Blurb

At seventeen, Nia is a cynical orphan who doesn't believe in love. One night, at a carnival, Nia saves a she-wolf from an attack and accidentally kills the Beta's son. Nia is arrested and found guilty of murder, destined to serve the rest of her days in the dungeon.

Declan, the future alpha, doesn't want a mate and rejects Elize publicly. Out of anger and embarrassment, Elize takes revenge and scares Declan for life. Declan's father, the alpha, is furious and sends Declan to the border post. A year later, as a cruel joke, Declan's brother sends him a gift - a wolfless girl - Nia. Even though Nia has been tortured in the dungeon, her spirit is still intact. She manages to escape and befriends a vampire, Cameron.

1_I, Declan Stark, Reject You
Declan POV “Ah, yes, please, don’t stop,” the she-wolf – I cannot remember her name - moans, lifting her ass to allow me better access as I shove into her. She is bent over a table in the storage room behind the ticket counter, her skirt pushed up to her waist, and her fingers tighten around the table’s edges. “Shut up,” I snap, while continuing to pump into her. “Do you want the entire carnival to hear?” “Harder, please,” she pants, frantically rubbing her perfectly rounded ass against me. “Quiet!” I snap again, but my nails dig deeper into her hips, and I obey her demand. Truthfully, the idea that someone might walk in here at any moment is exhilarating. I did not want to come to the carnival – I think the rides are foolish and childish, but I changed my mind when I dropped my little sister off and saw this sweet ass walking past us. One cotton candy later, and here I am, having great s*x. “Oh, my Goddess! Declan!” The shrill voice pierces my skull, and the she-wolf lets go of the table as both of our heads jerk towards the sound. I am mid-thrust, and about to pull out, when I recognise Elize. She stares at us with big brown eyes; her perfectly painted red lips are open and closing as she struggles to find the right words. “Elize,” I growl, pressing my hand on the she-wolf’s back, stopping her from getting up. “Get out!” “How could you?” Elize sniffs, her trembling fingers gliding through her brown curls. “You’re my mate!” “Mate?” The she-wolf squeaks and tries to turn around, but I shove once more, and her words turn into a moan. “I, Declan Stark,” I say firmly, resuming thrusting into the she-wolf. “Reject you, Elize Pulcher, as my mate.” “Noooo!” Elize shrieks, dropping to her knees, tears streaming down her face, but I ignore it and concentrate on riding the she-wolf. Pleasure and desire mix, and I growl as I reach my climax. “Thanks,” I pant, slapping the she-wolf on her ass, pulling off the condom and discarding it into the trash. “But I’m not done,” she pouts, turning to face me. “Well, I am,” I shrug, pulling up my pants and tugging in my shirt. “Declan Stark!” Elize shouts, stumbling to her feet. “I can’t belie …” “Oh, shut it, Elize,” I huff, rolling my eyes. “I didn’t want a mate, and I told you so. I don’t know why you’re so surprised.” “I’m on her side,” the she-wolf grunts, reaching for her panties. “You’re a sanctimonious prick.” “And who are you again?” I ask, raising my eyebrows. “Bastard!” The she-wolf snaps, and the palm of her hand connects hard with my cheek. I chuckle softly, rubbing my cheek, which only infuriates her more. “I hate you!” She screams, picking up her shoes. “I heard that one before,” I laugh heartily as she storms away, admiring her ass one last time before she disappears into the crowd. “You!” Elize hisses, her face translucent white with anger as she points a finger at me. “You’ll regret this, I swear to the Goddess; I’ll make you pay.” “Yeah, yeah,” I sigh theatrically. “I heard that one too. Just accept my rejection so I can go home and take a shower.” “No,” Elize says firmly, raising her chin and crossing her arms in front of her. “You’re my mate, and we can work through …” “Dammit, Elize!” I snap, throwing my hands in the air. “How many times must I tell you this? I don’t want a mate. I literally f****d another woman right in front of you. What else should I do for you to get that into your head?” “This is just a phase,” she argues. “Once you accept the mate bond, we can …” “No!” I cut her off brusquely. “We can’t work through this, and we won’t ride happily into the sunset. This is not a phase. I. Don’t. Want. A. Mate.” She glares at me silently, her lips pressed into a thin line, and I exhale deeply as I run my fingers through my hair. Honestly, there is nothing more I can do or say to make her understand. I am not a vindictive person – well, normally, I am not – but I rejected her a week ago when I felt the mate bond. “Have it your way,” I huff, walking past her. “But the sooner you accept my rejection, the sooner you can find another mate and be happy.” “Fine!” She shouts, and I slowly turn around. “Good,” I smile, satisfied. “I, Elize Pulcher, r …,” she stops, closes her eyes and swallows hard before looking at me again. “Reject you, Declan Stark, as my mate.” “Finally,” I grin, ignoring the sting in my chest as the mate bond severs. “See? That wasn’t so hard.” “f**k you,” she sneers, and I laugh as I turn around to leave. “Declan,” she calls, and I sigh as I turn around once more. “Mark my words,” she hisses, her eyes blazing as she steps towards me. “You will regret this.” “Okay,” I shrug nonchalantly, turn around and leave. I smile softly as I walk towards my car. People are screaming and shouting as the rollercoaster swooshes through the air, and children are running around, ignoring their parents’ calls to stay close. This evening turned out better than I thought it would. Not only did I get lucky, but I am also finally rid of Elize. This whole mate-thing is nonsense. I always thought so, and I still do. If I ever decide to take a mate, it will be on my terms, and not this bond-gut-feeling thing. It is stupid. “Yo, Declan, wait up!” A voice shouts from my left, and I turn to see my best friend, Adam, and his mate, Ellen, running towards me. “I thought you weren’t coming,” he says when they catch up with me. “I’m not staying,” I shrug. “I just dropped Mila off.” “That’s not what I heard,” Ellen says, raising her eyebrows. “You met a she-wolf and rejected Elize.” “Damn,” I scoff, looking at her in disbelief. “News travels fast. That happened like five minutes ago.” “Well, we were buying tickets when Elize stormed out and told her minions what happened,” Ellen explains. “So, it’s true?” Adam gapes at me. “You were balls deep into another girl when you rejected her?” “Yeah, it’s true,” I smirk. “You’re cruel, Declan,” Ellen says firmly and unamused. “Ellen!” Adam snaps. “That’s no way to talk to your future alpha. Show some respect.” “Respect?” Ellen’s voice climbs an octave. “You mean, like he did Elize?” “Elize had it coming,” I growl, and Ellen’s eyes flicker with something like fear, but she stands her ground. “I tried polite and respectful, but she didn’t want to hear it. I had no choice but to take drastic measures.” “You’re a pig,” Ellen huffs, turns around and walks away. “Ellen, wait!” Adam calls after her, but she ignores him. “Go,” I say, gently shoving Adam in her direction. “You shouldn’t have a lover’s quarrel because of me.” “Women,” Adam rolls his eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” Adam shouts as he runs after Ellen. “Whatever,” I mutter, and turn to walk away … just to bump into someone. Instinctively, I reach out, and my hands wrap around petite shoulders. She yelps softly, but I help her to remain on her feet. “Watch out, little girl,” I tease the girl, but when she raises her face and looks me in the eyes, the wind is knocked right out of me, and my wolf starts panting with lust. I thought it was a little girl, but her clear blue eyes shine with a maturity I had not expected. And her hair … dear Goddess, it is as white as snow and simply gorgeous. “I … I’m sorry,” she stutters with a melodious voice, stepping away from me, and I must fight the urge to throw her over my shoulder and carry her home with me. “What’s your name?” I ask. “Nia,” she replies. “How old are you?” I frown, irritated with the feelings she so easily awakens in me. “Seventeen,” she replies, shyly. Dammit, I sigh inwardly as my eyes glide over her voluptuous body. People can say plenty of horrible things about me, but cradle snatcher is not one of them. “Do you know who I am?” I ask, clearing my throat. “Yes,” she nods, blushing slightly. “Everybody knows our future alpha.” “Good,” I smile, crossing my arms to keep myself from pulling her into my embrace. “Call me when you’re eighteen, okay?” “Ex … excuse me?” She stutters, looking at me with those mesmerising blue eyes. I half expected her to stare at me with admiration, but instead I detect a hint of deviance and … anger. Have I done something to her before? No, that cannot be; there is no way in hell I would forget a beauty like her. Why is she so angry? “You heard me,” I grunt, walking past her. “I’ll be waiting.” I do not turn around as I walk towards my car as fast as I can. Dear Goddess, Nia is case and point why I am dead set against a mate. How the hell am I supposed to remain faithful to one woman when beauties like Nia are still growing up?
