CHAPTER SEVEN

JESSICA POV

My heart was beating really fast as Ryan separated himself from the woman lying on top of him.

“You have moved on quickly without me?” I asked, clutching my heart and allowing the tears to drop down my eyes.

I turned towards the familiar Isabella, who was smiling.

The urge to just punch her in the face was heavy but I restrained myself and walked out of the room instead

It wasn’t even up to an hour and he has the nerve to be with another woman.

My eyes were blurry because of the tears as I moved into my room.

Why is this all happening to me?

A knock came through the door and I suspected that he might be the one and so I refrained from answering it.

Again, a second knock came through and this time a voice spoke.

“I know you are in there Jessica. Open the door”

It wasn’t him but Darius.

I walked towards the door and wiped off my face before pulling the door open.

He walked inside, staring at me suspiciously.

“What is wrong with you?” He asked, but I did not answer but returned to my seat with a heavy heart.

“Jessica”

“Can you please leave me alone. Everything happening is your fault!” I snapped at him.

“Is it my fault that I chose to settle with my mate?” Darius asked.

“No, don’t make it look like it is that simple. We both know that you don’t even love me. You are only doing this to spite Ryan” I informed him.

There was a look of doubt on his face. Darius sighed and proceeded to sit down next to me.

We were silent for a moment before I decided to open up to him.

“Because of everything that is going on, it is obvious that Ryan is planning to leave me for someone else.” I said, wiping off the tears in my eyes.

“What do you even mean by that?” Darius asked.

“I found Ryan with Isabella in the room getting intimate. He doesn’t look like he regrets the decision.” I explained to him.

“That is because he owes you no obligation to explain his mind to you” He said, clearing off his throat and looking me in the eye.

“The earlier you understand this, the better it is for you” He said.

I did not want to believe the words from Darius. Ryan has always proved his love to me and there was no denying it.

My plan was to confront him one last time and know if our relationship was truly gone or not.

“You haven’t spoken about when you will be bringing your things to my room” He said with a knowing smile on his face.

“Are you out of your mind? We are not meant to be Darius. Just leave me alone” I declared.

He was about to say something but I was already fed up.

I got up from the bed and walked towards the door, pulling it open and making gestures that he should leave.

“I am your mate. You cannot send me out” Darius said with a chuckle on his face.

“Either you leave or I find a way to harm myself.” I threatened.

He took a long deep breath and got up to his feet to leave the room eventually.

I slammed the door on his face and went back to my bed.

If Ryan is truly going to leave me then he must be bold to tell me about it.

Another knock came through the door.

This time I didn’t bother wiping my face and proceeded to open the door.

My anger flared up at the sight before me.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, growling underneath my breath.

“I just came to inform you that you dropped this.” She replied, holding out my ear rings up for me.

I snatched them away from her and tried to close the door but Isabella stopped me.

“Also I came to tell you that there is no need to burden yourself with it. What you saw was simply Ryan choosing a better person over you”

My face was flushed in anger.

“So this is what you have always been planning. You are trying desperately to take my place in Ryan’s life?” I asked.

“Take your place? It is not my fault that Ryan doesn’t follow you anymore. Go and meet your mate and stick with him.” Isabella mocked.

I could not bear it any more and launched at Isabella, tackling her to the ground and growling in her face.

She wasn’t as strong as I had thought.

“Get off me!” She yelled but I remained still pressing her hand to the ground and leaning close to her.

“Don’t you ever disrespect me again. I am not usually angry but if you push me I will do more of this to you.” I said and finally released her hand and stepped away from her.

Isabella dust herself as she got up to her feet and had a scowl on her face. My smile was brighter than ever because I knew that I had succeeded in instilling fear in her.

She wasn’t exactly stronger than me.

The lunar shadow curse comes also with immense strength but I rarely tapped into it because of the damaging effect it could cause.

After Isabella was gone, I decided to take a walk down the kitchen and find something to eat.

It has been a truly stressful day.

Just before I entered the kitchen, I stopped at the path leading to Ryan’s room.

Maybe I had been wrong about him.

Maybe he never truly loved me enough to fight for what he truly owns.

And now he ends up betraying me with another woman.

Even though Darius caused the entire misunderstanding, I couldn’t believe that he would move on so quickly with another woman.

Thinking about it, I had the urge to just go inside and scream at his face for being so dumb but I restrained myself.

When the time is right, I will know his true intentions.
