My heartbeat went from an upbeat drumroll to the ticking sounds of the wall clock. There was something about Edward's presence and what he had just said got the heavy weight off my shoulders.
Even though we were always acting like cats and dogs with the constant backs and forth, his presence was still magnifying and was capable of giving me comfort.
He came over to me and placed a wet kiss on my cheeks that got my feet curling under the table before he sat down next to me on the empty chair instead of the usual head of the table reserved for the alpha. Was that for show because we're supposed to be fighting.
All eyes were on me, watching us and it made me kinda nervous.
