Alex heart raced as he stood outside the run-down apartment building. Reed's last words echoed in his mind after leaving the safehouse, “get the money Alex, and then take care of him”.
He took a deep breath, remembering all what he has learnt from Kia and Reed, “Never show sympathy, that's for the weak, anyone that owes for long, the person dies”.
This was it, his first job, his first kill. He had been preparing for this moment for a while a now. He knocked on the door and a disheveled man answered. "Yeah?".
“Reed sent me”, Alex said sounding all confident and serious. “You owe him money”.
The man's eyes widened, he stepped aside, letting Alex in. “I don't have it all, but I'll give you what I have”. Alex's eyes scanned the room, taking in the squalid conditions. He spotted a small pile of cash on the coffee table. “That's not enough”, he growled.
The man trembled, “I-I'll get more, I promise”.
Alex's hand instinctively went to his gun, and he felt a surge of adrenaline. This was it, the moment of truth.
With a swift motion, he pulled out the gun and pointed it directly at the Man's head. “You should have paid Reed when you had the chance”. The man's eyes went wide as he pleaded, “No please don't— ”
Alex pulled the trigger, and the sound of the gunshot echoed through the room. He felt a rush of power, mixed with a hint of revulsion.
He collected the money and left the apartment. The man just lied there on the floor, in the pool of his blood.
On reaching the safehouse, he went straight to Reed and gave him all the money. “good job kid, I honestly didn't think you had it in you. Keep it up”. Alex smiled as he left.
“So what was it like? killing someone for the first time ever, taking a life”. Jackson asked being all inquisitive.
"Well... its scary but I kinda liked it, I had power, I was in charge".
“My first kill was hard for me, I couldn't do it, but Kia pointed a gun to my head so it was either me or the person".
“That was tough man”.
“ yes it was, well I'd advice you, don't enjoy it too much because you'll get addicted to killing people”.
"Com'on, that'll never happen" Alex assured him.
