Chloe
“Chloe, come out now!” Mika’s angry voice resounded in my ears.
I gulped, this won't be good.
I came out of my hiding place with my eyes facing down. I didn't know what to say if she asked about what that b***h had said.
“Yeah? What up? Are they gone?” I asked, mustering the courage to look up.
She trailed her eyes all over my body, causing me to hold onto myself tighter. Her gaze suddenly felt like a violation.
“What was that for? You are making me uncomfortable.”
“Oh, so looking at my best friend makes her uncomfortable, huh? That is new,” she said annoyingly, attempting to leave.
“Come on,” I said with my hands on her shoulder. “You know I didn't mean it that way so stop acting like this. Just tell me what Olivia said and let me explain myself.”
“How do you know she said something? Just forget it, I suddenly don't care about what she said, come on let's go.”
"Are you certain of that? Remember, no secrets.”I said, softly nudging her to press the matter so I could finally tell her what I'd been going through. I'm gradually getting tired of bearing the burden alone.
“Yes, I'm sure, however, I believe you might reconsider the "no secrets" rule because it appears you have difficulty adhering to it.
“Mika, what’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, pretending like I hadn’t heard what Olivia said. If she doesn’t want to talk about it now then I guess I can deal with that, although I won’t be able to rest knowing she has some doubts about me in her mind.
“Nothing, let’s just go.”
“Okay, if you say so. But about Tyler, do I have to apologize to him? ‘Cause I don’t see any reason why I should do that, considering that I hadn’t offended him nor anybody.”
“You are apologizing to him and that’s final. Do you know what Olivia told me while you were there? She told me to stay away from you before Tyler starts taking his revenge and the only way to prevent that from happening is to apologize to him.”
“Even if it’ll be feeding his ego?” I questioned, frowning deeply.
“Yes, now let’s go before Jason starts looking around for us,”
“Yeah, you are right.”
We exited the restroom and immediately headed to our next class, geography, which is actually not my favorite subject but I have no option but to include it in the subjects I’m offering because Mika is taking it and absolutely adores it.
When we entered the classroom, a sizable number of students were already there, but the teacher, Mr. Adam was nowhere to be seen which is quite odd. Mr. Adam is a very punctual person; the only time he has ever been late to class was when his wife gave birth to a set of adorable twins.
We looked around for spare desks when we saw Jason seated in a corner of the classroom with two empty desks next to him.
“Let’s go and sit with Jason,” Mika said. I noted how her tone softened as she pronounced his name. I wondered why I hadn’t noticed her crush on him since when it is so blatantly evident.
“Of course, it’s not like we can sit somewhere else with him in the class already so you don’t have to remind me,” I said with a laugh, she brushed what I said aside.
We made our way to where he was sitting, and as if on cue, he turned and grinned when he saw us.
“Hey, see who we got here," Mika jokingly exclaimed.
His smile lit once more, “How are you, Mika?”
“Thank you for asking, I'm good,” she replied without looking into his eyes.
Gosh, liking someone can transform you into someone else. Just take a good look at Mika; she's acting strangely because Jason is around.
“Baby girl, you made it to class, looks like someone’s missing me,” he teased, giving me a side hug.
“Come on, everyone knows I’m here because of Mika. Don’t think so highly of yourself,” I remarked amid laughter.
“Whatever, I know you miss me whether you confess it or not. Come sit,”
Mika remained standing as we settled in; there was something odd about her expression that I couldn't quite put my finger on.
“Mika, do you want to remain standing like an usher or take a seat, Mika? I teased. I observed that although she was laughing, the laughter didn’t meet her eyes.
"Mika, is there a problem?" Concerned, I enquired.
“Wrong? No—no. Why are you asking?”
“Well—,” I began, but reasoned that she wouldn’t be too thrilled to be corrected in the presence of her crush. So I changed my mind.
“No reason, I merely wanted to be sure that you are alright.”
“You needn’t bother yourself over me,” she remarked, and sat down next to Jason. If there is anything to be concerned about, it should be how you will present your apology to Tyler before the end of today.”
“Apologize? Is there something I’m missing here because I don’t understand, fill me in.”
“I’d rather not.”
“Well, I have no reason not to tell you, apparently Chloe has wriggled her way into Tyler’s black book.”
“Did you just say Tyler?!”
