Chapter 9

665 Words
As I walked back to my room, my gaze wandered to the garden below, where I caught sight of a figure hunched over among the vibrant blooms. Mr. Evan's rugged profile was unmistakable, his intense focus solely on the sunflowers. . With gentle hands, he tended to each plant, his fingers brushing against the delicate petals with a tenderness that belied his reputation. I stood there, transfixed by the sight, my mind whirling with questions. How could a man so often described as cold and ruthless nurture these flowers with such devotion? "Are you going to stare at me all day?" Mr. Evan's deep, husky voice shattered the silence, and I felt a jolt of surprise. I stammered, my words tumbling out in a incoherent mess. "Ugh... ugh..." He rose to his feet, dusting off his hands as he towered over the sunflowers. "Come here," he commanded, his voice low and smooth, brooking no argument. I hesitated for a moment before slowly making my way towards him. We sat down together in the garden, surrounded by the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the soft chirping of birds. The silence between us was palpable, heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tension. Just as I began to relax into the stillness, a low growl pierced the air. My eyes snapped towards the sound, and I saw the beast emerging from the shadows, its tawny coat glistening in the fading light. My heart racing, I let out a strangled gasp, and before I knew it, my world went dark. He instinctively caught me . "Snow, look what you did," he murmured, a hint of amusement dancing in his voice as the lion rubbed against his legs. I opened my eye and I was back in my room as if it had all been a dream. I was safe in my bed, the moon casting an ethereal glow over the room. But my relief was short-lived. A dark figure emerged from the shadows, its presence seeming to fill the entire room. Mr. Evan's chiseled features were set in a mask of concern as he approached me. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and gentle. I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "Y-yes." As I sat up, creating some distance between us, his brows furrowed in concern. Without warning, he pinned me against the wall, his cold lips brushing against my ear. "Have I ever hurt you?" he whispered, his breath sending shivers down my spine. I struggled to form words, my mind racing. "N-no," I stammered. His hands slid under my clothes, and I shivered at the touch. But just as suddenly, he pulled away, his aura shifting back to its usual cold, detached demeanor. "Would you like to go to school?" he asked, his eyes piercing mine. "I think you're old enough for college." I stared at him, my mind reeling from the sudden change in topic. "M-Mr. Evan..." I began, but he cut me off. "I've told you not to be scared of me," he said, his voice firm but gentle. "I don't have a dragon's head, do I?" A hint of a smile played on his lips as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "I'll take you to school tomorrow, okay? And I'm Evan to you, is that clear?" I nodded, my heart still racing from the intensity of the moment. As he turned to leave, I slumped back into the bed, my face flushed with a mix of emotions. The memory of his touch lingered, sending butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I buried my face in my pillow, trying to shake off the feelings that threatened to overwhelm me. "Ally, stop fawning over him," I mumbled to myself, but the words felt hollow, and the image of Evan's piercing eyes lingered, refusing to be erased.
