4: Going back home

"The plane will be landing in the next five minutes, please remain in your seats and fasten your seatbelts." The pilot announced through the general radio. "Mommy, when we get off the plane, can I have some ice cream then?" Keith asked as he tugged at the hem of my top. I patted his head gently. "Yes dear, be patient till we touch down." "I want ice cream too mommy!" Kathryn whined. "Yes yes sweetie." I hugged her in my arms. As the plane was about to touch the ground, I felt my heart pounding. It wasn't jitters from the plane but the anxiety of being in that damn city again, returning to the heartless pack that didn't think twice before shaming me. As Kathryn's head touched my arm, I smiled reassuringly that I was going to be fine. Before when I was in that cursed house, I had nothing to make me happy since my mother died but now, I had my children with me. They would keep me happy. Thankfully, I didn't have to stay in the house all through my stay, only until I could get a villa and I knew it wouldn't take too long. According to my agent, by the end of the day, I should have gotten a place. The past five years had been the happiest of my life, away from the whole pack and my dad and his two witches. The plane safely landed and everyone was getting ready to exit it. I got up to take out our luggages but it got stuck. Another hand reached for it and pulled it out. "Thank you for choosing imperial flights." I turned around to see the air hostess' beautiful smile. She said as she helped us with our bags. "I thought you needed a hand." "Thank you for helping me." I smiled back at her. "Your children are very beautiful." "Thank you." "Hi! My name is Kathryn." Kathryn beamed at the air hostess. "Hello." She wore a wide smile. She turned to Keith. "What is your name?" Keith clung unto me like he was scared. He was never really the type to relate freely with others. "Keith." He mumbled. "It's nice to meet you two, have fun in New Orleans okay?" She waved us goodbye. "Come on kids." I carried them and placed both of them on the trolley I used to push our luggages. Almost at the exit, I saw a familiar face holding a small board with my name written on it. It was none other than the wolf that humiliated me for his own amusement. "Where is that fat pig?!" He groaned. "Shouldn't she be here by now? Why did they even ask me to come pick her?" He frowned. I felt my blood boiling inside of me as I stared at him but I already promised not to act out while I will be there with my children. "Hello beautiful!" He smiled as he saw me. He walked towards me. "Are you waiting for your uber or can I give you a ride?" I was dumbstruck. I turned around to see if there was another woman behind me. "I'm talking to you beauty, what is your name?" He smirked at me. For real? This was the jerk my step sister was getting married to now in my place. It had only been five years, had I even changed that much? "Iris! Mommy isn't that--" I covered Kathryn's mouth before she could complete her sentence. "Iris?" He arched a curious brow. "Let's go now kids." I pushed the trolley past him and continued down the hall but I kept getting the feeling he was watching me. "You didn't want the man to know your name? He is very handsome." Kathryn said. "He is a bad man, don't talk to him." ★★★ It didn't take long to hail a taxi and now we were standing right in front of that cursed mansion. It was supposed to be home, it was built from my mom's hard earned money and sweat but unfortunately, witches had taken over the place. There was a sweet gentle music coming from the living room which they had expanded, so much for my mom's beautiful design. "Iris?" A familiar voice called out from behind me. I turned around to find my cousin standing behind me with a wide smile on her face. "Is it really you Iris?" "Chloe! How I've missed you." I went to her and hugged her. "It has been so long." "I was starting to worry I would never see you again. Are these your kids? Aww, I didn't know you had twins." She smiled and waved at them. "Triplets..." "What?" She turned to me, confusedly. She was the only one in the family that actually cared about me. She wasn't in the same pack as me, she had married into the shadow pack before my engagement. "Come with me to my room, I will explain everything to you." We sat on the bed I once wept on on a daily basis. The room was just I had left it except dustier. They hadn't tidied it for me even though they knew I was to stay there until I found a house to buy. I narrated to her my sad story and everything I had been through for the past five years. "Your dad sold your daughter?!" She asked so surprisingly. "Why would he do something like that?" "He wanted to punish me. Thanks to your mom that helped me escape with my kids, then she got a job for me at a hospital and now, I am actually a person of value because of her. I miss her so much and I can't wait to see her." Sadness dawned on her. "She… She passed last year." I felt my heart sink. "Oh my goodness!" The pain struck me harder than my rejection as I felt so weak. "I should have been there." I felt a tear drop escape my eyes. "It's alright. She was really happy she did a good deed for you." She squeezed my arms. "I am so sorry." I pulled her in for a short hug. "Thank you. Nancy's party is starting soon, she is celebrating the fact that she found the love of her life even though he isn't her mate. Will you join?" "No thank you, I am so tired from the flight." " Ohh I understand. Rest up and spend time with me tomorrow, okay?" She smiled like a little girl. She was older than me by a year but always acted like she was five years younger. She left the room and I was alone with my thoughts as Kathryn and Keith had gone to play around the mansion. A framed picture of my mom with a broken glass stared at me from my desk. My dad had smashed it on the floor, claiming it was unimportant trash but I kept it anyway. "I'm sorry I couldn't take you along mom." It was the only picture I had of her. "I am back now and I will always be with you. I am not going to give up your company no matter what because I already have a feeling that's why they called me here. My baby girl, I will find you and together, we will escape from this terrible place. "Mommy is coming."
