“This was a brilliant idea,” Alpha Daniel gloats. “I’m a genius.”
“Yes, Dad,” Declan smiles. “Brunch was excellent.”
“You don’t understand,” Daniel continues. “The food was outstanding, the company was good, and I am feeling wonderful.”
I sit in the back of the SUV, smiling as I listen to their conversation. The food was not that good, and Declan and I hardly spoke two words because Alpha Daniel turned out to be quite a chatterbox.
“Dad, I’m happy you’re feeling better,” Declan says as he parks in front of the house. “But in the future, please call a doctor. You’re age …”
“Careful,” Alpha Daniel interrupts him. “You’re about to call me old.”
“I am saying that,” Declan chuckles. “Because it’s true, and I’m serious. Don’t make me come back here and drag you to the clinic.”
