The Hamlet of Wexford
It was a bright summer morning in the town of Wexford. A town of the healthy living people with all the resources in their land. The land of the living legends until the fall of Edgar, the guardian appointed by the early settlers of the town. The story of the Wexford dates back to the golden age when raiders attempted to siege the land for its resources but every time, they had to face Edgar and his gate commanders. Edgar, who was fierce with golden hair and thick muscles in his silver gear and was destined to defeat all the raiders and secure the town. The town never faced any difficulty during Edgar’s time, it was all perfect imaginable life in Wexford. Children were learning all quick, men were using smart techniques in mills and farms, women were given special status to guard the town and every month the Edgar used to train them in the Central Highlands. Edgar, the Guardian of the Wexford, was created by wisemen of ancient civilization living in Wexford. Under Edgar, everything was neat and the well-organized town functioned smoothly. Not until a decade ago when Olafur from the Viktyrsgard arrived in Wexford. His cunningness defeated Edgar, the only living legend and guardian of the town. The battle was intense with Edgar and Olafur’s forces advancing into the shores, gaining control of the passage to the town but Olafur’s strategy beat Edgar and the reign of Olafur in town of Wexford began. Even today, 1901 is remembered as a doom’s day in Wexford and not many people stepped out because the folks of Viktyrsgard came to the main square to celebrate their victory in new land with its forces guarding its people. After the annexation of Wexford, Olafur created a new community for his people in the shores named Waterford. With time, Waterford got it resources not only from Wexford but also from Viktyrsgard and other far lands which Olafur conquered. Wexford was the worst affected town during the creation of Waterford, there were confrontation between Waterford and Wexford millions of times everyday and it always resulted in Wexford losing its people, cattle and resources. A never-ending struggle for the people of Wexford. People of Wexford are now used to this life after 10 years in 1911. Life has slowed in Wexford; resources are limited and the neighbouring town of Waterford was developed and more resilient. Still, life prevailed in many houses of Wexford and one such family was of Griffiths. Mr Craig Griffiths was one of the wealthiest and generous man in the town, helping as many as people along with his wife Sabrina and a son Arthur. The family is believed to have some ancestral roots to the ancient wisemen. Many small businesses in town are made possible with the aid of Mr Griffiths creating a livelihood. Everyone was contented from highlands to the main square. Silverstone was one such family which was highly reputed and skilled in every craft, especially Rowena Silverstone, who was a great combat warrior of the town during Edgar times. Since she was one of determined student of Edgar, she also used to train children in times. She was one of the cheerful ladies in town but after the fall of Edgar, she has lost her smile along with her family and spends most of the time during day at Waterford protesting against Viktyrsgard’s residents and nights at her attic. Life for her had changed the perspective to perceive changes and she was never the same. Rowena had stopped visiting the main square and she never mingled with children anymore or other folks. Rowena’s attic was her powerhouse to get her senses back and take control for what she blames herself and the folks of Wexford. That unfortunate fall of Edgar struck her hard and her attic was a place to comfort her and assurance to turn the wheels when time comes and she realise that it’s near. The attic was also the place where she had kept one of five Sapphire stone which was embedded in Edgar’s sword and the remaining four was with Olafur. The stone was important for Wexford as each stone represented the 5 elements and 5 gates of the Land. Neghov gate in the valleys, Gehov gate at the shores, Gargsberg gate at the end of Wexford’s old town, Lumar gate by the desert and Wolgshire gate at mountains which is part of Waterford now. Every gate was guarded by a horde of Wexford fighters but when the reign ended, a new law passed and all the fighters were sent back whilst many were killed. Even today, there are very few fighters appointed by the town of Wexford for its safety. It was evening by now and Rowena was returning back home. Her black hair that swirled up to her shoulders replicated a swirl of snake of the highlands, while her hazel eyes reflected exhaustion like of the setting sun. Her rich blue dress was a gift from her mother, and it suited her family’s valour. Three exquisite silver stones, representing herself, her mother, and her father, were inserted in the neckline. Olafur was back in Viktyrsgard after establishing his Waterford town. Even today, Rowena remembers that barbaric incident she witnessed with her own eyes. She was surrounded by many guards from Viktyrsgard and was fighting for a way out but no matter how many were slain by her sword, the guards kept on coming which prevented her from breaking the circle. Unfortunately, she couldn’t join Edgar and the other commanders in battle. The impact from the clashing blades of Olafur and Edgar was causing lightning in Central Highlands. And as Olafur advanced with more of his forces from the Gehov gate to cause more panic with Wexford fighters, this resulted in Edgar backing off his fighters. With that, Olafur took the moment and jumped towards Edgar to execute a massive strike which rested Edgar. He was a beast like storm when he arrived in Wexford and destroyed everything and before he went back to Viktyrsgard as he came with no trace. Finally, Rowena reached her home. She went to her attic to talk to the Sapphire and did her rituals there and fell asleep leaving the stars to glow.
