Chapter 3- Getting Agitated and Meeting Friends

1464 Words
*Dragon under Yggdrasil* Walking to what he called a kitchen I began to feel antsy, I’ve been a human to long I’ll need to shift soon. On top of that the pull that I have been feeling is getting stronger. When we walked through the double doors of the kitchen all eyes were focused on me. Everything went silent and my stomach growled again at the smell of meat wafting to my nose. Zephyr cleared his throat and led me to what he called a walk in freezer. My eyes immediately focused in on the countless slabs of meet that were hung on hooks. I started to feel my mouth water as I let the blanket slip off of my shoulders and approached a large deer carcass. I tore into the meat as fast as my mouth and limbs would let me, I moved on from hook to hook getting whatever my hands could a hold of. At some point during my feeding frenzy my instincts forced me to move away from the food and find room to shift. This pull was putting my on edge and being my human didn’t help one bit. *Zephyr* I watched the she dragon tear through half of our stockpile as she ate faster than any starving wolf. By the time she was done she was covered in blood and quickly ran out of the kitchen and through the back door that led out to the pack houses back yard. I mind linked Alpha Lucian and let him know something was wrong. Myself and my two fellow trackers, Kyle and Reed followed her out only to see the most magnificent sight of our afterlives. Yes we had seen her dragon form when we found her on the out skirts of our territory but this vision was completely different. Eating had definitely done her some good. As she shifted her older matte grey scales fell away to expose glittering white scales that reflected all the colors around her, she had many pitch black horns and spines that ran down the length of her back and tail. I faintly felt my Alpha run up behind me and heard his breath catch in his throat. As she finished her shift she sat there patiently waiting for one of us to talk, her reptilian eyes following everyone’s movements. My Alpha snapped out of whatever trance he was in and sent us back into the pack house to prepare for our next patrol. *Lucian* I had been curious about what my head tracker had meant when he said that someone important needed to speak with me. In the back of my head I wondered if it had anything to do with the disturbance I felt at Yggdrasil but I quickly shook it off. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw, as she waltzed into my office I immediately knew who she was. Her name is Saphira and she was the legendary dragon that’s been asleep under Yggdrasil since the creation of the first races. I saw her becoming more impatient with me so I quickly found my composure, to my surprise she wanted to know about all she had missed, eons and eons of history would need to be explained to her. Suddenly she shifted in her seat and her stomach let out an absurdly loud growl, I stifled the laughter that threatened to break loose and told my head tracker to get her some food while I tried to figure out where in the hell my Beta, Gamma, and Delta were. When Zephyr linked to me that something was wrong I honestly thought she had gotten impatient and ate one of my kitchen staff. Preparing for the worse I ran out of my office and jumped down the two flights of stairs before making a beeline for the door that had been blown off its hinges. That’s gonna need to get repaired. Rolling my eyes I ran out the door and felt my breath catch in my throat, I had met a few dragon queens in my time of life but none compared to the one that was currently shaking herself out in my backyard. As I shook my head to clear my thoughts I sent my head tracker along with everyone else that was outside back into the pack house. I felt my Lycan Fennris stir for the first time that day, waking up from his nap I faintly heard him ask what all the ruckus was about. I was in the presence of a very dangerous and possibly moody queen that wanted answers and she wanted them now.“I suppose the first thing I should ask you is what’s the last thing you remember.I’ll try my best to explain thing but really your mother and my race’s goddess would have the most answers.” She nodded her large head in my direction and began shifting her body around so that her head rested on her front paws. She truly was massive, I was not a small man I stood at a height of 6”3 and her head was still taller than me by almost 4 feet. For goddesses sake I’ll get a crook in my neck if I have to crane my neck up at her for the next few hours. “I hope you’ll be ok with me shifting into my true form so that I can be comfortable for this conversation. I also have a feeling that my Lycan might know more of your history than I do.” She grumbled and spoke in a tongue that made my Lycans hackles raise in my mind. She was speaking ancient draconic and it was a very raw and harsh language. I took her words as a yes and shifted into my wolf Fennris, I could at least meet her eye to eye now for our talk. I let Fennris take control so that he could tell her about any ancient history she would need to know. “What is your given name ancient one?” I was slightly surprised that he was able to roughly speak some of her native tongue. Apparently she was too because her eyes widened slightly. She spoke a few raspy syllables and I felt Fennris stiffen. Whatever she had said came as a surprise to him. *Dragon from the cave* As I followed Iris back to her den I became more and more restless as the pull I was feeling was trying to keep my body from going farther away from it. I tried to shake off the feeling by focusing on the sounds my paws made as I broke small sticks and crushed the grass of the forest floor. I felt Iris’s eyes on me again as she stopped and looked up at me concerned “Are you ok?” I snapped my head in her direction and gave her a questioning look. “You look out of it, you also started walking in a different direction than me.” That damn pull is driving me nuts. “It’s this pull I’m feeling, the more I try to ignore it the stronger it gets. “If I didn’t know any better that sounds like a mating pull.” I snickered bitterly at her words “I don’t have a mate, as far as I know there isn’t another one of my kind much less a female.” She shook her head and we continued to walk in a heavy silence. Eventually we reached her den and she called out to the others in what I assumed to be her native tongue. I saw three heads pop out excitedly until they saw me, then they screamed and dove back into the den. I chuckled and sat down waiting for Iris to drag her mate out of his hiding spot. Once she did it was kind of funny to see them bicker back and forth in their native tongue, I assume that Iris won as she got a victorious gleam in her eye. Her mate eyed me cautiously, he was bigger than her and his tails were puffed up defensively behind him. They truly did look made for each other, he was a light grey while she was jet black, both of them had huge blue eyes. I focused my attention to the male as he spoke up “My name is Cornelius, and this is me and my mates den.” I could tell that both of them had been powerful Gumiho in their prime, though, the male knew how to mind his manners better than his mate. “My name is Drexyl and I came to see what you know about the disturbance that happened at Yggdrasil.”
