”
I shook myself of my bad memories and continued my story. “Mother let me meet the soul that I would bind with and I could tell that he was a mighty and selfless man. I bound with him after mother promised to make us a mate that we could spend an eternity with.”

“I was out hunting for food to feed the members of my den. I had gone pretty far because I was having trouble finding smaller game that I could take down by myself. At some point I felt a calling deep within me and I lost all control of my body. I felt myself start sprinting as fast as I could through the forest and towards Yggdrasil. The closer I got the more sane I became, while I was sprinting no one could reach me through our link nor could I think straight.” Cornelius stopped and looked up at me before taking a breath and continuing.
“I eventually snapped out of it and realized that the being that was calling out to me would more than likely be gone. So I sprinted for a little while longer until I could find an ancient tree and I climbed all the way up it. Once I got to the top I noticed that the moon was full and it was much much bigger than it typically was, signifying that Selene had to have been here. I saw a blinding white light and the words -Wake up my little one, you have much to do- were cast all throughout the realm.”
Cornelius looked up at me to gauge my reaction of what he was saying, I made sure to keep my face neutral in hope that he would continue his story. “Shortly after those words were said, another force that was slightly different blasted through the air. Later that night the moon turned back to normal and this realm has had an excited energy to it ever since.” I sat in silence as I processed his words, me whatever had been awakened practically at the same time had to be connected somehow. Iris and her mate went back into their den, probably to give me some space.
If I’m being honest with myself I’m nervous, for the first time in my existence I am nervous and don’t know what to expect. But behind that nervousness and uncertainty lies hope, if what Iris said is true, and this really is a mating pull, maybe I won’t be alone. The thought of there being another one of my kind was equally thrilling as it was terrifying. Typically the moon goddess Selene was in charge of making dragons and their souls, however I was created by the witch goddess Hecate.
Growing up she had never told me why I was created my her and not Selene but I always wrote it off as Hecate wanting experience in making something that could live. I looked in the direction of Yggdrasil and wished with all my being that whoever was out there would except me for what I am.
