Chapter One — The Girl Who Saw Too Much
Rain poured heavily over the city.
Dark clouds covered the sky while expensive black cars moved silently through the empty streets.
Inside one of those cars sat Lucien Blackthorn.
Cold eyes.
Black suit.
Expression unreadable.
The kind of man who looked dangerous even in silence.
Meanwhile…
On the other side of the city, Aurora Vale rushed out of her college building while holding her bag over her head, trying to protect herself from the rain.
“Great… just great,” she muttered softly.
The roads were almost empty because of the storm.
Her phone battery was dead.
No taxi.
No umbrella.
Perfect.
Aurora quickly entered a nearby alley shortcut she usually used to reach the main road faster.
But after taking a few steps—
She stopped.
Voices.
Male voices.
Angry voices.
Her heartbeat slowed.
Carefully, she peeked around the corner.
And instantly regretted it.
Several men dressed in black stood under the rain.
One man was kneeling on the ground, bleeding.
And standing in front of him…
was a man in a black coat.
Tall.
Calm.
Terrifying.
Lucien Blackthorn.
Aurora’s breathing became uneven as she watched him silently stare at the injured man.
Then—
“Finish it.”
His cold voice echoed through the alley.
Aurora’s eyes widened in fear.
Without thinking, she accidentally stepped backward—
CRACK.
A broken glass piece shattered beneath her shoe.
Silence.
Every head slowly turned toward her.
And for the first time in her life…
Aurora Vale realized what true fear felt like.
Lucien’s dark eyes locked onto hers from across the rain.
The world suddenly felt terrifyingly small.
