Chapter 2-Traveling and Meeting the Alpha

1600 Words
*Dragon under Yggdrasil* After about an hour we reached what I assumed to be the center of the packs territory, there was a massive mansion in the center that was surrounded by smaller houses. I became lost in my thoughts as I felt a strange pull coming from the East, the same direction that I felt a powerful force earlier in the day. Zephyr looked up at me and barked to get my attention, pulling from my thoughts “My pack members tend to be a little skittish of your kind, do you mind shifting so you don’t cause any alarm, you also wouldn’t be able to fit in the pack house in your current state” he sent a wolffish grin my way as he shifted into a human himself. Huffing a little at the inconvenience I wondered to myself when the last time I took on a human form was. Dragons don’t typically go walking around as humans because our natural forms are a lot to contain, after awhile we need to revert back or else it can cause us to get sick or go mad. I also made a mental to note to try and find time to investigate this pull I was feeling. Shaking my head I began to shift into a human, I felt myself get smaller and my joints pop into place. As a human I stood at a height of 6”5 and had long white straight white hair down to my waist that had a sheen to it similar to a rainbows. My pupils had reptilian slits and my irises much like my hair were white with all sorts of colors mixed in. I was much curvier than I remembered but alas I haven’t taken a humans form since I was a child. Zephyr and the other two pups were looking at me as if I had grown two heads. “Ahem” Zephyr snapped his head towards me “S-Sorry let me go grab a blanket or something for you” and with that they all dashed away leaving me to my own thoughts. My skin was practically white and I looked thin, I definitely needed to eat soon. With that thought my stomach growled loudly as Zephyr returned with a blanket to cover myself with. “Thank you pup, now lead the way to your Alpha please, I’d like to eat soon.” As we made our way further into the town I kept getting more and more stares, eventually a growl erupted from me loud enough to shake the ground underneath me. Zephyr jumped and looked at me questioningly “What was that for?”, I shook my head and eyed the crowd that had formed “Tell these pups that if I get one more threatening look I’ll show them what a true dragon can do”. He looked at me a little quizzically but then howled and soon, everyone began to disperse. Finally we made it to the pack house as he called it and immediately went up two flights of stairs to his Alphas office. Zephyr’s eyes clouded over for a few seconds then he opened the door. I walked in and made myself comfy in one of the leather chairs that faced a mahogany desk. I will say the Alpha was much more than I expected he seemed older but was still fit and had a certain fire in his eyes that suggested he was an ancient force to be reckoned with. He met my eyes and took a sharp inhale of his breath “What has the legendary she-dragon who sleeps under Yggdrasil been awakened for?” I blinked in surprise at him, I had assumed that my identity would have been long forgotten in this realm but it seems I was mistaken. “I’m not sure what I’ve been awakened for. From what I felt when I woke up it seemed as thought the realms were at peace with one another. I simply came here in hopes of being caught up in the current state of the realms.” He eyed me with surprise and what seemed to be hope “You came to the right pack, my name is Lucian and I am the first Lycan to have walked in the realm of the living, I died many moons ago and decided to wait here for more of my kind. I hoped to make the perfect pack that wolves could come to rest at.” I tilted my head at him in confusion “Your tracker said his mother was a dragon, if he is also a wolf how is that possible?” Lucian chuckled to himself while shaking his head “Oh ancient one you have much to catch up on. But first let’s get you cleaned up and fed.” As soon as he said that my stomach growled once again and we both got up to find me some food. *Dragon from the cave* I woke up to the feeling of being watched, I kept my eyes closed and pretended to still be asleep as I felt a presence start to creep up on me. When I felt them get close enough my eyes flew open and I quickly pinpointed my target. Without missing a beat I sprang into action and tackled whatever was watching me, we rolled a few times until I planted my legs and stood over them with my claws dangerously close to their necks. I study the being that had been foolish enough to sneak up on my only to find that it was an above averaged sized Gumiho or better known as a nine tailed fox. It whimpered and closed its eyes as I snarled in its face rage evident in my entire demeanor. Once I had calmed down I took my claws away from its neck and unpinned them from the ground. They were quick to jump and scramble away from me before looking at me as if I’d lost my mind. “Don’t give me that look ass hole, your the one that thought it’d be a good idea to sneak up on me.” I watched as they shook themselves out trying to fix ruffled fur as their tails swished around behind them. “Well excuse me for trying to figure what the commotion was that occurred yesterday. It’s not like anyone’s ever been able to get near this river with out magically getting turned around in the blink of an eye.” I narrowed my eyes and snorted at them, I then straightened myself up and began stomping my way towards their direction. The cheeky fox had the audacity to meet my gaze and puff its chest out defiantly. I growled loudly as I let my Draco aura poor out of me, this Gumiho obviously didn’t have a shred of survival instinct in them as I began stalking towards them. Their eyes widened to size of saucers as their body flattened itself to the ground. Perhaps they do have instincts after all, with how much of presence was pouring out of my body they shouldn’t be able to move or talk. I am a Draco by birth right and I will not tolerate blatant disrespect from anyone. Getting in control of my anger once again I reeled in my aura and gave the Gumiho time to adjust themself. Narrowing my eyes at them I asked “Who are you and what is it you want?” Keeping his eyes glued to the ground they let out a shaky reply “My name is Iris and I live nearby with my mate and a few other Gumiho that have passed.” I flicked my tongue out in annoyance “What in the sweet hell made you think it would be a good idea creep up on me” she looked up at me and I felt bad as I saw fresh tears in her eyes “I was born a powerful Gumiho I got my tails at an early age, me and my mate dealt a threatening presence coming from this direction and I decided to come and investigate. When I found you I was surprised and scared, I’d never seen a dragon as large as you and I wanted to get a closer look.” I felt guilty, she was probably just trying to look out for the rest of her friends and didn’t deserve to almost get her ass handed to her. “Look, I’m sorry I scared the s**t out of you but for the most part I’m harmless. I’ve been a bit testy since I was released because I keep feeling this nagging pull towards Yggdrasil.” Her face morphed into an expression that was a mix between surprise and a knowing look. “Well yesterday right before I felt your presence over here every creature on this side of the forrest felt a massive disturbance at the base of Yggdrasil’s trunk. Maybe that has something to do with the pull your feeling.” It is strange that there was a disturbance and now I’m feeling an undeniable pull. I was pulled out of my thoughts by Iris’s high pitched voice “You can come back with me to my den and my mate can tell you more about it, he was out hunting when it happened and felt it much clearer than the rest of us.” I looked over at her and nodded my head in agreement, “Lead the way.”
