Chloe’s POV “How many times have I told you not to meddle in other people's affairs? I can't believe you did that. Mika continued her tirade of lectures. “I did it because I felt the need to, and I don't believe it affects anyone. I thought we were past this.” I stood up for myself. She continued, "Oh, don't give me that bullshit, we both know the prank could only be done by one person and that person is Tyler Weston, the school's bad boy who is renowned for making students' lives miserable. “Okay, I'll admit that I might have suspected he was involved in the hoax, but it doesn't mean I should sit by and do nothing while the unfortunate man suffers needlessly.” “You need to stop seeing yourself as the "wonder woman," she advised. "Try saving yourself first. You can't save everyone." The last line of her sentence made me choke on my saliva and cough. She pulled a bottle of water out of her bag and said, "Here, have water." I took it from her and gulped, “thanks''. “You're welcome but as I was saying–” “What do you mean when you say that I should try saving myself? I queried her with suspicion. “Could it be that she already knows my secret? If so, what am I going to do? What if the entire school learns later? What will happen to me? All of these things almost gave me a panic attack. "Are you alright? You don't look well.” Concerned, Mika enquired. I imagine I must have appeared dreadful. I lied and said, "I'm fine, my legs are just sore from standing so much." “Hmm, that's strange, a while ago you were complaining of butt ache due to excessive sitting.” She said, casting a critical gaze my way. “You seem so fragile today,” my cheeks started to flush as I was caught lying. "Stop changing the subject; my leg hurts and my butt has been hurting for a while; what's weird about that? Come on, let's leave. We have been inside this restroom for too long. It's starting to feel weird.” I said and started to walk, She grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and pulled me back. “No, I'm not moving until I have given you a piece of my mind.” “Fine, just say whatever you want to say; the bottom line remains that I don't regret it and would do it again if given the chance.” “As your best friend, I will always watch out for you and provide you with advice and assistance whether you ask for it or not,” she sighed. “You broke the rules I set up to help us get from our sophomore year to our senior year at this school without drawing attention to ourselves or getting bullied; we got this far and you had to mess it up. “I'm mad at you right now but since the matter hasn't escalated beyond control we can still do something about it— that is if you want to,” “Will you let me be if I say yes?” I asked, if I said no she would continue bugging me for the rest of my life-- well until I eventually gave in. “Yes!” she squealed, excited. “So what are we going to do to fix it?” I asked “You will apologize to him.” “What—tt!” “Did you see the substitute's expression as Tyler made his introduction?”Someone laughingly said as they entered the bathroom, "I pity her. She was probably thinking, 'What in the world have I gotten myself into.” That hysterical laughter belonged to one person, call me a creep but years and years of being without a friend taught me how to be very observant. “You know how vicious these girls can be with words, so come on let's hide before they see us, '' I added. "No, you caused this; you should accept responsibility so you won't repeat it." "Suit yourself, but I'm in the bathroom hiding," I hid myself inside one of the restrooms. Don't get me wrong, I'm not terrified of these girls, but I prefer to stay away from them because I don't know whether any of them is dating Ken. That could be a pretext for him to a***e me further. I made the same mistake once before, and I won't make it again. The voice I heard earlier said, "Well, well, see who we have here, the unfortunate friend of the stupid nerd." “What do you want, Olivia? Mika's shrill voice was audible. “What does it look like I want? This is a public restroom, right? Or did you and your loser friend turn it into some sort of secret hideout?” “Do whatever you want, but don't bother me, please.” "Sure, Mia, get in here!" Olivia cried out. I apologize for not having the opportunity to introduce Olivia and Mia to you earlier; besides Rebecca, they are the class's most adorable, sexiest, and wealthiest girls. They desperately wanted Rebecca to become their friend so they could establish a group of three under the moniker "ROM," but unfortunately for them and fortunately for the less popular students, Rebecca refused their friendship outrightly due to their rudeness. “You called me,” Mia stated. “Yes, I did. I was attempting to warn Mika here to stay away from that creep before Tyler begins taking his revenge,” “You should know how he works, if you are a friend with his enemy, you are automatically his enemy.” “She is not a creep; she's my friend. I warned you not to bother me while you were in here, but it appears that you didn't hear what I said, so let me say it again. Olivia, stop talking to me! Please.” "Oh, okay, I'll leave you with your creepy friend, but first let me ask you: Do you know your friend that well? Have you ever wondered why she consistently wore those hideous sweaters? Have you not considered the possibility that she may be hiding something from you? I shivered with anxiety and sweat covered my palms as I was in the bathroom. This was not how I had thought she would find out.
